Watching cool Pokémon being caught by Goh is a bit sad at this point. Hopefully Falinks manages to be something more than a background filler (maybe it can reach Raichu status?), it was such a fun character- I have zero hope for Galarian Stunfisk. Eiscue was also very fun, legit thought the episode would end with it drifting over to Vermilion City and become a recurring mon until its caught by someone but no, it returned with the other penguin cubes.

The episode overall was fun, even if I think Pikachu wasn't at his best here. Both featured Pokémon had tons of comedic potential with their quirks and they worked pretty well, Cinderace and Raichu had great little moments and the "training montage" was nice.

Hearing "Daijoubu" hit me hard, hopefully the episodes are good!

Midgar, With Love
Wikipedia's saying new Netflix episode batch arrives in September.

Also, I'm 30 episodes into Journeys now and, whew, I like it a heck of a lot more than Sun/Moon. Pretty much everything I want from the show is here again.

Wonder if they'll give Cherrim to Koharu to tie into BDSP and because it fits her family naming theme

Not sure if verifiable but it seems the episode after that is called Super-Electromagnetic Hyper Class Battle...with the word "denji" being used. 😬

Hmm that would make sense we know Volkner is coming, but I doubt it's so soon after this two-parter. Edit: I see it's confirmed. We got a packed next couple of weeks

Also I like you're idea of Goh using Flygon for the race btw, or he could just strap up Golurk in Rocket mode and insta win lol

Ash needs to use Torterra against Volkner. He needs that W he lost out on.

Wonder who his ace will be? Luxray or Electivire are kind of played out, as is Raichu. Maybe they'll go with Jolteon so they can tie it into Koharu's Eevee plot.

Surprised the thread is so quiet (I'm only on the Iris episode so I'm behind) but I guess the first part of Dawn was kind of uneventful?

It's not a battle like with Iris or Infernape vs Moltres so it won't get as much buzz. Dawn's returns seem to just be this where she's more on the sidelines. More Chloe stuff though which is nice. Next week is the real goods hopefully.

What's interesting though is Dawn seems to be redoing the Sinnoh contest circuit right now and Chloe's eevee showed interest in contests. Maybe Dawn will come back closer to BDSP and they participate in a contest together

iris was just about the only thing I liked from BW. I ended up mostly just watching her episodes and skipping most everything else lol

What a great episode. Hikari and Koharu have very good chemistry and both of them got good screentime. Their clashing personalities and the way they are connecting so far, I could watch whole episodes with them. Pocchama being the little awesome blue bird he is too! Ugh, Koharu is such an interesting character, I loved the "first journey completely alone" montage with her trying to start a fire, cook food, getting lost, etc- it has been a long time since those kind of moments happened on the series. While I like Eevee, I'm a bit sad that Yamper has been completely erased from her storyline atm.

The cameo of Ayako was fantastic, if only they had Yuka doing the interview and not that random lady it would have been perfect. We also got some references/callbacks to older series with music (please use more old music), Koharu making the same mistake Hikari did at the beginning of their journeys (and their moms being the voice of reason) and Ash talking about a battle against Darkrai (either Alamos or Takuto). It's probably a longshot, but the pamphlet could also be a tiny reference to the Old Gateau and the Phione Festival of Akebi Town.

Team Rocket was also nice, the interactions between the Matori Matrix and the TRio are as good as always. Apparently Unova has Pokémon Contests now? I guess it makes as much sense as Johto having contests back on AG, so. Ash/Goh parts were boring but sadly needed in order for the plot to advance. It's almost a crime that the motto was parodied and Team Rocket was not there, so the parody back on the original series and DP keep being superior.

I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see more of Hikari- her Pokémon and rivals next episode. The contest is supposed to happen too, so there is probably aready a lot :/

Trip fucking SUCKED but the rest of the ensemble cast were pretty fun...well fuck Cameron, but like Langley, Cabernet, and Kenya, and that made the Club Battle episodes neat.

Team Rocket fucking sucked. I was gutted what they did to them. And then it seemed like they were going to bounce back to their old selves and it just never happened.

lmao at Team Sakuragi
Also I guess the matching pajamas means PK Centers provide provisional ones for travelers who don't pack theirs... 🤔 Still, Satoshi should know better by now.

I really like Koharu's episodes! Her parents suck, but I guess that's expected in the Pokémon world...
I enjoy how rigid and inexperienced she is still with regards to travelling, running away from a battle was fun, and I liked her interactions with Dawn too.

I guess next week we'll see Goh's page updated with Darkrai 😏
And please some fun moments with Goh and Dawn!

I think the only Darkrai that wasn't portrayed as a total boss was the one from DP104- the guy saw Cresselia, bumped heads with her and nope'd out of the way.

That whole episode was more about Dawn's Piloswine evolving lol than anything else.

Speaking of which are we really only gonna see Piplup?
I think it was more about the "mystery" surrounding everything with a dose of evolution. Like the episode was full "oh yeah, Darkrai is a pest that comes every year to Canalave and Cresselia appears to protect us but why is Darkrai early this time around". I vividly remember people being disappointed because they were expecting an amazing clash between both legendary Pokémon (tbf, it was titled "Cresselia vs Darkrai") and then therre was no battle haha

We'll be lucky if we see another pokémon, the contest can be a 2-second montage of the appeal round and nothing else. Specially silly since the Sinnoh Contests had a focus on coordinators using different Pokémon between the appeal and battle round, but I don't think the writers will remember that detail.

So hopefully Chloe gets on that coordinator thing before the Palkia/Dialga winter special

In the meantime I'll take my Bewear birth month gift and squeeze it tight

TV Tokyo says that although next week won't have an episode due to the olympics, plans can change and so if something happens re: Olympics that means Friday is fine, we'll get the episode early

Looks like the next episode might actually have the reveal to Goh that Ash is Alola's champion consider that's likely why the kids admire Ash. Also TR mon reunion bless

But are they really gonna have Ash meet up with the passimian band again lol or will this just be unrelated?

they... they didn't even do a High Touch. The High Touch. The one that had a whole song dedicated to it due to its importance. Even Best Wishes! got that right. The episode was going fantastic and then... Journeys is unable to make a completely amazing episode.

Oh well. The first half of the episode was perfect. All the flashbacks, references, continuity... the good times when writers were showing things and development on-screen. We even got a Togekiss cameo at least! Koharu and Hikari work so well together and how both of their stories are similar yet so different they can relate to each other. A great part of Hikari's story was the fact that she was the daughter of a Top Coordinator with how she felt pressured by herself to achieve greatness while Koharu's pressure mostly comes from outsiders. Pochama not wanting to evolve because he found a reason to stay that way while Eevee is still looking for that reason to either evolve or stay as it is. Ugh, so perfect. The mini-appeal was decent enough, the "keep trying things until you find something you like" is very good continuity (hope that means that another character who faced a similar problem comes back to help Koharu too).

But then... bleh. At least Pikachu and Pochama talked to each other unlike Pikachu and Haxorus. Team Rocket didn't acknowledge Hikari- they were mostly useless. The Matori Matrix attack was meh, but I do have to say that it was nice to see Koharu "battling". The whole Darkrai/Cresselia storyline was good enough but overall, the second half was bad.

Team Rocket reuniting with their Alolan family is enough for the next episode to already be good. Will they have lots of screentime? I couldn't care less about the race-thing, just give me 22 minutes of TR (bonus points if the minion rat is punched on the face by Kiteriguma).

I actually thought Ash and co vs the Matori Matrix had a sort of energy to it I wish we could see more scenes like that going forward. The scene wasn't even incredibly animated but it flowed well imo.

It was really damn good. I was just coming here to say that lol. It was very dynamic. Also they went hard with the animation at the end of the episode it was so smooth.
I enjoyed the episode. Plus it seems like we'll see her again during a winter episode. I wish like they did with Iris it played to more of Dawn's strength rather then this random darkrai stuff. Would've liked to see her do a contest. So here's to hoping the possible winter episode isn't just about the legendaries.

I do think Journeys really didn't have an idea for awhile what it wanted to be. The episodes felt disjointed. Whether that's just bad management or because of Covid idk. But Iv enjoyed the episodes as of late. They feel focused and I haven't been bored watching them.

So Ash is clearly commanding Pikachu there unless one of his other mons was out when he was just walking around the gym.

Edit: Oh fuck he's using his Z-ring to fight Volkner 👀

Ash is using Pikachu, Gengar, and Lucario while Volkner is using Rotom Fan, Electivire, and Luxray.

I sure am whelmed with an opponent that's not using any new powerhouses, no new forms, and might not even have a Z-Ring

Sabrina will probably be here in time for Halloween though (Math checks out to JN87)
