Nine months is an incredibly long amount of time to talk about the console. I'd be fine with them not even saying anything in Feb either. It'll be the same console whether they announce now or later.

they are making you all wait so when you finally buy the PS5 and boot it up the loading times will seem even faster compared to the waiting times you had to endure for PS5 news

What difference does it make? They will release their console and games all the same and you'll know enough in time to decide if you want one. It will be a box that runs prettier games than PS4.
Frankly, I find this obsession with hype and having to be fed info all the time a bit unhealthy... and sometimes embarrassing.

Another thread on this topic, another opportunity to post this children's book.

I think this makes 3? Maybe 4?

people will say the WB ruined everyone's hype for a Batman game for teasing it and not revealing it for months but think it's cool and good and doesn't matter than a console manufacturer has been silent for months

i don't think sony being quiet is bad but this place absolutely gives them a pretty free ride when they would be complaining about literally anyone else

It works, people are going crazy! Anticipation/hype is palpable. Threads like this one are a good example and so was the PS5 logo unveiling earlier this month.
And why is it so important for you "to be ready" in a time where Apple & Samsung announcements are two/three months ahead of release or less? I know it's not necessarily the same market but it seems to work well for them.
I don't like silence either but I have many things to do and hundreds of games to play while we wait.

I just wish we knew when we would hear from them again. We know they have a ton to show eventually but the lack of a known timeframe on when we'll hear about it makes the wait frustrating.

I think people need to remember that Sony still has some major blockbusters left to drop. The Last of Us and Final Fantasy 7 Remake are their tentpole exclusive releases for this year so it doesn't bug me that their not talking about PS5. Oh and Nioh 2...and Dreams. I think it's fair to say if they didn't have this kind of slate of releases, we would've been hearing more about the PS5. Sony letting the games talk and It will work.

I hate this thread because the moment Sony announces the PS5 with games for launch and launch window everybody is going to say that they love Sony and they are the best!

The problem is not that Sony is silent (which hasn't been), the problem is that people are impatient.

Why are you so addicted to hype? I don't want multi billion dollar companies to have a face or a persona. They are not your friends for the last time Goddamn it.

I'm still ridin high on that FF7 trailer from today, no problems here. Plus all the games I have to play. I would like to have an announcement for the meeting even if it's months from now so people could calm down, but whatever

Nothing to talk about OR play these days, so yeah, not super happy with it.

how do you have nothing to play? There's hundreds of games that I still want to play on

Is it too much to hope for maybe a surprise SuperBowl TV spot? I'm thirsty for information lol.

There are numerous gigantic games releasing for the current gen consoles. I'll take the PS5 news whenever they're ready to give it. I've got a ton of stuff coming up to keep me more than busy.

Don't care. As long as the product they deliver in the end is good then I will be satisfied. I care about playing video game, not being part of some big happy (fake) PlayStation family where this brand pretends to care about me.

Anyone who is worried about the lack of communication is somehow blinded by fanboyism towards one company or another. We will have all the details before the holiday season and we don't need it 10 months in advance. Stop being irrational and play some games.

Would we even know they were skipping E3 if they're hand hadn't forced by rumors.

I understand cards close to your chest but there is clearly some sort of commotion taking place at PlayStation, not saying its huge but its something, with Shawn Layden let go randomly and rumors of entire redo of ps5, the silence is not a good sign imo. I don't think they need to do a full reveal right now or anything but they've never been this quiet before about anything.

Its fun watching next gen thread going crazy, I dont really mind if they dont say something, until around march/april, at last, i think they should start talking about it around there.

Don't care really other than I want to know if the backwards compatibility extends beyond PS4. I mean give me a date and a preorder link I'll buy it now. Most people posting here are probably the same way.

I don't like anticipation.

it's not just Sony for me. I generally hate all console reveals to when preorders go up until I secure a day one preorder.

After that and I get my day one console I don't care how the companies chooses to share their info.

Their silence is causing the carnival of stupid that is the next gen thread to spill out into the rest of the forum so I'm definitely not happy about that.

It is what it is.

Neutral. I want to find out what their plan is. But it's not frustrating me that they haven't revealed what it is yet. It's not like I have nothing else to do in the meantime.

Happy is a weird sentiment. I'm ok with that Sony* takes their time. But I would like to know more.

* It's Sony, not Playstation.

They'll reveal the PS5 when they're ready.
I'll be excited when that happens but I'm not going to whine about it if it doesn't happen exactly when I want it to.

The PS5 and SX might be the last traditional console generation. Just enjoy the ride.

I was fine before, but now January has come and gone and I'm getting a little anxious. Especially after their P5R tweet today. 🖕

I'm waiting but seems like you're having a harder time than me op.

I think there's still time for reasonable marketing, it's who might be impatient for now I guess.

I don't like it but I ultimately don't give a shit because it's obvious they're going to speak up eventually so whatever.

As far as I can tell, the issues people have with Sony's relative quietness boil down to not getting exactly what you want when you want it which is childish.

The Xbox One was first announced in May of its launch year.

The PS4 was first announced on February 20 in it's launch year.

Sony is focused on the PS5 and it is backwards compatible so even if they have PS4 games left to announce then they will be used to give attention to the PS5 as well. There is nothing to announce. If they haven't started talking in June then it is very noteworthy. For now, we know what we need: the last big PS4 games launching before the PS5.

I feel their PR strategy has been terrible regardless of if there's a big blowout of PS5 informatiion later.

IMO you pretty much want to take any chance you have to communicate to the audience..

I'm thinking June might be the time to go all out. After TLOU2 and (hopefully) GOT are out. With no E3 presence they can go full on crazy with a console reveal and a ton of game reveals.

I mean, yeah I would love some announcements right now, but I'm not bothered by it that much. Just gotta be patient.

Having info is nice, but you already have the most important info: it's coming this year. Everything else is gravy.

Still too early in the year to be worried. I am chill.

If we don't get anything by August then maybe, but it is still like 9-10 more months to go until the PS5 releases. They have plenty of time.

In the end it is most important that they get the console, features and games right. I would rather have great games than a perfect E3 presentation and I really do love these events. Maybe we get a big event this year where Sony goes all out around summer.

The fact that this thread exists proves their marketing is working just fine for them. They don't need to announce anything until they're ready. Nobody talks about the Series X without adding PS5 into the conversation.

They're literally saving resources by not saying anything and still building hype. They posted the PS5 logo on Instagram and it was the most liked video game post ever.

Painful radio silence? Don't you people have a better thing to do? Like, playing games? Announcement will eventually come. Just chill.
