started last year, got a GTX 1060 3GB. Don't play too many graphically heavy games so it's alright.

Barring nothing dying, next time I'll upgrade it'll be to replace the whole system, so in 2023-24 I'll build the best microATX for <£700. Excluding a new monitor.

Intel integrated laptop cards(couldn't tell you which ones) -> 7600 GT -> 260 GTX -> 660 TI -> 970 GTX -> 1080 ti

Would have considered going with AMD this time round but their cards kept getting delayed, so went with a 1080 ti....

When I built my PC in 2013 I got a 650 TI Boost for it. Just upgraded to a GTX 1660 last month.

I've always stuck to budget cards in my PCs. I care way way more about getting a nice high frame rate than I do about graphical bells and whistles. Also most of the games I play are the kinds of multiplayer online games that are designed to be more CPU intensive than GPU so they can run on a wide variety of PCs, so they don't use a lot of graphical power anyways. If I can run a game on high settings, bonus, but I'm more than happy to play with all the sliders all the way down and stay above 60 fps if I have to.

Come on, it can run Counter Strike at 60fps, what more can I ask.
No reflections due to lack of shader support in Need For Speed: Underground 1 & 2 and no shader enchanced water effects in Far Cry, Half-Life 2 and Prince of Persia The Sands of Time pissed me of so god damn much... CS 1.5-1.6 worked decently yeah :D

Good to see some classic cards showing up here.

Counting just video cards with 3D acceleration:

Diamond Stealth II S200 (Rendition Verite represent!)
Canopus Pure 3D II (Voodoo 2)
Matrox G200
Matrox G400 Max
Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti200
Nividia 8800 GT
Nvidia GTX 460
Nvidia GTX 970

I'm really starting to feel that upgrade bug start to bite again, just not sure what to pick right now.

If you can smash that bug, do it. I feel like something unfortunate will pop-up when next gen consoles will come... Like 8GB VRAM is suddenly not enough or RT tech in consoles is far ahead of what NVIDIA is offering right now or something related to SSD.

So better wait for next year offerings at least.

The 7900GS was the first GPU I purchased with my own money, and if I'd sprung for a 4GB 670 back in the day, I almost certainly would've skipped the 900 series entirely.

Edit: Oh, and the sidegrade to a 5750 was because my 2900XT kicked the bucket.

4. 1080...I should have never bought an SLI config, but the high bandwidth bridge gave me about a 40% increase over my original bridge. So there's that, I guess.

Slow, and not very well supported in games. Still much better than using the S3 Virge - with that games would actually run faster in software mode using only the CPU than they would using the graphics card.

The HD 4870 was the most expensive one I bought and after that I swore to never buy a GPU that expensive ever again. I am very happy with my current GTX960 because it does it's job well for the games I play and it's super quiet and even passively cooled when I'm only watching videos or browsing the internet.

I believe I started with a Voodoo 2 (my first few PCs didn't have a dedicated GPU). Had a TNT2 at one point. I'm up to a 2060 now after four years with a 970.

Good Lord...

the furthest back I can remember was a Ti4200 I think it was. I remember it came with Morrowind, but wasn't into games like that at the time. My buddy kept trying to sell me on it.
After that I think I bought a 5770 because I saw it at a Best Buy and I think my older video card was getting pretty old at that point.
Then it was a 760, which was a Christmas present and I had that for a while. Sometime after I had it for a while I bought another one and tried SLI for the first time. It wasn't long after I got the second card that I replaced them both though.
Got a 970 then like a year after launch (I think?) a little while later I got another one of those and SLI'd those.
After that I got a GTX 1080 "FTW Edition" and have had that since. I was planning on getting another one for SLI, but it's really not worth it.

I can't remember all the stuff my Pop used to put in the "family computer" before that.

edit: oh wait, I had the 8800 GT... S I think it was. The one below the 8800 GTX and I think it was below the 8800 GT too.

Voodoo 3 (my dad bought it so I could play Star Wars Force Commander, of all games)
Various integrated Intel laptop chips
Radeon Xpress 200 (I distinctly recall losing my shit because it didn't have a new enough Pixel Shader for most of my games)
~ 4 years pass ~
Radeon HD 4770
Radeon HD 6870
Radeon HD 7950 (this was the "bad" one; I don't know if PowerColor's build quality has improved in recent years, but this was a underpowered shit-brick of a card)
Radeon R9 290x (conversely, the best AMD card I ever had, and I got it for a hot bargain too)

And then I defected!

Currently rocking a GTX 1070 FE, planning on continuing to be a damn rube and buy a 2070S when they drop next week

8800 GT
Nvidia 550 Ti
Nvidia 960
Nvidia 980

Been rocking the 980 for about four years now. Starting to really feel long in the tooth. Gonna leave it a little while longer but I'm not far from an upgrade.

I'm not exactly sure about the specific version of the first one (and definitely can't remember what came before it, even though I did have dedicated GPU before those), but out of the top of my head:

GeForce FX 5600
HD5850
Radeon 270X
GTX 1060

Not a super high rate of upgrades, I'm quite happy with okayish performance and then when the upgrade does come, it feeling a like a real step forward rather than a small incremental upgrade. That said, I have held on far too long with my i920, really need to update that one soon.
