Smallish changes on my end since the last thread: sold off some older speakers I had laying around and traded in my 8351A left, right and center speakers for three 8361As. Shifted the placement of the speakers around a little bit, too. Also managed to snag a PS5 at launch, which replaced the PS4 Pro in the living room. Lastly on the living room side of things, I had some acoustic panels (not pictured) and some wave fold curtains in an attempt to deal with some of the reverb inherent to the space. Overall looks and feels a bit more homely now, too. Cabling isn't the prettiest in the world, but that can wait.
On the PC side of things, I managed to get myself a PC with most of the bells and whistles I wanted. No fancy pictures of that one, though. Big upgrade in every department, as my last one was built in 2015.

Mad fer it.Moved into a new apartment at the beginning of the year, and made a lot of changes to the setup. Unfortunately the flash on my phone is not working correctly so all these pictures came out very blurry. The LED lighting is nowhere near as drastic looking in person.
We just moved into an older house, and I was able to turn the basement into an official game room with lots of built in shelving for my collection :)

Deciding which hardware revisions "count" is a tough call and I don't see a clear line you have drawn there so those are the most glaring holes I see.

Yeah they're Energy something. Doubt I'll do an upgrade as we honestly rarely use them to much advantage. I game with a headset pretty much all the time and otherwise mostly only watch cable (mostly sports) in that room and surround sucks for that. I do need to get a new receiver as mine isn't 4k capable and it get issues with sound not working often with optical out from the tv to it. Just waiting for ones with working HDMI 2.1 to hit.

Most other setups in this thread feel crazy luxurous to me (yes, I'm jealous as fuck lol), so this balances stuff out. Plus I bet a lot of members on ERA have setups like these. They, as me, shouldn't be ashamed to post these just as nice-places!

2. Acoustic cloud with fiber optic stars in front of projector screen. This will help with light reflection from screen and serve as acoustic cloud.

Oh that's for a window? For some reason I thought your set up was basement based. (Been looking at pics on mobile so it's a tad hard to discern some things .)
So I'm in the market for a projector, how do you find the contrast on yours? Do you find any wash out on dark images or grayish instead of black?
A few months back (before I officially retired the ps4 pro), but set up still essentially the same. I've done some cable management/cleanup in the interim though.

The contrast of my projector is outstanding. It's the highest native contrast projector you can get from JVC. Actually I think it's the highest native contrast projector you can get under 35k. JVC's have the best blacks by far for projectors. Black is black. I wouldn't say it is OLED black but if there is an OLED type projector in lamp based projector it's the RS3000. It's basically the OLED of the projector world, but that unfortunately comes with a price.
I would say if you can swing it, an NX9/RS3000 is the way to go, though that is somewhat unreasonable in most cases for a lot of people, so I would suggest looking at the NX7 or RS2000

My main TV is an LG CX 77" with an XSX and a PS4. I have a storage room directly behind my TV so the majority of the cords are hidden.
My wall of couches are on the other side along with my band posters & autographs
I built some small custom shelves to support Xbox charge stands. The white Ethernet cable is driving me insane but my son is very interested in gaming so I wanted him to have a better connection.
I custom built 3 Xbox themed shelves. Unfortunately the consoles and laptop cover the designs but know they are there :)
In between mine and my son's setups are some shelving for miscellaneous figures.
Next is my son's setup with an LG B6 55" with an XSS and a Switch.
Then my daughter has an older Samsung with an XB1X and a Wii U. She's a much more casual gamer so this is all she's after.
I also made a travel case for my Xbox Series X.I bought new sets of cords and everything so that all I have to do is pack my Xbox, controllers and headset and I'm good to go.

That's the Kaleidescape. That interface was originally made by them. Everyone else just copied it. It's a great interface though. Nothing like having a wall full of movies to just scroll through.
in the case of Kaleidescape though I can buy a movie from the unit, desktop store, or mobile and and by the time I'm ready to watch it it's already downloaded. So I don't have to do any copying/ripping, transferring etc. the movie is downloaded directly to unit from the mezzanine file.

Yeah though you want to select screen based on room and light conditions. Such as if you room is blacked out you don't want a grey screen. You want a Unity white or a higher gain screen. White will give the most accurate color from a starting point. Now say if you have light colored walls, like a super light gray, or white, then you will want a gray screen.
Projection is really a 3 piece cohesive set up. Room + Screen + Projector. When you look at Room it is lighting and color of walls. If it isn't light controlled you will need a ALR gray screen most likely. If it is light controlled you have to look at the wall color. If they are white for instance you have to consider projection is based on reflection.
So Projector reflects light off screen to produce picture, but with white walls you have to realize projector reflects light of screen, which then hits white walls, which in turn reflects back to screen, so you would again want a ALR gray screen most likely. If walls are dark, and room is light controlled you will want a white screen Unity gain (matte white) which is 1.0 gain at least. Or a higher gain screen.
You also have to factor in screen size, with throw distance a lumens. So basically once you know your room, then you know you screen. Once you know your screen then you figure out the projector, which then comes back round to room and throw distance, lumens needed etc. The exception is you go big with projector and then it kind of doesn't matter because it will likely have the lumens and large throw distance to work in most any install
That is the correct design way in how to do it. Many don't follow that method but from a integration and design approach that is how you make the selection.

By what you said, the place I'm considering has black out curtains but the walls and ceiling is a very bright white wallpaper.
If I were to add black wall curtains (and somehow put them on the ceiling as well), then a white screen should still work, that about right? (The floor has carpeting so that shouldn't cause any reflection I believe.)
Things that have changed since last year are the PS5 (behind the TV), the TV itself , AVR, and two Atmos up firing speakers:

Not really a gaming set up but I just got the M1 Mac Mini, upgraded to 16GB and 512GB. To go with it, also got the Logitech MX3 and the MX Keys keyboard. I've purchased the 27inch LG GN 950 4K 144Hz panel for it which is an overkill but also planning on building a gaming PC down the line, so took the plunge on a quality panel and I absolutely love the screen.
I got my standing desk right behind the couch overseeing the TV, so monitor is going to be on the right side of the desk. So far so good with the set up but I need to figure out my cable management, need to buy some accessories for the cables to make sure they don't fall out of place.

Desk is from Ikea but here in India there aren't many options. IDÅSEN is this specific model. The desk doesn't have much wobble but the monitor seems to a a little as I'm typing this out.

It's a retro handheld that's loaded up with tons of old games, Anbernic RG351V. I have an actual gaming setup but I was being cheeky with my post as this little thing is all I've been playing since I received it a month or so ago.

Doesn't look like a catalogue but it's functional (and unabashedly nerdy).
55" 4K Samsung as the primary TV which is also hooked up to my gaming computer, with a 24" LG for the second computer monitor. Then I have a 1080p projector and a 120" projector screen that lowers in front of the TV.
Just got a 20" CRT about a month ago, for light gun games.
Everything except for the NES top loader and Virtual Boy (those are just for display) is hooked up and ready to go:
PS2, RGB modded N64, Xbox, and Wii all running into an OSSC. A Switch, Wii U, PS3, PS4 Pro, Xbox 360, NES Classic, PlayStation Classic, Genesis Mini, and SNES Classic running into a series of HDMI switches.
Also got a real SNES hooked up to the CRT. My other consoles are in storage but I'd like to get an ODE for my Dreamcast and get that hooked up too.
Any source can be sent to either the TV or the projector.
Wall mount Ikea racks for all the DVD case-sized games.
Pretty cozy, actually! Then again, my wife keeps the thermostat at 70 year-round.
