It's objectively the best anime ever made and trigger as a studio will never reach such greatness especially since they ain't Gainax no more.
Kill la Kill is pretty entertaining, but I recall it being somewhat of a let-down starting about halfway through. I've only seen it once though.
Interesting to see what has changed from the first visual tease.
The mech was way more bulky looking and the main character's weapon was more like a buster sword.
I'm glad they kept those massive shorts though. I'm kind of loving how it seems to be focused on some kind of emergency response crew.
I mean, its pretty great but it isn't even the best of Gainax's offering (Eva is). I really recommend watching the Gunbuster series too. The sequel to Gunbuster (Diebuster) is pretty much proto-TTGL.
Heh, I actually didn't say in my post that it was the MC's mech(just said MC's weapon).
I'm a bit more optimistic than that about it. As long as it isn't loaded with *shoulder nudge* "hey, remember Gurren Lagann??" references we should be gold. The world looks unique enough in comparison anyways. The closest things so far in the teaser to GL are the Kamina stand-in and how the CG mechs/monsters seem to have a similar feel and look to the anti-spiral ships that attack earth at the start of the second arc.
I think the issue is more so he looks way more generic in the keyart than he does in the actual animation. He looks dope as hell in the movie itself. Maybe the other issue is his design is too simple? It's good but its a lot of flat color with no detail. I like the emergency response motif though, what little clothes he has on kind of looks firefighter-inspired.
I think I worded it in a way that it sounded like both his weapon and his mech, so I totally got how you'd think that.
While I agree, Galo has about as much skin exposed. Maybe they both could use a shirt.
