I had these in mind for awhile but forgot to put them in the OP because I blanked on them.

5. Avengers flops (or gets delayed)
It just doesn't look good. It definitely has the makings of another Anthem/Fallout disaster. My money is on audiences rejecting it, or Square delays it for another few months.

6. Microsoft introduces their own game launcher
With all the complaining about having to manage separate libraries on separate apps, Microsoft will introduce their own launcher that combines Steam, Epic, Origin, etc. Everybody wins but especially Phil.

I wonder if at launch in Nov 2020 both companies will start giving free games for next-gen consoles.

We get
2 PS4 Games
2 PS5 Games

2 Xbox One Games
2 Xbox Series X games
2 Xbox 360 Games

I hope so...

Sony already said they won't make another VITA but

We will get a peripheral that'll act like Switch. We can connect it to our Controllers and make all PS4/PS5 library of games mobile.

Feb- Cyberpunk 2077 get delayed to fall

Mar- PS5 reveal event. HDZ2 and GT7 trailers shown. Both look amazing. Sony wont say the exact Tflop number because its less than XSX so they will say something like ps5 GPU is 2.5 times stronger than PS4pro. PS5 wont support VRR but "all sony first party games will be 4k 60fps and support raytracing"

TLOU2 comes out, sells very well, GOTY quality but some reviewers score lower for unnecessary/graphic violence.

E3-

MS- Pushing XSX hard. Forza8 and Halo infinate playable. They hype VRR(cause ps5 doesnt have it) DF concludes that Halo and Forza are running at 4k 90 fps on average on XSX. Since these games run on old XBone the games will be criticized by some as "exact same as current-Gen except for resolution and FPS". No mention of Lockheart.

Sony- HZD2 and GT7 playable. They hype "doing things only can be done on Next-Gen"(Cause XSX has no true exclusives)PSVR2 is soft announced will be coming for PS5 in 2021.

Nov-

XSX comes out at 499. Sells OK. Halo Infinate gets mixed reviews but they do announce a XSX exclusive mode. 100 player Mega big team battle that has some openworld map and Battleroyal style aspects releases spring 2021

PS5 comes out at 399. Sells Very well. The power(Tflop) disadvantage is not a factor as HZD2 looks and plays amazing.

Cyberpunk 2077 comes out. Is amazing on PC XSX and PS5. Is very very rough on current(last) gen though.

GOTY is pretty evenly split by HDZ2 TLOU2 and Cyberpunk.

ps5 doesn't need to support vrr. It's a simple matter of devs unlocking the framerate with a toggle in the settings and the tv handles the wonky frame rates.

  • Mario 3D World will come to switch
  • No More Heroes 3 and Deadly Premonition 2 will be delayed to 2021, Bravely Default 2 releases in december to solid reviews
Sony
  • PS5 will beat PS4 launch day sales
  • TLOU2 will be the second highest rated game of the year behind Mario. fans will agree that its a step up in gameplay and level design, but will be divided on the story
  • Ghost of Tsushima will review similar to Spider-Man. generally well liked outside of forums but will be more divisive on here as some will find the combat, stealth, and open world design to be lackluster
  • Demons Souls remake and a new Ratchet and Clank will be the big first party launch titles. Demons will be more of a reimagining, which will upset many
  • Godfall will be better than people expect, but largely ignored
  • Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and a new IP from Housemarque will be announced at the PS5 reveal event for 2021 releases. HZD2 will go deeper on the RPG side of things than the first game and Housemarque's game will have some weird and unique concept that grabs peoples attention

  • Grounded, Bleeding Edge, and Battletoads will all score similarly to Crackdown 3
  • Ori 2 and Tell Me Why on the other hand will score very well, with Ori 2 being better received than the first and Tell Me Why receiving similar acclaim as the first LiS season
  • Playground will announce their new Fable at e3 with a trailer that blows people away. fall 2021 release window
  • The Initiative will also tease their project at e3 with no release window. will appear to be smaller scale than fans are expecting but will still be intriguing to many
  • Everwild will show a glimpse of gameplay later in the year, similar to Monster Hunter (or i guess Dauntless)
  • at least 2 of the following studios will be acquired: Asobo Studio, Dontnod, Moon Studios
  • MS will acquire a japanese developer, although it will be one that very few lovers of japanese games on other platforms will miss
Other
  • Cyberpunk 2077 will be the third highest scoring game of the year, but something about it will cause it to be RDR2 levels of divisive. many will love it, many will hate it
  • Elden Ring will finally be shown off for a release in march 2021. will promise to be "the next step forward for From Software" or something which will cause fans to worry they are adding an easy mode, but they won't
  • Resident Evil 3 won't be as acclaimed as 2, but rather similar to 7. the game will differ significantly more from the original than 2 did
  • Capcom will announce Street Fighter 6 at the PS5 reveal event for a 2021 release, multiplatform this time
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be incredibly divisive, because of course it will. FFXVI will be teased at E3 with Yoshi-P directing and a more traditional fantasy setting. single player
  • Fumito Ueda will announce his next game will be published by Bandai Namco and be multiplatform
  • Doom Eternal's single player will be hugely loved but the multiplayer will be filled with egregious monetization
  • Bethesda will show off Deathloop and Ghostwire at e3, with one of them being a next gen launch title and the other being spring 2021. both will look more GaaS-y than people expect and they will continue the recent trend of Bethesda games turning off their existing fans while failing to find new ones
  • Starfield will not be shown
  • WB will announce Rocksteady and WB Montreal's DC games and the Harry Potter game, with WB Montreals releasing just before next gen launch and the other 2 being 2021. Rocksteady's game will basically be DC Destiny and get a mixed reaction, while the other 2 are met with more positive reception
  • Avengers won't be the disaster that many recent GaaS games have been but won't be as successful as a AAA Avengers game should be

A record number of bans in November

Also in attempt to show their push for more Asian games, Microsoft announce the acquisition of two developers from the continent (one major, one minor) and their E3 -- aside from their first/second-party titles -- is pretty much entirely dedicated to the region, showing multiplayer shooters from Korea; Yakuza 7 will release on Xbox One on the same date as the PS4 in the West; a Persona 5 Royal port is announced (leading to more port-begging bans); plenty of Elden Ring footage before leading into a very short teaser of a Miyazaki-led sci-fi Soulslike.

  1. The Last of Us Part 2 will be the consensus game of the year - giving Sony Interactive a three-peat in consensus GOTY awards.
  2. The Breath of the Wild sequel won't release in 2020.
  3. The Xbox Series X and PS5 will release and neither will have a sales advantage worldwide by the end of the year. Nintendo Switch will sell more than both in the holiday period.
  4. Epic Games Store will continue offering free games well into 2020.
  5. Microsoft will stop subsidizing Gamepass so heavily, but the games added to the service will continue to garner attention and plaudits.
  6. Cyberpunk 2077 will be delayed, and the overall story will disappoint. CDPR will attempt to course correct with an announcement of free story dlc. Despite the odds, the game will actually more fun to play mechanically than expected.

Actual predictions - not hopes and dreams

PS5 and X will be close to one another in performance, though X will be more powerful
FFVII will sell on a level most cannot fathom, whether complete or not.
PS5 sells more WW. X and PS5 neck and neck in the US
PS5 launch lineup will be surprising, and cement the status of Sony having best exclusives
PS5 backwards compatibility is better than originally expected and reported
Halo Infinite will be the best version of Halo in awhile, now. (It just has to be)
MS has an RPG ready to go around launch, probably Fable
BotW II doesn't make it out in 2020, delayed to Spring of 2021

Now hopes and dreams ...

Either the PS5 or X are $399 - this isn't going to happen
MS has a new Blue Dragon game
Insomniac has a new IP for the PS5 at launch
Horizon II is ready at launch for PS5
Nintendo shows off the new Metroid during E3 direct, along with BotW sequel - full gameplay

G.o.T. to be low 80 MC
Too early for HZD2
R.a.D. will show something.
Kojima will have a very short teaser for something horror. 2023 at the earliest.
PS5 will be less powerful than XSX, but TLOUs, Spidermen, Gow's, GTs, Orders, Horizons, etc will have people think the gap isn't there or is in Sony's favour.

Nintendo
No idea, but no botw2.
Switch update.

Cyberpunk is good, CDPR teases next project TWIV
Capcom has sequels to 2 old IPs
Sega also revives old-ish IP

Okay, here we go: [UPDATE: November 24th - 12:47PM]

Nintendo:

- BOTW
2 will not released this year, launches 2021. [Correct]
- No Switch Pro this year. [Good, Nintendo doesn't need an revision]
- Switch Hardware sales starts to decline due PS5/XSX release at holidays.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a biggest AC game critically and commercially success, become a trending monumental. [Nailed It, this trending stills unstoppable]
- Third Party ports could be surprised for the fans. [Too sadly to bring some third party ports to Switch, but some games looks excited on the hybrid].
- No mainline Pokémon game this year (since 2015). [Correct, we have two DLC's this year with new pokemons and returning dozens of creatures]
- Pikmin 3 & MPT HD Remasters will be released. [Partially Correct, the 2013 port has getting a Switch version this October]
- Nintendo 3DS officially discontinued. [Nailed It, is the End of an Era for traditional handhelds, it was a great run! ='(]
- Bayonetta 3 re-revealed at E3, 2021 release. [Since E3 got cancelled this year, we don't know about Bayonetta 3 news until end of the year or 2021].
- Smash Ultimate brings more third party characters and one of them will be exploded the internet. [Only we have Steve from Minecraft as a third party fighter, this game is a old fashioned most beloved best selling game ever but the kids gonna be loving it.]
- Bravely Default II will be good, NMH3...will be mixed. [Periodically, Bravely Default II and NMH3 were delayed til 2021]
- Mario Odyssey 2 will release this year, GOTY contender. [Despite of COVID, Super Mario are celebrating his 35th Birthday with 3D All Stars, a Battle Royale speedrunning and some spin-off games like Mario Kart Live].
- Switch at 80 million units in total by the end of the year.
- NSO continues to be irrelevant in online infrastructure.
- Metroid Prime 4 currently in development, not showing this year.

Sony:

- PS5, November 20, $399, less powerful than XSX, expect massive bans about the discussion of the performance. [Partially Correct in terms of power/price, but inaccurate release dates (November 12), also we have Digital Edition as Discless console if you believe to playing digital games]
- Sony refuses to going to E3 this year, will be a proper conference at some point. [UPDATE June 11: This presentation was good for me, and Sony did it to reveal several games and his hardware reveal]
- TLOU Part II is better than the original, 96+ MC, will sweep several GOTY's. [Despite of the controversy, this game it could be highly likely Chance to get GOTY Awards by the end of the year.]
- Ghost of Tsushima is received commercially/critical success. [Sucker Punch becomes one of the best developers to create a new IP into a massive hit]
- HZD2 is announced, Spring or Summer 2021. [That's TRUE!, it's Horizon II: Forbbiden West]
- Dreams is critically acclaimed but commercially poorly. [Great, i'd predicted this back in February and actually this game is acclaimed but solds poorly]
- Godfall will be the biggest disappointing launch title, also the year. [I nailed it, an $70 Online-Only action game averaged with Marvel's Avengers was too skeptical by the media reception, i believe that this game also coming to other platforms but is Dead on Arrival, in few years this game is set directly to the graveyard].
- Sony acquires Bluepoint Games. [Sometimes, looks 50/50 between the news to be confirmed or dismissed, shall we in the 2021 prediction thread].
- PS4 Slim/Pro/VR to be price drop ($199/$249/$299) by summer 2020. [I don't see price drop this summer because COVID is an big problem]

Microsoft:

- Halo Infinite will be legendary becoming the best selling game of XSX/XBO, also praised by the critics and an truly GOTY contender. [The game was delayed to 2021 being problematic about the bad optimization, Halo Infinite requires many months to crunching thier mistakes to release at some point on every Xbox console by Holiday 2021, coinciding with the 20th Anniversary.]
- Xbox Game Pass has a best year yet, bringing more titles to the subscription services.
- Xcloud becoming an Killer App.
- Hellblade II will coming in 2021, gameplay reveal at E3. [For two details about the progress of the game after the presentation, we expect this sequel in two or three years]
- Persona 5 coming to Xbox/PC (specially GamePass) for the first time. Sony Fans are shocked and raged.
- Xbox Series S to be launched alongside the X version. [Nailed It, November 10 $200 dollars less than Series X].
- Microsoft acquires Techland and of course... Platinum Games. [Platinum will be self-publishing because Tencent had a minority stake]
- Ori & The Will of Whisp praised by the critics. [Yeah, Moon Studios continues deserve this masterpiece].
- Forza Motorsport 8 revealed, XSX launch title (also coming to Xbox One). [Just Forza Motorsport, and will miss the launch]

Others:

- Half Life: Alyx marking the first AAA VR game to be extremely success both critical and commercial. GOTY contender could be depending. [Okay, HL: Alyx had a great progress over the years create this game to be acclaimed, and the VR sales did it perfect like as hotcakes, probably we have some GOTY's by end of the year, hopefully].
- Stadia stills irrelevant.
- GameStop chapter 13 bankruptcy. [Reggie saved the company by the last minute back in summer, surviving the COVIDpocalypse].
- EA shuts down BioWare, Dragon Age IV cancelled. [Dragon Age IV now in development, Casie Hudson involved]
- Ikumi Nakamura finally getting a better place to make games in most beloved Japanese studio. [Ikumi Nakamura, i'm sorry, best wishes wherever you are]
- Epic Games Store exclusives continues unstoppable, including an Japanese game that could be shocked and raged by the fans.
- An iconic developer will be passed away.
- Cyberpunk 2077 is the most commented and popular video game of the year, will be incredible success and faces with TLOU Part II in the GOTY Race.

- Starfield and TESVI will be no showing this year. [Along with the Bethesda Digital Event / Conference, we don't have details of these games to come in near future].
- Overwatch 2 release date at Blizzcon, May 2021. [BlizzCon event moved to February 2021]
- Rockstar Games thinks that GTA V will be launched on next-gen consoles. But no new games to be announced this year. [Absolulety Nailed It!, Next-Gen versions (PS5 / XSX) will be released next year i've predicted and finally got it!]

- Elden Ring is an 2021 title, cross-gen, E3 gameplay reveal.
- Tons of streamers and youtubers are moving to Twitch, Mixer and Facebook Gaming (exclusivity deal). [With Mixer ceases and desist, lots of streamers had missing opportunities to stay in a "best" platform like YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Gaming to gaining viewers after Mixer executed. I'll telling more details before the next year prediction].
- BG&E2 still on alpha, not showing.
- Just Dance 2021 coming to Wii and still refuse to die peacefully. [This game will coming to Switch/PS5/PS4/Xbox/Stadia on Novemeber, Wii you're have a great run]

Sony:
Dino Crisis will be the first 3rd party game shown at PS5's reveal show. The demo will begin with the PS1 T-Rex demo before zooming out from an in-game TV.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 will be the big launch game for PS5 w/3.5 years development time.
The Last of Us Online will be a standalone release for PS5 only.
BluePoint is working on a revision of Demon's Souls.
BluePoint will join Sony.
PS5 SSD read-speed is ridiculous and can only be done due to end-to-end control of specialized hardware + software stack. Cited as the biggest game-changer by several developers.
Iron Man VR is the last big 1st party PSVR game on PS4. All internal developers (Insomniac, Sony London, Manchester etc.) are now focusing on PSVR2/PS5 for 2021.
Ghost of Tsushima is the last big 1st party exclusive on PS4.

Microsoft:
Xbox Live will become free. Gamepass & XCloud will be Microsoft's only paid gaming services.
Xbox Series X will lead on TFlops performance and rumored Sony 9.2tf vs Series X 12tf remains largely on point come November 2020.
Lockhart / Xbox Series S will receive a notable amount of flak from several developers from holding back the generational-shift.
A Japanese developer of good-repute will be bought. Will not help Microsoft much in Japan outside of PC.
A Korean developer of good-repute will be bought.
Asobo Studio (Microsoft Flight Simulator, A Plague Tale) joins Microsoft.

Nintendo:
A midgen hardware refresh (similar to Pro/One X) will be announced to release alongside Zelda BOTW 2 in the spring of 2021.

PC:
Dune 3 RTS game will be announced in development by Petroglyph Games (ex-Westwood) and Funcom.
Half-Life: Alyx will win several notable GOTY's despite being a VR game.

Other:
Cyberpunk delayed until September.
Xbox Series S, PS5, Xbox Series X will all have different price-points.
Oculus will release a 'Deluxe Strap' for the Quest for better long-term comfort and better audio.
Crytek gets bought.
Remedy gets bought.
Gamestop goes bankrupt.
Stadia will be struggling due to lack of original content among other reasons.

The biggest surprise is Nintendo and MS do something completely out of left field and unexpected which shocks the gaming world.

Switch 2/plus whatever rumors begin for a winter 2021 launch, and dazzles at its capabilities with Nvidia touting some kind of mobile Ray tracing hardware gibberish which causes many fights on forums world wide. This will also be part of the MS surprise venture with Nintendo.

Switch will be the highest-selling console this year by a wide margin, with MS making a big comeback due to an aggressive price point for XSX (399) or something like it which forces Sony to react quickly on price.

Cyberpunk delays twice into 2021.

Microsoft will find out there's a big fabrication error with the new Xbox and delays the launch to february 2021. Giving Sony a huge headstart.

Sony also has some big issues with the PS5 but launches anyway. Lots of people are complaining with broken PS5's.

Ghost of Tsushima is just missing their 'summer 2020' window by 2 weeks. Game is a lot of peoples' favourite at the end of the year.

Nintendo announces a new Mario Kart and it releases November 2020. No word about BotW2 though.

Doom Eternal beats Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us p2 at the VGA's and wins GOTY

Cyberpunk turns out to be disappointing mess.
yup, I'm going with the big guns here. And before anyone jumps on this, I'm excited by cyberpunk... however I just have this nagging feeling that something is going to go extremely wrong. Like anthem or andromeda wrong.
Other than that:
- halo infinite gets delayed
- activision might actually delay a cod for once (like I said, I'm going with the big money bets), and instead focus on mw maybe through a big patch, like battlefield 5 pacific content

Edit - Maybe throw in that Sony acquires a new studio (maybe remedy) and alongside teases a new exclusive game at one of their conferences. Also Kojima already starts teasing his new game like the mad lad that he is
People had the same feeling with Witcher 3 as well

-For Sony/Microsoft year is kind of a repeat of 2013 in terms of game lineups. TLOU2 and Cyberpunk, both released on last gen consoles, dominate the discourse. Next-gen Xbox and PS5 have petty tepid launch lineups this time around but it's pretty well alleviated by BC. Both sell very well day 1.

-Nintendo has kind of a quiet year in general, a few delays happen. Bayonetta is one of their biggest releases and it doesn't have a lot of fanfare amidst next-gen console launches. Odyssey 2 announced at E3 but doesn't come out until 2020.

-A new Nintendo action game IP not developed by Platinum gets announced and released within the year.

-Animal Crossing New Horizons is a huge deal on social media and ends up selling well above expectations.

-FF7 Remake.....ends up coming and going. It's sort of a big deal for a week or two and then everyone forgets about it. By the end of the year people forget it came out this year. It has its fans but no lasting impact, FF7 PS1 is still seen as the definitive version for years to come but people don't hate the remake.

-Valve announces a followup to Half-Life Alyx by the end of the year, which is received extremely well. People not into VR are consistently mad about the game's entire existence throughout the year.

-EGS vs. Steam continues to be a thing, basically the same as last year with no notable changes in the discourse or policies.

-Sinnoh remakes come out. The Pokemon fanbase: "Thanks, I hate it".

-Death Come True/Death March Club is my personal Game of the Year.

Xbox Series X will cost more than the PS5 like in 2013. The difference this time is that it will be a lot more powerful and they'll use the lockhart to corner the entry level market. Both will do well imo at launch.

I guess (in USD)

Series X: $599
PS5: $499
Lockhart: $399

For my 2019 Predictions, looks like I was 2.5/14 - not my best showing.

My 2020 predictions, some of which I'm rolling over to this year:

Xbox:
  1. New Xbox Games Studio - either acquired or started fresh.
  2. Playdead's (Limbo, Inside) new game is given a title and trailer at the Xbox E3 show
  3. Xbox Series X - $500. Launches with Halo Infinite, FM8, 1 first party AA game, 1 XGS published 3rd party exclusive
  4. A major third party (AAA) game launches into Gamepass on day 1
Sony:
  1. Sony is back at E3
  2. PS5 is $399-450. Launches with a new Gorilla Games game as the headline launch title.
  3. PSVR2 is hinted at, but not revealed.
Other:
  1. Unreal Engine 5 is revealed at GDC
  2. Discord is Acquired. I think a large company like Amazon, Epic, Microsoft, or Google would be likely to pursue something like this.
  3. Ikumi Nakamura becomes Creative Director of a new publisher owned studio
  4. Next gen hardware launch (PS5 and XSX combined) outpace PS4 and XB1 sales in the launch year (2020 vs 2013).

Hopefully, I'm not too late for this. The only big news we got so far this year is about Pokemon 2020 so your sweet DP remakes dreams are postponed to 2021 already lol.

Anyhow, here's mine:
1. Starfield and TES6 will yet again skip E3 without any mention from Bethesda other than the usual "development's going well".
2. Squenix's Avenger will underperform critically (will probably score around 70-75).
3. Metroid will yet again won't make an appearance this year in any form or shape.
4. Rockstar will either announce a new game or a big expansion for RDR2 towards the end of the year (yeah I know this is a bold one).
5. Baldur's Gate 3 will not release this year, it's too damn ambitious.
6. The Last of Us Part II will generate about the same acclaim as the first one, many will consider it a benchmark for storytelling in video games and will win most GOTY awards.
7. Breath of the Wild 2 won't release this year but will make a big appearance at E3. A mainline Maio game, on the other hand, will release this year.
8. Microsoft will announce a HUGE Minecraft update that will release this holiday / early 2021, they'll claim it's the biggest update to Minecraft yet.
9. Switch Pro is real, but it's not the "Pro" people wanted it to be but more in the lines of New 3DS; better+bigger screen, slightly improved hardware for shorter install/load times, 64GB internal storage, maybe HDR support, and a few more minor improvements.
10. PS5 won't have an insane launch-day line-up like people suggesting it'll have, instead, Sony will go on the Nintendo Switch route of promising a steady stream of exclusives (and timed exclusives) spread all across 2021-2022.

New 3DS was massively more powerful than the base model, to the point where it had exclusive games.

Cyberpunk is a smashing success, out reviewing TW3 and selling comparable, if not better, numbers. It is wholly loved for being an original concept and praised as being the RPG Bethesda fans have dreamed of Fallout/Elder Scrolls turning into. The immersive sim, FPS, custom character, branching gameplay and story paths, etc. It's definitely a departure of RPG style from TW3.

The Last of Us Part II proves that a sequel was fine in spite of the people who insist it didn't need one. Druckmann will show that maybe it didn't *need* one but he'll blow our socks off anyways.

PS5 has a slightly below PS4 launch, but overall console launch numbers are up as Series X outperforms Xbone.

BOTW will be "announced" (gameplay and more details) but releases in early 2021.

Sony's launch lineup will either be a little shit or will be crossgen games like a PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima. The first big PS5 exclusive will be Horizon 2 which will be within the launch window, sorta like inFamous: Second Son was for PS4, but not actually on launch day.

God of War 2/5 will be announced and it will be hype as hell.

The fanboy wars for GOTY between Cyberpunk and TLoU II will be insane. Throw in a little FF7 Remake and if it releases, BOTW 2, and now we're talking. I think those first 2 will be where its' at though. CDPR and Naughty Dog have more fans than any studio out there aside from maybe Nintendo (which is a little cheatsy considering the output and different studios there). I think Cyberpunk will win however, the main reason due to it being an original concept while TLoU won't be anything new, though impeccable.

People are talking about a Switch Pro with 4K capabilities which would mean a major upgrade over the existing one, even achieving 1080p portable resolution would require a much better GPU. The better CPU in the N3DS allowed for more steady FPS in some games, but Nintendo's marketing for N3DS focused on the improved load times and the eye-tracking 3D IIRC. It did have 2 major exclusives in XC3D and HW:DE but I don't think the same thing will happen for the Switch. In all their business meetings Nintendo keeps reiterating the idea that the goal of releasing a family of devices is to appeal to more people and not necessarily to force existing costumers to upgrade.

Late predictions, but better late then never:
The first parties:

Besides the already announced games, Nintendo will release Mario Golf, Mario Party 2, and Bayonetta 3 in 2020.
Besides the already announced ports, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World ports will also release in 2020.
Zelda BOTW sequel, New 3D Mario, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Metroid Prime 4 will NOT be released in 2020.
Grand Theft Auto 5 for Nintendo Switch be announced and released in 2020.

Sony has three big pillar titles for 2020. The Last of Us 2 (May 29th), Ghost of Tsushima (which I'll put in September slot), and the Bluepoint Remake, which is a Playstation 5 exclusive launch game.
Horizon Zero Dawn's sequel by Guerilla will NOT launch in 2020.

Microsoft's 2 tentpole titles will be lined up for Scarlet Launch. Which will be Halo Infinite, and Forza Motorsport (pseudo-reboot). Forza Motorsport adopts a GT sport like GaaS structure, will be updated throught the next gen, with no sequel, until much later on. Halo Infinite will operate similarly.
Playground Games' New RPG will be announced at E3 2020, with a 2021 release window.
Ori: The Will of the Wisps and Battletoads will release on Nintendo Switch before the end of the year.
Hellblade II: Senua's Saga will NOT release in 2020.

Batman Arkham Legacy will be announced alongside the PS5 launch event, which will be in February. Will be a next-gen only title.
The leaked Harry Potter title will be announced at Xbox E3, will also be a next gen only title.
A new Splinter Cell title will be announced at Ubisoft E3, next gen.

Cyberpunk 2077 will achieve critical acclaim and receive numerous awards for Game of the Year.

I can probably go on forever, but I'll stop.

I think 2077 will be a letdown which is mostly universally praised at first, but then subsequently derided as the year goes on.

Since I'm not seeing it mentioned much:

- Beyond Good & Evil 2 is going the No Man's Sky route: overpromising, disappointing launch, fix a lot of stuff post-launch.

Going from 30 to 60 fps takes a lot of processor grunt. I think people thinking that a boost in CPU and storage speeds will lead to some fundamental change in what games are like will be sorely disappointed, though.
When current gen released, the mobile cpu and gpu were already outdated from the start and yet devs have given us some amazing games.
Next gen has a modern cpu along with gpu and if you think games will look the same but run slightly better, then you are in for a big surprise. I agree that early year 1 (cross) games won't look MUCH better (as they are still developed with current fen in mind), but as soon as next gen exclusives start dropping, you gonna look back at your post and smile
