Yup, that's what happens. They're called "goldfish bowls" for a reason. If they are kept in larger tanks, they grow to fit that environment.

I know you mean the alligators fishs, but it reads like the goldfish too eats whole ducks 😂😎

The goldfish too were eating ducklings whole. Not fully grown ducks.

So I meant both of them. We had videos being shared on messaging apps. There was one of a goldfish swallowing a duckling, the duck mom going after it and then a different goldfish eating a second duckling.

The same happens with terrapins here in the UK. People release them into ponds because they don't realize how big they get/how much they smell and they can devastate the local ecology.

Wait how the hell does it 'know' to grow more in a larger environment? Does it just eat more?
It's not like they think "Huh, seems like I have more room to grow!" and power up. Goldfish are supposed to be big fish. If they're in a small bowl they have less room to move, so they can physically only get so big. Those restrictions are removed and their body continues to grow.

Fish legit eat ducks. A popular fishing lure is a duckling for getting medium/large fish, like pike, musky, large carp or bass.

This guy is catching Northern Pike which are pretty serious fish and will eat fucking anything, but any topwater feeding fish will hit a duckling lure from time to time... certain carp, bass, musky

From 'quake area to big OH.
I worked in a pet store and refused to sell goldfish on countless times, "but it's just a fish" always pissed me off. Just because they may survive in a bowl doesn't mean it's healthy.

Goldfish can live 20+ years and grow up to two feet. They are extreme eater and pollute water like no other, very high ammonia output that is toxic.

Yep. Goldfish get HUGE.

People don't care for them as pets correctly. Kinda messed up.

One thing that dating an aquatics specialist has taught me is that almost nobody seems to know how to properly care for goldfish. They can live forever and get fucking enormous!

Like she'd have customers arguing with her about it when she'd describe the necessary tank setup, "it's just a distraction for my kid it's only going to live a few weeks I don't need all this stuff" which, first off, disgusting to talk about a living creature like that, and secondly, yeah they only live a few weeks when you drop them in a bowl and slowly torture them to death jfc
