No. Because there will still be hundreds of pokemon that can go into Sword and Shield. And likely other games that will be coming out supporting more.
Yes the rational thing to do is call them out on this and not support them.Yeah...you ASSUMED something would be done. In the same way that you ASSUMED orange and yellow arrows means "everything".
It sucks. This sucks. But we can still be rational adults about the situation.
Are we able to pick and choose what pokemon go to home from bank? Then only move the pokemon you can put in Sword and Shield into Home if you want to keep using them on a 3DS?
They would have eventually had to tell people after pitching peole bullshit two weeks ago. Stop defending them. They don't deserve it.I can't get on board with the idea of that being deliberate and then having Masuda a couple of weeks later go out of his way to tell people. It isn't a deliberate lie, stop fucking continuing this dumb sidebar when there's actually a really bad deliberate decision to discuss.
if I'm intentionally not putting Pokemon into the service that's supposed to be where they want me to keep all my Pokemon because they'll be trapped there until a game possibly comes out that supports them, what does that say about the service they're providingNo. Because there will still be hundreds of pokemon that can go into Sword and Shield. And likely other games that will be coming out supporting more.
No, that's what you don't seem to fucking get. If it was a deliberate lie, they could have easily have just kept it up until Home came out. I don't get how you don't fucking get this. They would have eventually had to tell people after pitching peole bullshit two weeks ago

A rational adult wouldn't assume the arrows mean "only some things are transferable back and forth". Like look at what you're arguing.Yeah...you ASSUMED something would be done. In the same way that you ASSUMED orange and yellow arrows means "everything".

I agree. Developers aren't your friends. You don't own them anything. As long as you stay civil complaining is the only thing that will make a changeYes the rational thing to do is call them out on this and not support them.
Haha I really hope Galar doesn't introduce a generic fish or butterfly Pokémon, there will be rage.

That's where I stand, I am normally day one for pokemon games but now I probably will not get sword and shield, It's a shame.I agree. Developers aren't your friends. You don't own them anything. As long as you stay civil complaining is the only thing that will make a change
They wouldn't have been able to do this after announcing it and getting stuck at E3 with questions about this constantly. No, that's what you don't seem to fucking get. If it was a deliberate lie, they could have easily have just kept it up until Home came out. I don't get how you don't fucking get this.

I can, the thing I don't understand is people are defending the decision. It's indefensible.
Of course, just buy sword and shield and pretend everything is okNo. Because there will still be hundreds of pokemon that can go into Sword and Shield. And likely other games that will be coming out supporting more.

Wow what a plan
Is this something they really wanted? I mean really? Most of the news surrounding the game now is this. There were two new Pokemon reveled on the show floor and I'm not even aware of any reactions towards them. Granted Yamper was already kind of leaked but we got to see what it looks like, and we also got an imp Pokemon Impidimp, a first and a more western lored creature which I'm more interested in seeing inspire new designs. will definitely be using it. I didn't even know about them until later on because mostly everyone was building up rage from the Pokemon Home News. This is hugely negative PR and its completely consuming the media coverage about the game, how did no one out of the three holders of the company see this coming a mile away?
Rational adults are allowed to be upset when theyre misled. Like the entire fanbase was.A rational adult wouldn't assume something and then get upset about it period.
I don't preorder games. I wait to get all the information I want and then buy them after.
I was told I didn't have to buy let's go either.
So is that it now? I'm just done with Pokemon games because they not "for me" anymore because the main appeal of thee franchise doesn't exist.
Fucking wonderful.
yes, I'm aware of that. the issue isn't that the service doesn't do a good job of transferring Pokemon - it's that the games I would want to transfer my Pokemon to won't be able to take them, and if I make a mistake when cross-checking the compatibility spreadsheet when I'm moving a Pokemon I lose access to it for potentially years. this wasn't an issue with Bank, because Gen VI and Gen VII were 99.9% backwards-compatible and I could safely drop all my Pokemon into a new game without having to worry about them being stuck thereThere are programming things that are done to the pokemon when you transfer them that allows them to then be transferred into other stuff. There had to be some new app to facilitate any sort of transferring.
Exactly. There's no such thing as 'just leave them in the 3DS'. Bank will die sooner or later.Just to reiterate for those joining the conversation: the big concern at the moment is that, after a year or two, Pokemon Bank will likely be sunsetted in favor of Pokemon Home. With Bank, you can move your Pokemon into Ultra Sun/Moon (which support every single Pokemon) if you aren't able to pay. If you leave them in an expired Bank account, they are deleted forever after a grace period. This is likely to be the case with Home. So... if you are forced to move your Pokemon into Home because the only alternative is locking them to the 3DS for an eternity, but then cannot place them safely in your Sword/Shield file... they are effectively holding your Pokemon hostage. And, even if people skip Sword and Shield over this controversy, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company are CERTAIN that people will pay this price because the core of the franchise is and always had been building strong emotional bonds with your Pokemon.

I'm specifically talking about the one poster who posted a twitter thread of a bunch of people defending, I wasn't talking about anyone here at the moment.I don't think anyone is defending it. I haven't seen anyone, at least.
Expressing an understanding for why the decision may have been made is different than saying it was a good decision.
Now I have to assume you're trolling.Well that means the app isn't as good as you wanted it to be. It doesn't mean it's useless.
if the optimal use for the app that is advertised as "a home for all your Pokemon" is to not put some Pokemon in it, is it really a home for all my PokemonWell that means the app isn't as good as you wanted it to be. It doesn't mean it's useless.
If it locks you out of using things that you transferred in hopes of transferring them to the most recent game, then yes. It's very useless, and you're paying money for that service.Well that means the app isn't as good as you wanted it to be. It doesn't mean it's useless.
Not useless just worse than the app that is supposed to replace.Well that means the app isn't as good as you wanted it to be. It doesn't mean it's useless.

I dont understand the connection
Lets GO was clearly telegraphed to be what it was. A remake and small scale on ramp for now players as well as a place to test their new ideas
Hell Gen 8 was announced in the same breath
What is the point of scapegoating outside of needing something to blame for this outcome
The blame can easily be placed on more sensible factors that have been echoed in this thread since it started
I'm gonna repeat this again. This:
How is it our fault for assuming that this would be the same case for Sword and Shield when Game Freak themselves announced Home as the same core ideas as Bank but with more features?
They came out after LGPE and specifically said the next game would be for "core fans" and would be a traditional title.I dont understand the connection

I think it absolutely is, They thought it would be okay with handling it that way. They were intentionally misleading people with the home app announcement.Again, no one was saying it was anyone's fault. The discussion was about whether or not Nintendo was intentionally trying to deceive people for 6 days.
Which obviously isn't the case.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not blaming Gen 1 fans here even if they did defended that BS
I'm saying Gamefreak probably thought the acceptance vs pushback would be similar.
Boy were they wrong.
They came out after LGPE and specifically said the next game would be for "core fans" and would be a traditional title.
They wasted time and manpower on LGPE instead of using it for Sword and Shield so this exact situation didn't happen.
