Pence was on standby to 'take over' during Trump's unannounced Walter Reed visit, new book reports
Vice President Mike Pence was put on standby to temporarily assume the powers of the presidency during President Donald Trump's unannounced visit to Walter Reed hospital in November 2019, according to a copy of New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt's forthcoming book obtained by CNN.
That visit that meant nothing, and was routine? Sounds far from it.
The WH' story is still that he went to the hospital for the first half of a routine physical, with the second half to be completed 6 months later.
I meant it emotionally in that, I wish the event that needed to occur in order for pence to have become president had actually taken place ;)
A heart attack is equally likely I'd say, given his age and physique.
But, this guy said Trump was the healthiest president of all time!
Pence would have luckily withered and turned into a moldy gray goo when faced with that kind of responsibility.
It doesn't happen all the time when it's a "routine physical". Don't do Trump's bullshitting for him.
This is my take on it. There's no way you'd inform the VP to be ready if the guy was just going for a checkup.
Cheney was acting president when Bush went in for a planned procedure that involved a general anaesthetic, which is normal and sensible. An unannounced "routine physical" shouldn't incapacitate anyone.
