My character at the end of the beta:

Needless to say, can't wait until the next beta. Don't really want to play anything else now lol

Edit: Also, some pictures of the ERA Alliance HQ:

omg, I had no idea that you could have a Pioneer 2 theme.
Also didn't know there was an era alliance.

I wish this beta wasn't Xbone-only, it'd be great to play this on PC again with a proper localization this time. I sunk way too many hours into this game back in the day. Guess I'll have to wait for the full release or an open PC beta if there ends up being one.

I did every urgent quest and got all the bonus drops in storage. Never boosted. I will wait for open beta and full release before I use anything up or pay serious attention.

As soon as I hit lvl 25 I stripped naked and danced by the gate until the servers shut off.

Is the Beta using some form of extra experience and extra money to help players in the beta level up way faster than what seems normal? I was only level 14 and had money coming out of my nose. It just seemed WAY too fast to level up and the amount of money is just way too much so early on.

Nothing to spend it on lol. I say that as someone who played PSOJP a many years, those player shops can drain you.

Same lol, I got my main class to 41, sub class to 20-something (Hu/Fi). I focused almost entirely on completing as many client orders as possible, since they seem to give way more exp than simply running quests.

Seems like Hunter isn't super popular to run as a main class, but mainly as a subclass? I'm in love with the Partizan, will I be able to keep up as a Hunter main later in the game?

I wish I had remembered to grab client orders, I kind of forgot they were a thing until the last day. Still made it to 32 though which is a decent head start at least.

I have not sat down and played a game for 4 hours straight in the longest time.

PSO2 really perfected the constant drip-stream of better gear. For players like myself who are bean-counters when it comes to stats, it forces players to exit their comfort zone and try multiple weapons and skills. The gameplay loop is very solid and is easy to spent time completing tasks or just chillin' with other players. The formula sounds like it wouldn't be too far off from the original Phantasy Star Online but just works in getting you right into the action.

My only complaint is that since the NA servers are joining a game that is deep in its life-cycle, it can be hard to piece together all of the information the game is constantly bombarding you with.

Overall, I'm really excited for the Open Beta and raring to get back in. I was lucky enough to have completed all of the Urgent Quests and hit level 30 in my time with it. Stupid things like that DreamCast Mag will keep me clamoring for more.

I'm sure Sega was blown away when the servers crashed at launch too. I don't believe they were expecting so many people to be interested. Everything is looking great for PSO2! Hopefully the game can continue it's lifecycle for a long time to come.

I love how everyone here took on all these quests, got up to half the level cap, finished hundreds of client orders and beat quests and meanwhile I spent my playtime playing lobby Soccer, grinding the Casino to get the Green Lilipan suit (please have the game be playable on St. Patty's day), danced at the concert, won 1500 at Roulette, played tons of BlackNyack, got a mat with the animals on it that makes noises when you step on it, watched the Sonic trailer and only got up to level 7.

More importantly though, I love you can do all this shit. It's like someone took Second Life and added a pretty decent ARPG to it based on a series of RPGs I liked as a kid. Fun weekend.

Speaking of music, does anyone happen to know what song was playing in the alliance hq yesterday? I went scouring youtube, but couldn't find it.

Apologies if this has already been brought up before, but characters are tied to ships? What if I want to join a friend that's on a different server/ship? I can't do that unless I make a new character or do a transfer when the game releases?

Do you happen to rememeber the name of the song the hq was set to yesterday?

I'm pretty sure it was a remixed version of the PSO2 NA reveal trailer music. The other ones I had were the ARKS theme, original PSO2 title screen music, and a remix of the PSO2 title screen music.

Edit: the song from this trailer

For people wondering if the game gets harder because it's too easy right now

I can confirm that on Very Hard it finally starts to become a game. Enemies are kinda aggressive (they'll seek you out instead of just kinda wandering around, and they'll attack more often) and do more damage, double for bosses. Early quests will always be easy because they were designed when we as characters couldn't do as much, so their slow and limited attacks patterns will always be pretty easy to deal with.

I didn't have a chance to go back in yesterday which was a bummer. I wanted to check out the snazzy purple cape.

All the classes are viable late game, as long as you're not using some kind of bizarre un-synergistic subclass combo.

I main partizan on my hunter in PSO2 JP, it works perfectly fine. Once you unlock some of the later photon arts your damage output skyrockets and you become an absolutely terrifying boss-killer (though obviously not on the level of gunner, which is specifically designed to kill bosses). I have no regrets.

The only people who should be worried about optimizing are the min-maxers trying to speedrun everything and squeeze out every spare second they can on boss clears. Otherwise, just do what you like and try to improve in little ways over time.

Am I right in thinking you can transfer between ships for a cost in the JP version?
Yeah, you can schedule a transfer for a cost and your character will be moved after the next maintenance, you can keep different characters on different ships. I've never bothered with it so I don't know prices and the exact details.

I managed to hit 26 during the test. All Ranger, did not do multi class etc. Feels good. Feels like PSO. I think longtime fans will enjoy it think new players might be a little overwhelmed by the layers of stuff in the game.

Just a heads up, subclass levels with the main class so the sooner you assign the subclass the better

Are there any downsides to picking a subclass that doesn't synergize with your main class? It doesn't permanently influence the stats of your main class or anything crazy each time you level does it?

People on PSO World are saying there was some stuff scrubbed from this game. A lot of junk stuff in the shops, as many "Old Type" Weapons as possible, etc. Didn't notice this, but I guess it's cool they cleaned some stuff up for this version.

Nope, nothing's permanent so you can pick whatever you want

If Microsoft puts an XCloud app on the switch, would be very handy to have in the house for this game.
Indeed it would.

Oh nice, had no idea this was already working, I'll have to give it a shot sometime. Hopefully it works better for me than remote play did.
It works great, it has Xbox controller support where remote play only has the touchscreen unless on an Sony phone. Games that require the shoulder buttons and twin sticks are difficult with the touchscreen lol it worked great for grinding in kingdom hearts though where I only had to mash X really.

I've used it a few times at work and defintely had a better experience than I did with remote play.
Remote play has worked fine for me even on less then ideal wifi but only having touch screen controls for none Sony phones means only a few games are really playable.

I only played on Saturday, did the events and watched the concert. Hit L25 in a day of playing. Not too shabby. They just gush so many quests and tasks on you that it was pretty easy to always have something to do.

It's impressive how quick you hit where the paywalls are going to be. Bloody inventory space is the worst offender (I'm not a fan of inventories that count equipped items towards your carry total), and the UI to move stuff isn't elegant at all, especially when dealing with stacked items.

But I had a great time running around as a robot and blasting things at range. The auto-targeting makes using ranged weapons very easy. Although no option to auto-switch targets on target death when locked on is near criminal in a game like this.
