Impressive numbers !

106m PS4 sold-through would mean 14.4m PS4 sold through in 2019

Even if PS4 dipped a bit in 2019, to add context, 14.4m sold-through is more than PS3's peak of shipments of 14.3m in FY10

Pretty amazing, Sony does very well for themselves in the console space. Helps that they have good support and coverage across many countries. Hopefully PS5 will eventually reach such heights.

The 1.15 BILLION games sold bit kinda breaks my mind a bit. Like.... a BILLION of something is a whole fucking lot.

Otherwise, it keeps on trucking I guess! Already the 2nd best selling console of all time. Can see it reach 120M when all is said and done.

The amount of subs compared too consoles sold is staggering

we talking like good staggering or bad staggering?

To me with how much they specifically focus on singleplayer games its pretty damn good.

Plus they don't paywall multiplayer F2P games

Every fortnite player on the xbox needs to subscribe to play...........this is not the case for PS4

I was expecting more. Ps4 will end around 120million little bit less than where I expected.

Am I misremembering? I thought PSVR was already at 5 million a year or so ago?

It's the only disappointing figure in this report. Not even an attatch rate of 5%.

Edit: PSVR was at 4.2 million in March 2019. So 800k in 9 months. VR is still years away from being mainstream.

Seems low.

There's what, 8 billion people on the planet? Take out 50% to account for general poverty. That's 3.9 billion people that have no excuse for not owning a PS4.

I'm like, half kidding. Congrats Sony.

PS4 is an absolute amazing value. So happy to see it sell well. Sony is going to do absolutely well with the PS5.

I'm pretty surprised at the PS+ sub number being that low, relative to active users. I always figured it'd be 45-50%.

106 million, and we arent even at end of gen yet. Good stuff.

That PSVR number is really dissapointing tho. Couldnt even a manage a 5% attach rate.

I don't understand if numbers are shipments or sell-through

PS4 is at 102.8m shipped as of Sept, so 106m shipped as of Dec would mean only 3.2m PS4 shipped during Q4 CY19, that seems too low

But 1.15B games is probably sold-in (shipped+digital sales) because it was at > 1.067B games sold-in as of Sept
If it was sold-through, it would me 274m games sold-through in 2019 (while 2017 peaked at 235.9m games sold through and then 2018 with 231m), it seems impossible

Imagine thinking that 39M PS Plus subscriptions over a 100M install base is a low number.

Call me crazy, but that actually seems...low? That means the average PS4 owner buys less than 2 games a year? With that including digital sales I actually would have guessed higher. I mean it's an insane # like you said, a billion, but average per console seems low to me.

Hardware slowing down pretty predictably. I'm predicting ~9M sold this year, and a End of Life total of ~125M

i forget where i heard it, but the average has been roughly 2-3 games a year per player for a while now, i think since at least last generation

The majority of users are just buying about that many games a year. CoD and maybe another game or two.

The smaller, more hardcore crowd is buying a crazy amount of games.

Managing a 5% attach rate on a 1st generation product for a medium would be impossible. That just never happens in technology.

The sales are very much in line with what Sony expected. Expect PSVR2 to reach 15-20% or higher.

Supposedly those console sales are sold through as well...very impressive. This is why PS5 will be fine as long as they dont fuck up something major. Having a lesser power machine isnt that

Difference between shipped and sold-through. They must've shipped a lot more than 3.2m, they just haven't been 'sold' yet.

What? 1.15B actually means 10+ game attachment per console.
