This is a GDC presentation.
This is a GDC presentation.
No. They said they said of the 100 most played games, the large majority worked.
No I had not seen this presentation. I just talk to a lot of people who know way more than I do.Had jschreier already seen this presentation? I guess this is what the Tflops aren't everything stuff comes from that Cerny is talking about.
I'm wouldn't have mentioned it at all given having the lower number and this gen being about tf
Yes, that's what I'm asking for. When's that?Y'all won't be saying anything once the console, price and games are revealed
A "technical deep dive" isn't marketed as a GDC presentation? They even said this is what was planned for GDC. People who expected otherwise deluded themselves and wanted to see what they wanted to see. Like did people want them to say "NO GAMES!!!!" In bold print?I understand this is a GDC presentation, but it wasn't marketed like one it. It was all over games media like it was a "reveal" event. This is a really weird presentation at this point considering how little they've shown and how much Microsoft has shown.
My BC PS3 had its GPU die.Honestly, I don't care about BC, and would actually be happy if Sony traded away BC in favor of more powah. Just learn to keep your old consoles, folks.
It bears repeating: The average person that is mildly into PC gaming or that has been into next-gen specs is bored because this isn't a deep dive for us but rather a surface-level skim. Using the argument "this is for game developers" doesn't make sense as they would be even more intimately familiar with what is being discussed. This is an ELI5 tech explanation. This is why some of us are kinda bored and wanting more.
This is the first impression people are getting of this thing and one of the main bullet points someone can easily discern is "PS4 backwards compatible...kinda"
If Xbox didn't have complete 360 back compatibility right away what made you think Sony would.
Cerny is more shook than I would have expected. XSX won't impact their business at all but here is trying to explain why higher clocks are "better" than more CUs. Not the first "in"direct comparison he has made

Oh yes I get it. I thought the way he phrased it was pretty funny.Yeah, i mean he actually explains why. He's basically calling everyone who is bothered about teraflops absolutely uneducated morons, in the nicest, calmest way possible of course.
he's correct while you have that theoretical power. how often you hit it makes a huge difference.Hmm. His explanation on higher clocks outstripping the theoretical TFLOP figure is interesting?
Agree, maybe I was being a bit too enthusiastic. It just seems that Sony has approached the system architecture differently compared to Microsoft. More focused on improving visible gaming experiences compared to more raw power available for development. Both have their pros and cons, I just feel more attracted to Sony's approach.I dont know about "MASSIVELY" . These are complex SOCs. Raw numbers definitely reflect advantages but how they actually turn out practically is what matters. Loading time of 5 seconds is better than loading time of 10 seconds but they are not going to be very noticeable but loading time of 2 minutes is definitely going to be more noticeable than a loading time of a minute.
What did I miss lolDamn going digital this gen on ps4 might not have been the best idea
at this point if they continue to talk about it more in theory and how it can perform rather than the way Series X has been shown, it certainly can impact their businessCerny is more shook than I would have expected.
