Maybe the wrong place for this, but what kind game is this? I love persona but honestly never paid attention to these cuz I thought they were just fighting games. But after watching a trailer that's not correct. What's the game structure here?

It's not really similar to Age of Calamity at all. While the combat controls similarly, it has a linear story with a calendar and dungeons like Persona 5. You sneak up on enemies like you do in that game and when you initiate combat then you have a short musou-like battle with a crowd of enemies smaller than you'd normally fight in a musou. It's basically a Persona game with action combat rather than a musou with a Persona skin. It's a musuo, so like the same as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity that came out recently.

Thanks all! Sounds like I'd like this. I'm in.It's an action RPG sequel to Persona 5 with musou-like fights and with a presentation which is nearly identical to the original.
If you have a japanese account, try out the free demo on PSN and eshop.

Those are both true, it doesn't really lean on the social sim aspects. I just meant the presentation was very similar, like another poster mentioned. The game is full of Persona's typical long-winded cutscenes that people either love or hate, so whether you enjoy the game or not probably depends more on your attitude towards Persona than your attitude towards musous.I don't think the calendar means as much as it does in Persona, and someone would have to correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there are true social links either.
Yeah, but you still get to explore ctities between action phases, there is a ton of dialogue and dungeons are closer to those from Persona 5 than to anything in Age of Calamity. It feels closer to an action RPG version of P5 than to a standard musou.I don't think the calendar means as much as it does in Persona, and someone would have to correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there are true social links either.

Good luck with that
The lack of DLC for this game is really weird given both companies involved.

Hope we get a sequel with Akechi and Yoshizawa.
Wouldn't be surprised if we got some other type of spinoff with them in it.The lack of DLC for this game is really weird given both companies involved.

That's my hope.Wouldn't be surprised if we got some other type of spinoff with them in it.
Same. :DRight? I was expecting $100 season passes and stuff with this game. (Probably for the best that there isn't one, because I'd be all over it)
I feel like you would really need to value portability to go Switch here. Those load times alone are brutal enough, but I'd want my musou games to perform as well as possible.
I'm really looking forward to this! At the same time, I've never played a Warriors style game. After watching a few minutes of combat, it looks really confusing. I hope it isn't a big deal.
I'm more concerned about combat being real-time and not turn based. There are like a dozen enemies on the screen at once and it looks like chaos. I just hope it will make sense once I play.As already mentioned, the game plays like an Action RPG rendition of Persona 5, rather than a Dynasty Warriors/Musou game with a Persona skin. The calendar system is still in place (but there are no real deadlines to finish the dungeons), you can still fuse Persona's, you can sneak up on enemies to initiate combat, and so forth.
It's really not that different from P5, and quite honestly, I wouldn't mind a mainline instalment that takes a similar approach.
look at the load times comparison video posted above. There is your answer

I played and enjoyed Age of Calamity, but if I had the option of a better performing version on any other platform I would have played it there, handheld be damned.
This game is following the original version, not the Royal version. As such, certain characters such as Kasumi or Maruki won't appear (or even be mentioned) in Strikers. There might also be some light discrepancies between the stories. After completing Royal I'm really stoked to get back to these characters. And I'm a musou fan too so this works out great.
