Its also the worst screenshot of this game going around, and it kind of looks like not all of the textures are loading, which might be because of emulation.
Thats how it looks on the Switch itself. Different time of day/weather i think tho.

Dont have a problem with it, overall it looks fine, and seems to run mostly fine.

please post some more pics that look as bad as that lake to back up your post then.

otherwise, admit that the one or two awful picd are being exacerbated by the same people that didn't take the past year to get enough of the graphic whining out of their systems.the game doesn't look great by any means but at this point what more is there to discuss? this current discussion is taking place because that pic is most definitely cherry-picked.

It's probably somewhere in this thread but off the top of my head:
>Move tutors have been streamlined
>You can change the moves of your Pokémon on the fly without any hassle from the menu
>There's an item that let's trade evos evolve such as Haunter and Machoke
>There's some degree of challenge to the Alpha fights and trainer fights
>3 Pokémon can jump you so you can end up with a 1v3 situation
>Shiny hunting is easier

I think that's the gist of it. I may have forgotten a few but hopefully this gives you a good idea of all the changes

I think you can also evolve pokemon on command once they reach the requirement? No more mashing B etc.

Is the gameplay where you throw balms and roll around optional? That aspect looks not fun to the max, but everything else looks really exciting.

These are nowhere near as bad, and at the very least do a pretty good job showing where the player can go further out.

The game doesn't look good on average, so the lows are actually low, but I think people figured that out already since last year.
That's what I was saying, I'm not hating on the game and I really enjoy the new systems and even the animations are the best so far in the series, I'm just trying to say that the game doesn't look as good as people are saying, it looks average at best, but the switch can do way better. Different opinions I guess, and I agree that lake shot is a bit cherry picked to be honest, I'm sorry if I sounded like I was hating.

Anyway I'm glad we just set the record straight in this thread about how this game doesn't look good. If you ask me this game as been getting a pass for its graphics for far too long!

Just got my preload done as well, I'm so hyped. I may actually try to go full shiny dex, especially since you can make a shiny the default display in your pokedex in this game

You know the game does look bad. But more importantly the new mechanics are fun. I don't have a problem looking past bad graphics if the game play is there.

That being said yall don't have to jump to the defense of GF here. The game can definitely stand to look better.

Now if the game gets snubbed at the game awards in the soundtrack category like Xenoblade 2 I'll be livid asf

Ok this is specualtive, but apparently if you go to the Horn area and sail through it at sunset with the pokemon from the tale in BDSP you trigger a Manaphy event. The pic is real but how to get to it is up for debate for now

I've talked before about how BotW sometimes looks like a very nice-looking painting, and sometimes looks like a big pile of muck.

Breath of the Wild for sure. Sometimes it's an absolutely lovely looking game.

And then it starts raining in a murky area with fog and you can barely see the game under all the ugly brown and grey.

I'm curious what PLA looks like when it's at its best.

- YouTube

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

They turned the opening piano section of Route 209 in the originals to its own leitmotif in the OST. You hear it in the track above and some other parts of the OST, like the one track that contains parts of Pastoria City.

Reminds me of Track 2 on the BW2 OST, where the sparkling synth kinda sound was actually played in the opening cutscene and the end credits.

Oh yeah, this is also the first game since BW and BW2 to have dynamic music.

EDIT: Like this. This just contains the opening of Route 209 for no reason and I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLz3JfJAy3E

EDIT 2: It's got smatterings of Route 209 all over the place. :)))

Hopefully Legends Zygarde and Legends Kyurem first. We just had another Kanto remake not too long ago.

My dream would be three games:
Gen 9: New region, new mons, built on new PLA systems
Legends 2: another story from the past with Zygarde, Kyurem, or some region we haven't revisited yet.
Let's Go 2: I want a Let's go sequel. Gimme Let's Go Marrill/Pichu or something.

Lol yeah but they still need to milk gen 1 as much as possible while us gen 1 era kids are in the sweet spot of having high purchasing power and interest in the games. We are still in peak pandering demographic zone right now. I guess they can do that with Let's Go 2 but Legends seems more targeted at the older crowd so seems like an easy way to squeeze more out of it

I really hope y'all are right about the music, not spoiling myself there but I considered SwSh's to be pretty disappointing so they have a lot of ground to cover for me there

This is really cool. You basically have an unknown logbook with hints in Unonwn language you need to decipher that tell you a hint to where the static encounter for that letter is. The hints aren't full on telling you where it is too so you need to figure it out

To me it will always be a matter of taste. I like the artstyle direction Legends Arceus went for, that kind of high contrast style to make it look like those old paintings, including the odd shape of the trees, and the thin strands of grass that don't cover the entire area. My main complaint is the base of the grass having that leaf-y pattern/texture instead of being solid shades of green.

I still believe the Pokémon franchise would be better off if they aimed for a cartoon-ish, fantasy style, with solid color surfaces, rather than wanting to do a more realistic approach, and failing in the attempt. Mainly because the Pokémon creatures and the human characters look better with that cartoon/anime style than having realistic features, like Pokken or Super Smash do, like making Lucario hairy, etc. So even if they went for this magnificent graphics people want, the clash between that and the Pokémon creatures would be just ugly.

In general, not just Pokémon, but even looking at screenshots of BotW, etc, I don't remember a game where surfaces like rocks or mountains look good, as in a realistic kind of way. So I always feel like a more cartoony style, like that of the new Spyro or Crash Bandicoot games, would fit most of the Nintendo franchises, including Pokémon.

Better than running like crazy until you catch them all. I spent exactly an hour at the Solaceon Ruins to get them all in BDSP, just running in circles in those tiny spaces, without counting all the times I exited the room by accident and had to enter again.

No one is saying otherwise in terms of it could be better. But we've had people saying all they want is PS2 level stuff and this is unbearable to them + N64 games look better.

Pretty huge chasm between, yeh its not great and could be better (normal person) and "ocarina of time looks better than this eye watering trash" (ridiculous hyperbole gutter trash trolling)

So then we need BDSP to get Darkrai and Manaphy? Good god.

Edit: Read that wrong. Whoops.

Streamer I am watching is doing the genies now, seems like catching them is a beefed up version of the Galarian Birds in SWSH DLC

Only one i found annoying was Articuno only because i'd get blinded in the snow but then once i found you can warp to a certain area and it would spawn there it was pretty easy.
For me the issue was that my Pokemon were leveled so high by that point it was hard not to kill them before I could catch them.

Nothing quite that defined unfortunately. As far as the abra and gastly lines go, it's a much more loose connection. As you probably know, Kadabra is frequently described as a person who became a pokemon, so the main theory is that during trading the human side of kadabra instead transferred into Gengar, as Gengar is the only one of the gastly lines who has lines depicting it as once being a human, and Alakazam's insane intellect came from it no longer being restricted by it's human side.

Interesting! I love this. I wish they'd do more evolutions like in gen 5 with karrablast and co.

A very informative post by Hematite on Smogon that digs into the move data (categories, descriptions, flags) to clear up some confusion about how the new moves work, and makes inferences on how these moves are intended to be translated into future entries based on said data: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pokemon-legends-arceus-leak-thread.3696414/page-39

Basculegion getting a Water-type Sucker Punch is a really fun idea, so I hope that's on the money.

yeah it works similarly they run away and pelt you with tornadoes when you start getting close

He caught 2 of them but is having trouble finding Tornadus.

Now he's just wandering around doing post game sidequests for the past few hours, it looks super fun/comfy and there are some post game stories with some characters too

Looks like it'll take a while to get to Arceus given how involved getting some of the rarer Pokemon and Legendaries seems to be

Honestly, post-game here seems really in-depth and significant, I love it.

Id love a stream link too if anyone has one.

Is there any footage of the Darkrai or Shaman battles? Heard the Darkrai one in particular looked difficult and really cool.

Also, it seems like no one has actually gotten up to Arceus yet. Really curious to see the Arceus battle when someone gets there.

Game seems fantastic. Sure, it looks rough. (Some angles and lighting setups are pretty nice, though.) But other than that, I'm stoked.
