I hope the new games feature split evolutions for older gen Pokemon again, among a good chunk of new ones, of course. Z-Moves and mega evolutions can stay in the last gen games for what it's worth.

Am I the only one who wants normal evolutions to return? Everyone is all about regional variants, baby forms, cute things. But I want some cool things! Feels like liking cool stuff is a dying breed. I prefer evolutions over the base forms mostly.

It just feels like such a perfect natural extension of the "Pokemon as beloved pets" concept and I'm gonna be really heartbroken if it's gone from the newest games.

Game Freak just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Pokemon (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Yo-Kai Watch where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Pokemon, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Pokemon Gen VIII, nor will they purchase any of Game Freak's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Game Freak has alienated an entire market with this move.
Game Freak, publicly apologize and cancel Pokemon Gen VIII or you can kiss your business goodbye.
