This is undocked and not overclocked or streamed? If that's the case, I can't believe my eyes! I look forward to the port!

That is handheld. This is where it drops down to 540p later on:

72359941-10162821192530157-1229341492632354816.jpg

Obviously it's no prized chicken compared to PCs that have the availability to basically produce visuals vastly better, but for a 6 inch tablet I'm pretty happy considering it's the entire game and I can play it on my bus journey to work and on my lunch breaks, especially when the frame-rate only seems to drip when cut-scenes (I've noticed nothing major so far in game) start and then level out and it seemed to be one cut scene near the tutorial section (seems like something that could be patched out).

Here's where it ramps back up to 720p:

72383512-10162821373050157-815866482688576716.jpg

It really makes me want a Red Dead Redemption 1+2 port for the Switch. For me personally I'm happy with the compromises Witcher 3 brings on the Switch, others may not.

Edit: Weird my screenshots seem to switch between 540p and 720p despite me playing exclusively in handheld.

The screens probably don't look great when blown up on a computer monitor, but DAMN is this game seriously impressive. I've always preferred lower resolution to no anti-aliasing so the soft IQ doesn't bother me at all. More ports like this, please.

I always feel that could be the number one reason people shit on something like handheld mode in the Witcher is because they're being blown up on a 1080p or 4k monitor.

Sometimes I feel it's more representative of taking a photo of your Switch on a camera so people can see what it's like through one's own eyes on that tiny screen. Because yeah on a high end gaming monitor that a good amount of Era members have screenshots don't look as good as seeing it actually on the Switch screen.

The game is running in handheld mode with overclocks. Furthermore, I've installed two mods. The first mod enables additional postprocessing options (see below). I've changed Sharpening to High and Foliage Visibility Range to Ultra, as well as disabled anti-aliasing. The second mod sets the minimum dynamic resolution to 1100x616. With overclocks and the above settings, the game maintains a pretty stable 30 fps and looks sharp on the 6" display.

Call of Cthulhu - kind of a blurry mess, but I still find it impressive that such a game is available on a portable device

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition - seems like a great port visually, it looks great on the Switch screen

Witcher 3 looks hot.

Disaster Report 4 looks fuzzy.

I'm between games(got Dusk Diver coming this weekend) so have some God Eater 3 in the meantime.

Wow, that looks so good! Definitely worth modding the Switch for this.

JRPG's vs WRPG's. Two amazing WRPG's (plus a mediocre one) and two amazing JRPG's (plus a mediocre one).

What clocks are you running at in handheld mode?

Whoa, people weren't kidding when they said Xenoblade 2 looked bad undocked. That looks fucking terrible. Like a small third-party dev made it and not Nintendo.
Yeah, it's rough. And Torna is supposedly better than the base game. It's a shame, because the game looks great when docked. It's the only game that forced me to play on my TV, which is why I don't have many undocked screenshots of it.

My config is:
INI:
[01003D100E9C6000]
; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition
handheld_charging_gpu=768
handheld_mem=1600
handheld_cpu=1326
handheld_charging_official_cpu=1785
handheld_charging_official_gpu=921
docked_cpu=1785
docked_gpu=921

The shots were taken running on the official charger, meaning GPU at 921 MHz and CPU at 1785 MHz. I'm typically using my travel charger, thus running at the 768/1326 configuration. I'm not noticing a ton of difference between the two configurations. At max clocks and brightness, the system draws about 22.5 W from the charger during the most stressing part of my test (The Bloody Baron's Castle).

Which image hosting site is best to post images?

I use https://abload.de/.

People should indicate if they use their overclocked Switch, it's not really fair to use the docked clocks in the undocked thread ! I mean if I come to check some screens for a game I'd like to know that this is what I'll get or not :D

Xenoblade 2 has a really aggressive sharpening filter which looks good docked and at the higher bounds of undocked play but when the resolution drops it really negatively impacts it. Torna is improved in that regard but the filter is still there causing the weird artifacts around character models.

Gormott, the area in those screens, seems to be the worse affected area though(off the top of my head), it's most open landmass and has a lot of the cloud sea rendered(a volumetric smoke-like effect).

RDR1 on Switch would be freakin' sweet. I don't think I can assume that RDR2 as-is is possible on Switch though, that game is an absolute beast technically speaking.

Love xenoblade 2 it's my favorite rpg / 2nd favorite game on the system ( Smash is first ) but yeah the game looks butt ugly in handheld mode. And pretty average on tv shame Monolithsoft had to get this out of the door early
