So I just started this series after finishing sun and moon, and so far it's in the competition of worst main series anime along with black and white.

This seems like blatant corporate attempt to pander to the pokemon go crowd. Full of fillers, goh is an uninteresting screen hog and his goal is stupid. The go style instant catching sucks. And he boxes them anyway. Ash and his world league gets almost no screen time. Game characters like Marnie, hop and even the entire galar region gets shafted for some OCs.

After how good XY and sun and moon was, it's sad to see anime went full corporate pandering.

I hope game freak rushes out another generation so that we can move on to something better.

Twilight wings remains the best gen viii anime.

Goh is awesome. Best non-Serena sidekick that Ash has had since at least Dawn. And his goal would be a 3/10 if he didn't intend to include Mew in the plan; but as the dub narrator (or "Poke-stalker," as he's more commonly known) loves to emphasize, it's a 12/10 dream as soon as we toss in the little runt.

Calling goh better than cilan made me throw up in my mouth

What is there to like about goh? He doesn't have game background, doesn't take part in fight or battle, pokemon including legendaries fall to his first pokeball throw, somehow has a more wet tissue personality than ash, and is a total screen hog. Whenever it's focuses on him, the plot comes to a halt.
He comes off as a blatant pandering to the pokemon go crowd, who doesn't watches the anime anyway. We could've Marnie, hop or bede in the anime, but no, the marketing OC has to take the priority.

It's this. We disagree on this for both characters. I enjoy Goh's personality and Ash's. They're fun.

I wanted more Chloe stuff earlier on in Journeys and now I'm getting that. So that's cool too.
Chloe is great, the first main character with more texture than shonen archetypes, but goh is a wet noodle. Also characters may not have deepest characterisation but can still be fun, like the sun and moon gang. However goh is another ash like dude with magnitude of boring goal.

Sun and Moon started off catchy for me (which is more than I can say for my friend who watches the shows with me, ha) but by the end of the pre-league stuff it really felt like a bad fever dream.

Who was fun in Sun and Moon? Who? Lana was boring, Lillie had everything going for her to not be boring but still managed to disappoint other than that one good arc, Kiawe repeated his volcano shtick so often that any and all complaints against Cilan being one-dimensional are automatically invalid by contrast, Mallow was like the one non-Kukui character my friend liked but I'm not even sure I did, Kukui was probably the best? Bewear was the actual best, but Bewear was the only repeating gag that got more than an actual gag outta me.

Sophocles literally ruined the word Sophocles for me until the end of my days. Christ, literal worst major character the anime has ever seen. What a complete and utter doofus.

Rowlett, rotom, mimikyu, togademaru, snowwy, nebby, lana, Mallow, steenee, kukui, his wife, professor oak's cousin, lana and her family were all very fun and bounced off one another really well. We had different type of episodes like litten and it's mentor were pretty cool.

The only good episode from the entire journeys saga is the Pikachu backstory and Chloe and dawn episodes.

We're just on different planets about this, man. I fully respect your opinion but it's like we watch two totally different shows. I don't think there's gonna be an eye-to-eye moment here. lol

I'm still gonna bet we get a Pokemon Legends adaptation. Don't see them sticking with this format for too long since Gen 9 ain't close

I'd absolutely love to see that. But how would it work? Would they change the setting so that it's modern Sinnoh or something? Does Ash time travel? (lol) Or do they actually give us new cast? Which would be rad but it's hard to imagine.

I'd prefer a new cast, but they're definitely gonna keep ash. Celebi is the obvious reason to go with, but thanks to the arc phone thing in the game, there might be a setup where ash (and Goh, I guess) encounter the phone and arceus and get thrust back into time. just leaving it to Ash and Goh should be paramount though. no Chloe or anyone else

Tracy is cooler than Goh.

Catching Pokémon? Please, literal children can do that. But drawing Pokémon? That's talent.

Gen 4 has a pokemon that can control time, Ash and Goh will go back in time to Hisui and four episodes later come back. mark it.

Do we need goh? Why not dawn?

I'm only saying Goh because he's there at the moment. Dawn would work given Akari, but I think they would need a supporting female character of the time to guide them. They want to keep, a least, a 3 person team, so Goh might make the most sense.

Can someone explain the context of the episode to me?
Did her Pokemon die or go to the moon cause that's what Cleffa do?

Id rather have entirely CG than the awkward mix they tend to use. The mech in the newest movie looked so out of place.

edit: Wow so like, Scorbunny has all but been replaced as Gou's main at this point, right. Like he's basically been boxed for Grookey.

Raboot/Cinderace was replaced with Sobble for a while too, then Sobble evolved so Grookey replaced Sobble

They wanted something small that can ride on their backs like Pikachu I guess. Giving all 3 to Gou is just funny because its extra blatant that they're basically being shoved out of the spotlight in sequence.

Time to let Pikachu become the trainer, he looked great summoning Flygon and Dragonite.
