Aaah, I guess this is something that is asked every five minutes...

but...

What's the way ahead with respect to the shortages...is it even possible to buy a console? I am in Portugal now and I'm not from the area, so my confusion is doubled with regards to wtf I need to do in order to buy a console.

You have to follow stock alerts Twitter or any app like Hotstock or whatever is relevant to your region, have notifications on and your card and login set up on retailer sites ready to go then it's all a matter of luck if you can get in the few seconds something comes in and out of stock.

Just picked up a Pulse 3d Headset, wondering if I need to change any audio options in-game?

Or is the headset really just meant to be plug & play and don;t change anything?

Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get the PS5 to stop installing PS4 versions of the game when I have the disc inserted? I've upgraded Borderlands 3 to PS5 from PS4 discs and it still auto-installs the PS4 version. Same thing with FF7 remake now today; it doesn't fully install but that's only because it's the 'play disc' and not the 'data disc'. But it definitely starts a new PS4 install!

I don't have room for dual 80gb game installs. For the love of god how do I make this stop??? I've googled it at least 20 times and there's no help.

That February firmware update that was supposed to solve this problem did nothing to solve it.

At this point, I think that's just how the system works. I saw a pop-up today to download some sort of special armor pack for AC:Valhalla, and it started downloading the entire PS4 version of the game even though I have the PS5 version installed right there.

They really don't seem to have improved the battery life of the dualsense. Granted, it is doing more 'under the hood' than my Elite but the battery lasts less than half as long.

So with Ratchet my PS5 made a loud noise when taking in the disc. It did the loading disc noise for like maybe twice as long but then didn't spin the disc at all. It didn't start installing.

I took it out and tried it again and it finally did start installing.

anyone experience this? Sounds like my PS5 disc drive is dying

edit: wow now it won't finish installing from disc. It's giving me an error code and saying it needs hours to install 3Gb more. I think my system is broken

edit 2: wtf the disc had like almost no fingerprints on It. I wiped it off anyway and now it installed. Who knows lol

Is the Spotify app on this thing incapable of playing music from the Liked playlist? Do I have too many songs in my Liked music?? It's driving me up the wall. Trying to play a song from my Liked music basically causes the app to fall apart at the application and built-in OS level.

I wasn't bothered about getting either of the new consoles until mid-May. I buy from Amazon, so my strategy was to check when they would next get more stock and luckily I only had to wait a few days. The site I was reading said the Amazon page updates between 8am and 9am. Of course, I was unlucky the first time but I checked between 8 and 9 most mornings and it took about 2 weeks before I got a Series X.

Anyone remove the sides yet to vacuum out the dust port? Is it easy?
I give my consoles a full weekly clean so yes.

Is really simple just have the console flat lengthways in front of you pull up (on the edge with the ps logo) and away from yourself and they just slot off.

If you want to fully clean the fan you will need a security screw driver to open the housing.

Can someone help me out or guide me onto game sharing? The problem I have is, I own Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. On my PS5 as a Digital Game. Now my friend entered my account on his ps5 and hit offline and console sharing enable. But if I lose internet connection. It'll let me play offline games for a certain amount of time. And then ask me to connect to the internet again. I want my friend to be able to play my games. But I don't want to lose being able to play offline.

PSA Rest mode is still not safe to use. My PS5 had to repiar itself once more. I didn't unplug it.
Sad to see that the final version of the OS runs worse as the Xbox preview Builds.
Sorry to hear that. I still haven't had an issue despite always leaving it in rest mode since launch day, even though just the other night I mistakenly unplugged the external SSD while the PS5 was in rest mode. Plugged it back in, woke it up expecting a lengthy rebuild, and everything was fine.

The app on the ps4 had the same trouble. Once you reach like a 1000 songs it always seems to have difficulty playing the music for more than a second or two at a time. I actually had to make a new account just for the ps4 a few years ago. I haven't used the app as much on the ps5, so I'm not sure if it's better or worse. It seems to play my 750 liked song playlist fine so far.

had that happen to me before the last update, no problems for now. But yeah, it's better to turn it off just in case of any power outages. They happen not so often where I live.

Hi, I have a few questions for PlayStation specialists.
I used to share my account with my brother as well as my PS+ sub.
I had put my account on his PS4 and activated his console as my primary console and he did the same the other way round. And doing this we shared our games and could play online together.
But now this lucky bastard has a PS5 and I was wondering :
1. Is it possible to do the same between a PS4 and a PS5 ?
2. If so, do I need to define his Ps5 as primary or this is not mandatory (since it's 2 different Platforms)
3. If I put his Ps5 as primary can I put back ma PS4 to primary since he doesn't use his PS4 anymore ?
4. Will he have access to the PS+ collection ?
5. If so, do I risk to get in trouble ? I have read articles about account ban about this PS+ collection sharing.

Sorry, my questions are a bit specific. I hope that I'm not too much of an outlier...

Thanks in avance to whoever is willing to help me on this topic. 👍😉

For him to use your games he will have to have your account as primary on his ps5. However he can also be primary on both his ps5 & your ps4.

I think you will be fine as he's clearly been logged into your system as primary anyway for a good while so it will be seen as his system

So Ratchet and Clank has the current update installed, but it keeps trying and failing to install it again with the error code "CE-107857-8"

My PS5 is up to date, I tried deleting the cache, rebuilding the database, and reinstalling the game. But I keep getting the error.

Apart from the annoying notification whenever I load up the game, it doesn't effect anything, and the game appears to be up to date. I just worry that something else is fucked up and would just like to know if anyone has had a similar experience and a potential fix.

Good to know! Mine is about 11,000 so I'm sure it struggles with that.

Same here. I thought they fixed it by now, but guess not... I'm suspecting this might actually be a hardware issue.
I've had this suspicion since launch for people having rest issues.

I know for sure if I bought a product and features were there but didn't work I'd be returning that next day. Especially with the vast majority need t having an issue with it

Does anyone know if you can actually use all the storage space internally on a ps5?

I know on ps4 you could get down to like 100gb free and sometimes it wouldn't even let you install a small game saying you needed to free up more space. Does it still work like this on ps5 or does it now let you use much closer to what it says is free?

When you all say PS5's rest mode is borked, do you mean it's unsafe to put the console into rest mode in the middle of a game, or that it's unsafe to use rest mode period, that it crashes the console entirely or something?

No, it is working as intended for 99% of the people, these are just edge cases being pretty vocal and trying to represent it as far more widespread than it really is. They should consult Sony support if there really is a problem.

There's a few things that contribute to this and it starts from when the console was released:

Problems with games: Miles Morales was crashing at launch, it was fixed in a patch. Returnal also has crashing issues which are still being patched (as per the notes for the upcoming patch). Some of these manifest during normal operation as well as when using rest mode.

USB Storage: The PS5 appears to be very particular as to what USB storage you can use with it. Certain chipsets were basically unusable in rest mode, and there's been several stability patches released improving external storage. This may still be an issue, I've not kept a close eye on it.

Console issues: Some folks continue to have issues with multiple games and don't use external storage. It's not clear if these are faults with their console or they're an edge case and there are still issues with the OS that most of us aren't seeing.

In pretty much all scenarios the worst case was your console restarted in safe mode and had to repair its database. I think there was one case of a console bricking but it was so long ago and my hazy recollection is that it was an isolated case.

I don't have any personal anecdote to add because I stopped using Rest mode as soon as the USB storage issue was identified. There's been a couple times I've had to keep playing to get to an appropriate place to stop playing but I've mostly had a really good time powering the console down fully as it powers up from cold in less than 30 seconds.

I've been saying since launch, if your PS5 can't use rest mode, you probably need to just trade it in.

Sucks, but yeah.

I've had that suspicion since I learned about the problem as well, but since the console is so hard to come by, and I don't have any other issues (loud fans, bad disc drive), I really hoped they would be able to fix it by updating the firmware. I read some people had Sony swap their console for another one, but then it arrived with other issues.

In my country we have a 2 year warranty, so I can wait a little longer. At some point I might have to bite...

The problem with the rest mode problem is that we don't even know what it is, or what causes it. I avoided using rest mode for a while due to the problems people were having, and only just started using it recently. While I haven't had any problems yet, I still want to put an emphasis on the "yet". One little hiccup and I'll never touch it again until Sony directly addresses it (they haven't even acknowledged there's a problem yet).

I finally landed a PS5 last week and have been enjoying it immensely! Can't notice any noise coming from it and have even installed games off disc and the disc drive is quiet for me. I consider myself lucky since I was worried about these issues.

I haven't been active on PSN since the PS3 days so my old friends list is kinda dwindled. I don't play multiplayer games or chat with people but like to see people online to see what they are playing. I would appreciate it if someone people from here could add me on PSN, same username as my name here. Thanks!

Has Sony ever officially commented on the Other storage issues?

My shit has exploded since the last time I looked at it, I went and cleared off most of my games last night and it barely put a dent in it. The only way I've found to "fix" the problem is to factory reset your PS5... and yeah, I'm not doing that.

Yeah it's super frustrating. Rest mode works sometimes, but the vast majority of the time the console has to repair itself. Don't want to send it in for repair either as everything else works fine so idk

Same for me. Compared to instant on on the Xbox Series (S) it isn't good. You can unplug the console and it doesn't glow.
Last time was just a quick repair and nothing long.

I don't think i have ever had a rest mode issue, if it's happening that much then it has to be that the machine needs returning.
I might put up with it a couple of times but not much more than that.

This. Or it could be a bad enclosure/drive. I know some enclosures don't do well compared to others.
