Gone a bit quiet in here!

One-man prog space rock band Jay Tausig is one of my favourite recent discoveries: http://www.jaytausig.com/music/
Space Debris have 2 new live albums that I missed a couple of months ago: https://spacedebris.bandcamp.com/album/mountain-ultimate | https://spacedebris.bandcamp.com/album/spacedelic-odyssey
Dead Otter album Bridge of Weird: https://dead-otter.bandcamp.com/album/bridge-of-weird
Love this album from Automatism, tempted to grab the marbled vinyl: https://automatismband.bandcamp.com/album/from-the-lake
Xoa - Xo-Ology, great atmosphere and guitar on this album: https://www.xoaband.com/media
Another amazing release from a member of Cosmic Fall, this time the drummer: https://circleofthesun.bandcamp.com/releases
Finally found some heavier stuff after listening to a lot more space rock and prog lately, Below A Silent Sky: https://belowasilentsky.bandcamp.com/album/a-view-from-afar

Hakens new song is up. Not sure how I feel about it. Getting affinity vibes which was my least favorite album of theirs.

New single by The Ocean titled Permian: The Great Dying.

New album Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic coming out Nov. 2. I like the single, it's heavy and has great progression. I'm happy they kept the vocalist around, his voice has a distinct sound to it.

I missed out on so much not paying attention to what's out there these days.. listening to a lot of Witchcraft and Graveyard lately... Just found Yawning Man today. So good.

And just found out about Dunbarrow as well.

Is there anything like Cynic's "Kindly Bent to Free Us"? I just love it, and I haven't found anything to scratch that same itch of being mellow, yet heavy and complex in a similar fashion.

They're basically unknown at the moment but Hank, from Norwich in the UK, are something a bit special. I was at their first gig last year as some friends were also on the bill and right out of the gates, from the very first show, they were just so on point. If you're in the UK and spot them ever playing near you, they're well worth seeing.

Got back from Desert Daze last week. It was mad, great bands. Uncle Acid, Earthless, King Gizzard, Kikagaku Moyo, All Them Witches, to name just a few. Then I went and say Kik Moyo again two days later in Austin. It was unreal, probably two of the best shows I've ever seen. Their live shit is incredible.

Anyway, here's a new band I discovered at the fest. They are pretty awesome, all-girl heavy stoner/psych, with riffs right out the Tony Iommi handbook. Also, they have keys to keep things interesting!

I went to their show on Sunday night in Toronto, and they were absolutely amazing. Definitely one of those bands that I'll make an effort to see every single time they play in my city.

Conception has new music for the first time in 20 years.

I dig it. Sounds a bit like if their Flow LP fused with Kamelot's Poetry For The Poisoned. Full EP will be out Black Friday.

Hi! I've been looking for suggestion on predominantly women prog bands. Anyone got tips? Preferably not from the "heaviest" metal subgenres.

Been a bit quiet in here so I figured I'd post stuff that I've been listening to this year.

Øresund Space Collective - Kybalion | More great improvised space rock from the Danish and Swedish space rock collective. Shorter songs this time, a lot more varied than Chatoyant Breath

Aton Five - Solarstalgia | Great 70s style instrumental psychedelia with a good combination of keyboards and guitars

Beardfish - Sleeping In Traffic: Part One & Part Two | Came back to these albums again during the holidays. Just top to bottom fantastic prog rock concept albums. Very reminiscent of Genesis, Zappa, King Crimson and Gentle Giant.

Uluru - Acrophilia | A great combination of space rock psychedelia and post rock from this Turkish band, probably their best album yet

Hoja Madre - Hoja Madre | A very solid debut album from this Peruvian band, with some great atmosphere and guitar work

N-1 - Die dunkle Reise des Prinz von LeckErMich | N-1 can be very hit and miss, but this one is a big hit for me, 2 hours of fantastic krautrock jams

ÖfÖ Am - Tales From Outerspace : An Octaman's Odyssey | A pretty cool little instrumental concept album about an intergalactic octopus man travelling the cosmos

Have y'all heard the Claypool Lennon Delirium yet? Sean Lennon and Les Claypool do some wild art psych rock stuff. Really cool, their latest just came out.

Oh damn. The first CLD record didn't do much for me, but I like this. Sounds like if John Lennon was in Pink Floyd except with Claypool channeling the ghost of Chris Squire on bass.

Yeah, their first record was very Primus-y with some psychedelics, this one feels like a more cohesive unit where they reign each other in songwriting, which is altogether good. Definitely has an early Floyd feel at times. Les has always been an incredible bassist, and it's cool to hear him do more prog-forward stuff.

Hey all. My favorite male vocalist Jon Anderson of Yes fame recently released his 15th solo album, 1000 Hands.
He has some music videos on YouTube, and this one just put a smile on my face.

New Helms Alee came out today and it fucking smashes. This band is doing some truly unique things imo. The drums on this are madness. Listening to some of the harmonies/melodies they pull off thinking "how the fuck did they come up with that?"

Absolutely in love with it. Probably my AOTY so far.

Saw them for the second time 3 weeks ago or so, and briefly met them after the show. They're all super kind people, and their drummer makes me want to reconsider my thoughts on marriage.
