Everything they have announced so far--but it will be a missed opportunity if they don't squeeze the Fantastic Four some where in before the end of Phase 4.

The theme of Phase 4 will be "menace". Cap, Iron Man, and Black Widow are gone. Hulk's incapacitated and Thor's in space. The Avengers are gone and the guy who was going to replace Iron Man (Far From Home Spoilers):

Is now considered a murderer and his identity is public

The public will become increasingly nervous of the heroes that remain and start getting downright terrified of them. This creates the perfect environment to bring in the X-Men and also brings in the Thunderbolts as "the peoples' champions" or something.

If Spider-Man 3 is not counted as part of that lineup, then that means there's only one unknown movie in Phase 4, right? I assume they would end with a team-up movie like Young Avengers or A-Force.

Secret Invasion for Phase 4 leading into Phase 5 Dark Reign. Spiderman 3 will happen in 22 introducing Osborn and Spidey 4 will be the Captain America Civil War introducing the Dark Avengers. Otherwise everything else is gonna be surrounding the Skrull Invasion, and towards the end we will have one Fantastic Four movie to introduce Doom.

I can't see a big effects heavy film like doctor strange 2 or eternal coming out in November next year. They haven't started filming either (have they) and 16 months doesn't seem like enough time.

Then again they needed another big Marvel-ass film (sorry, that ain't you black widow) soon so people realise endgame wasn't the actual end.

You'd be surprised how quickly big budget movies can move along (to the detriment of those crunching to make this possible). That trailer for Jumanji The Next Level and that only finished filming like a month ago. Of course they select certain scenes for trailers to fast track CG production, but still it's impressive how quickly they move.

I don't think it's an invasion, I think something else is going on.

So Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, Endgame, Far From Home and Spidey 3? That's all he's in for? I hope they renew his contract then because he NEEDS to be in way more.

They pretty much have to renew his contract at this point. They're well on their way to making him a central character of the MCU from this point forward, which just wouldn't work if he's only going to be in one more film.

That is what the comics use the Skrull for, so I would think if they do Dark Reign they would also do the event that leads to that one. But who knows really.
Looking at what happened with them in Captain Marvel and
what seems to be going on in the end credits scene in Spider-Man
, I don't think it'll play out that way at all. I think there's going to be a swerve.

A little off-topic here. Since they seem to be going the menace route with the next Spider-Man movie with JJJ trying to turn everyone against him and revealing his identity, it would be cool to adapt a version of The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man in the next movie... and have that kid be Miles Morales. That would be a cool way to bring that character into the universe and start building that relationship where eventually Peter can be to Miles what Tony Stark was to him.

Here's what I'm thinking.
  • May 1, 2020 ------------- Black Widow
  • November 6, 2020 ----- Eternals
  • February 12, 2021 ----- Shang-Chi
  • May 7, 2021 -------------
  • November 5, 2021 ----- Doctor Strange 2
  • February 18, 2022 ----- Black Panther 2
  • May 6, 2022 ------------- Captain Marvel 2
  • July 29, 2022 ------------ Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3
I can't decide what to put in that May 7th 2021 slot. I'm assuming Spidey 3 isn't on this schedule.

  • May 1, 2020 - Black Widow
  • November 6, 2020 - Eternals
  • February 12, 2021 - Shang-Chi
  • May 7, 2021 - Spiderman Graduation
  • November 5, 2021 - Captain Marvel: Secret Invasion
  • February 18, 2022 - Black Panther 2
  • May 6, 2022 - Dr. Strange 2
  • July 29, 2022 - Guardians Vol 3
Edit: I changed GotG3... Suicide Squad 2 is Aug 2021, so it can't be before that, plus it's a summer film. So I guess that means no Thunderbolts this phase. For the rest... there once was a 2-3 year gap between sequels, so I put Cap't Marvel in Nov 2021 slot. Panther 2 is being written this year for production next year, and spiderman is usually 2 years apart due to Holland's age (I guess) and Sony scheduling. Fiege mentioned Strange 2 is a few years off so probably fits near the end of phase 4. Was tempted to put Avengers in July 2022, but there was mention of doing away with phases... so I think it'll be a long time before we see another group.

My main predictions right now:

- No dedicated X-Men or Fantastic Four movies until Phase 5, but we do see cameos and world-building sprinkled into previously scheduled movies to pave the way for them.

- The final movie of Phase 4 will be titled "The New Avengers," and feature Sam Wilson's Captain America and Spidey bringing together a new team.

  • May 1, 2020 - Black Widow
  • November 6, 2020 - Eternals
  • February 12, 2021 - Shang Chi
  • May 7, 2021 - Guardians Vol 3
  • November 5, 2021 - Dr. Strange 2
  • February 18, 2022 - Black Panther 2
  • May 6, 2022 - Spiderman Graduation
  • July 29, 2022 - Thunderbolts
Goliath and Ghost from AM&tW, Zemo from CA:CW and Falcon/WS show, Osborn from Spiderman 3, Ross from misc could fill out Thunderbolts.

This is pretty close to my prediction, but I'd replace Thunderbolts with New Avengers. The "Dark Avengers" version of the Thunderbolts under Norman Osborn would be the villains, though.

Osborn is in control of his mental state and uses Green Goblin and Iron Patriot as different personas to accomplish his goals. Only Peter knows that Osborn is Green Goblin.

May 1, 2020 - BLACK WIDOW (basically confirmed given the production schedule)
November 6, 2020 - ETERNALS (same as above)

February 12, 2021 - BLACK PANTHER 2 (I can see it in the Feb slot going forward given how amazing the first one did, though it seems super early in production as per Feige's comments, might be 2022)
May 7, 2021 - SHANG CHI (sounds like they're ready to cast the lead and begin production soon)
July 2021 - SPIDER-MAN 3 (as per Sony's every-other-year schedule. Should feature DEADPOOL)
November 5, 2021 - DR STRANGE 2 (timing wise feels about right)

February 18, 2022 - ASGARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (I think 2022 at the earliest since Gunn has Suicide Squad 2 commitments)
May 6, 2022 - AVENGERS 5 (I just can't imagine them holding off the biggest movie franchise in the world for more than 3 years. Might feature Doom/Fastastic Four)
July 29, 2022 - CAPTAIN MARVEL 2

I figure the first F4 movie comes either in 2022 (unannounced date) or 2023. Hopefully it's all cleared up at SDCC.

Sinister Six sub-plot mid-arc that eventually leads to Galactus/Silver Surfer/F4/X-Men... hopefully.

We know nearly all the films, it's just a case of the dates they fall in.
  • May 1, 2020 - Black Widow, locked
  • November 6, 2020 - The Eternals, locked
  • February 12, 2021 - Shang-Chi, very likely
  • May 7, 2021 - Black Panther 2
  • November 5, 2021- Dr Strange 2, this and the above are interchangeable
  • February 18, 2022 - Captain Marvel 2
  • May 6, 2022 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, this and the above are interchangeable
  • July 29, 2022 - leaving this space for something new (F4?)
I don't believe Spider-Man 3 would count as one of these dates, so could fit in at July 2021. If it does count then July 2022.

If these guesses are right, and they probably are very close, phase 4 sounds a bit underwhelming for me. I will go and watch all these films but we need something truly hype to end the phase off. It doesn't need to be Endgame levels but maybe something like New Avengers. F4 could of course make a big splash if they are gonna bring them in.

Marvel is directly behind the creative control of those movies, unlike everything else Sony produced.

I think what they mean here is that if Spider-Man 3 is part of Phase 4, it would be on a date that Sony put aside instead of one Disney put aside, because Sony is the distributor.

Are these the only dates? What I mean is, is it possible that they'll add more dates and move to 4 MCU films each year?

I don't think Spider-Man will show up in that release date list as it's distributed by Sony.

Hmmm, tough one. Can't do dates but I expect the Xmen and fantastic 4 to be coming in the near future rather than distant. Also get the feeling the eternals may be the replacement for Avengers going forward.

Tbh I'm kind of not hyped anymore. Endgame was the closer for me and 3/4 of my faves are gone now, plus I've never been an Xmen or fantastic 4 fan. Oddly I'm more excited for some of that Disney+ stuff right now.

I like that they'll wait five years with the X-Men movies but I'd love if some characters appear (as antagonists) in other movies before then.

Mystique and Rogue as side-villains in Captain Marvel 2.
Namor in Black Panther 2.
Starjammers in Guardians 3.

That kind of thing.

I wonder if the BW movie will start laying the groundwork for whatever unifying threat we have in Phase 4, or not.

Part of me wants them to bring a mutant into one of the future Spider-man flicks.

Spidey has always been the go-to team up character, and if they want to make him the MCU cornerstone going forward it would be a great way to tease that development in the world.

I can't see Marvel pushing Strange as a summer movie, especially as Black Panter made a fuck ton of money already.
