As someone who hates that Smash has like always a dozen threads active at the same time and wish they would get all sent to the OT, I get why you would close a few of the several Pokémon threads talking about the same stuff.

I have to say, I'm really glad these games leaked. Could you imagine going into the game blind and not knowing about the GTS cut, single use TRs, poorly paced story, awful level balance, and lack of accessibility to basic options on the menu without talking to an NPC? Thank goodness for leakers and dataminers, lol
The translation is correct as far as we know. Either way, every major site ran with it and a subset of the fanbase insisted that the models were brand new for 5 months, when it clearly wasn't the case. No one took issue with reusing the models in itself (that's why the 3DS models were future proofed, after all) , just in the context of using it to justify the cuts.
I don't know what to say here. I stepped away from this last night and I feel like the thread has gone in a direction I don't know how to keep up with. It's latched on in one direction and I don't feel like it'd do much to continue presenting the point of view I tried to talk about earlier.

Based on what I've seen, a lot of the backlash on Era seems like par for the course for video game controversies but has been perceived more harshly. Then again, I don't like aggression of any kind.
I read a rumour on reddit that they had problems with their importer. Maybe it was a lot of work to import each model which lead him to a statement in that direction which was mistranslated. I can't believe they would just lie about something that is so easily debunked
Just take a break from these threads for the next days and enjoy the game in Friday. I mean at this point it's futile and both threads are stuck in a circle jerk over who's worse.
Oh, I getcha. Yeah. Bad faith posters and trolls, on both sides, have pretty much ruined any chance to have an honest discourse about these games. All we can do is try to communicate our points reasonably and hope the other side doesn't assume the worst. I've tried to talk about these games in a more levelheaded manner in the past day or so. I suggest everyone does the same.

It wouldn't have necessarily tipped my overall view of them it into the positive, but it would have significantly improved it. I'm just one person out of millions though.
Also not knowing what was cut from the dex is a big no.
I'm probably going to enjoy the game too, and I assure you plenty of people in this thread will be in the OT in a few days talking about their fun experiences in the games and joining raids with everyone too!
Yeah its extremely short, even for Pokemon standards, no way about it. The Wild area outside of the two instances you have to go through it for Motostoke and Hammerlocke feels like something you would leave for the post league as extensive use in the main stoty would leave you grossly overleveled. This is the worst thing for me, the games obviously suffered in terms of route design, overworld intricacy, polish, and more for this large open area that really adds no value whatsoever to the main game. And its their main selling point no less, absolutely embarrassing.
I dunno if its last minute, but the wild area for me feels wrong. It would obviously take more work then they can feasibly manage to make these games, but the Wild Area should have been more then being the equivalent of 15 or so routes stiched together, stuff like the weather generation shows how unprepared they were for it.
Massive QoL improvements and a lot of the open ended nature of Hoenn's middle was cut down for a more guided experience.
Not all of em are unforgettable. Viridian, Cherrygrove, Sandgem, Accumula, and HauOli City are all solid with their purposes. Oldale and Aquacorde can fall off a cliff for all I care however.
That final trial in USUM js legit though. Going around and getting a seal of approval from the other captains and then fighting that beast of a Ribombee, that was a rush alright.
Gen 7 is another America Region, I found it oddly fitting that they share E4 music.
Kinda works as a jerk, but he gets better. In an honestly awesome way. Easily the best games for a sense of character progression for non protag characters, its such a damn shame that this is lumped with thie region and overall story.
I was looking at some more footage, and the games fucking suck at selling the G-Max Forms as something totally cool or worth it. I'm seeing Leon's G-Charizard left and right being one shotted by Pokemon 10 levels under, with or without D-Max. Absolutely pitiful.
I've definitively seen an overworld Impidimp encounter on a stream, even their evolution as well.
Maybe the series has reached its end for me being a pretty damn hardcore Pokemon fan when I was young till my late teens then falling off however having still played every Pokemon in the series but im not super impressed with what I have played so far, thread probably coloured my feelings small nitpicks get to you and as a casual Pokemon fan none of these will effect you and I know a ton of people super excited for Sword/Shield but man you keep playing and you just wonder where the budget went for this game.

I know they have never been a part of the previous games but would it kill them to give characters some voice overs without it every conversation is a bloody bore characters just feel more detached, horrible pop in and some fairly average textures along with the obvious some animations being used, don't know if I will bother with the next Pokemon unless the direction takes a dramatic change its just more of the same without any parts that really stick out to me, im damn disappointed in how excited I was for this game.

I think many here are already used to it and aren't as angry anymore. I mean, I disagree with so much stuff they did with these games, but honestly I'm not even able to feel too strongly about it at the moment, the NatDex cut was the biggest thing that could annoy me and that already happened months ago.
But of course, this isn't everyone and it seems many others got to their boiling point only recently.

Same. The fact that they tried to hide the removal of the GTS really pissed me off though. There's absolutely no excuse for that BS.
I'm going to enjoy it too, doesn't mean I can't vocalise my disappointment in certain areas and wish for improvement.
People actually have given attention to improvements! People really did compliment Cinderace and Intelleon's signature moves, the Dynamax effects, etc! The online improvements aside from the things they didn't improve, the trainer's expressions! It's just things like Double Kick do really stink to see, especially when it's a move you're going to use that long on it, and that along with the indoor battle backgrounds do really take away from the experience for some.
You know I'm really interested in playing a Pokémon game since RS, but this doesn't looks all that enticing.
When I saw Scorbunny way back when using double kick, I figured surely that was a placeholder and that they'd for sure have given it a proper animation by launch.

It is. It's basically being lead by toxic VP trolls, who want to cause as much harm to the game as possible for shits and giggles.
Double kick animations? Who cares, lol. Any adult playing these games will turn off battle animations after the 3rd badge and any child playing these games will be hyped enough by other aspects like raid battles to not even think about it.
It's, all non issues, and mountains outta mole hills. Its a turn based RPG and a lot of them use simple animations and the players imagination.
It's because of the "animations" quote to justify the cuts. If we had all Pokémon no one would be nitpicking animations for moves. I also think it's normal that a game with hundreds of moves and hundreds of monsters won't be able to animate every single one in an individual way to every single monster, but the problem is that it seems like we got cuts and no payoff for them in any way.

I'm probably one of the biggest critics of Game Freak's design philosophy and can pick anything out of most if not all of their games that I absolutely hate, but I preordered last night, lol. Only you can decide whether it's worth your money.

Is there berry farming in these games? I'm not under the impression that there is. It sounds like berries are in the Wild Area and can drop during raids, but the sheer ease of farming berries in seventh gen makes berry farming a disappointing potential cut.
