Let's be honest, I'm getting a P5 day one but a lot of the communication surrounding everything with the console could be a lot smoother.
Everyone that wants one will be able to get one.

No it didn't. It was lottery based. I signed up never got an invite to pre-order--didn't win the lottery.
It's nice to see them admit it but they must have known it would be a shitshow. Hollow words tbh.
Lets not start that shit here. Their messaging has been mostly confusing and often terrible. Stop trying to undermine that apology by dismissing concerns when Sony clearly felt the need to apologise

I'd argue it's actually easier for "ordinary" enthusiasts to get stuff during a launch like...that...than it is when everyone on the planet is fixated on the same 5 stores at the same exact date/time.
But...it still didn't go smoothly and the retailers and Sony deserve a ton of blame for a lack of communication and back-end support.

sure but the whole thing is overblown. truth is there will be a lot of PS5s available for launch. many more people will get to preorder by November.
They did a horrible job.
They just apologized for it. They know they messed up too.
I mean the pandemic had thrown a lot in flux. Miscommunication about stuff like cross gen, fair, but I don't think they meant to mess up preorders.
Walmart jumped the gun a day early and then other retailers just followed after the craze. It's not like they knew that would happen.
Sony handled it really poorly, but I imagine this is moreso on the retailers considering Microsoft literally had to threaten them not to break preorder embargoes.
