Complete rebuild. Been wanting to do it sooner but then ran into 4K Jeep repair, so postponed.

Ideally,

Zen 2 3900x (was going with the 9900k but I'll take the extra cores threads)

And a 2080ti FTW, or if there's a refresh soon enough, whatever that flagship card is.

And then the monitor, an ROG Swift PG35VQ Quantum Dot HDR Gsync 200hz Ultrawide. (Hopefully this thing release before Cyberpunk, been waiting forever)

Either way I want to build before Modern Warfare, but wait long enough to get the best possible rig at that moment, so I'll be prepared for Cyberpunk 2077, which is REALLY what I'm building it for.

My last Rig I built for The Witcher 3

i7 3770k
SLi GTX 970 FTWs

Served me well, and it will serve my girlfriend well also.

Going to get a 1000+ watt PSU. Then after that my next addition will be a PCI-E 5.0 motherboard, 4th gen ryzen. Video card I will wait and see. 4th monitor is another one I am thinking about. I want to see what happens with HDR first.

My most immediate change is modding my keyboard to have led.

Don't know. Currently using an i7-6700k at 4.5 Ghz with a GTX 1070. I play at 1440p on a G-sync monitor, but really want to get an ultrawide display. I'm thinking I'll need a much better GPU though. So I'll probably be looking closely at the benchmarks for the 2070 Super late in the month.

My cpu is still strong, but now that I have a 144hz monitor, I plan on upgrading the graphics card this year. Not sure what I'll be getting yet though.
However my friend is looking to buy a new pc, so I might just sell him my whole set-up and get all new stuff for myself. If so I might go with one of the new amd cpu's and not sure about graphics card.

4k 60 RT with ultra settings is definitely a ways away
I think in a year we should see that happen on the new 7nm node process. So whatever the next true revision of Nvdia cards, whether 3080Ti or 2180Ti, it should make it happen. Plus the rumor is that next year AMD will have their high performance cards as well.

I think 2020 is going to be exciting time for gaming overall.

Yeah, I'm hyped. I've learned not to pin my hopes on AMD for GPUs though :(

Hopefully the 3080ti blows the 2080ti out the water.

I'm basically on a gaming PC from 2012 (i7-4770k, 120GB SSD with 2 TB HD, 16 GB DDR3), but with a 1080Ti. Most of what I do is lightweight multitasking across three screens, but I did update one monitor from an old 900p to a 1440p/[144,165OC] monitor recently, sliding my 1080p/60 monitor to secondary with a 4k TV for mirroring.

So I'm getting due for an eventual rebuild, but nothing is pushing me to do it yet. I'm waiting for VR to stabilize some, launch Vive on a 780Ti was enough to convince me that I want to buy back into VR eventually, but I'm not happy enough with the current options.

Ideally I can put off a rebuild for another 2-3 years. I'm looking forward to updating my aged DDR3 RAM.

I got the i7 9700k about half a year ago and then upgraded my 1080ti to a 2080ti for 250€ after my gpu died. Pretty sweet deal I got there.

So when the next big step up for a Ti card arrives, I might just sell this one and upgrade again for a very good price. I just hope prices of Nvidias highend will come down a bit, but that's just me dreaming.

I'm now on ryzen 1600 + 1080 Ti , ryzen 3700x + RTX2080 Super sounds good

Might get a cheap RTX2080 if I can find one as I've pre-ordered Control .

I will probably be holding out until the black friday- post black friday window to prep for the onslaught of late 2019- early to mid 2020. Cyberpunk being the be all end all goal, but also VTM Bloodlines depending on feedback, Doom and multiple others. Probably a total new build bottom up.

I'm really on the look out for a 4K True HDR Monitor with G-sync, 60Hz is fine, 120-144z is the dream, I keep hearing we're not there yet though, and then of course price is an object.

Honestly I just upgraded to a 1070Ti (Was originally on a RX 570 and wanted a little bit more power for 1080p)

Main thing for me is to upgrade my CPU, look at the 3700x tbh since I already have an X470 board.

I'm just stacking bread right now with plans to build an entirely new rig Q3/4 next year with a budget of ~2k. But I want the next console gen set in stone so I can aim for 4K/60FPS for most multiplatform games through the gen

I'm really hoping to get a good 3-4 more years out of my i5 6600/1070 combo. I'm probably going to be tight on money for the next few years so I'm going to stretch this out as long as possible.

At least wait for the 2080 super if you are gonna go that route. A cheaper 2080 will still be quite a bit of money to spend on a gpu with basically the same performance as you've had for quite some time now. Seems a bit silly to do that "upgrade" just for RTX, especially the first generation where performance isn't all that amazing.

I recently upgraded 2-3 months ago. Running i9/2080; playing on a 27" Acer Predator. 1440p maxed out is good enough for me now.

I don't think I will be PC gaming that much more as I get older (35 now). I will settle for a high end laptop when the desktop is a bit more outdated or simply can't spend that much time at my desk.

Yeah , August seems like a good month to hunt for 2080 Super . Hopes it's closer to 2080 Ti than 2080 nvm just checked the spec it's still quite a distance away from 2080 Ti

My current PC is over 4 years old now, but still runs great.
Specs:
MSI Z97 Mobo
4790K @ 4.6Ghz
32GB 1600Mhz RAM
EVGA RTX 2060
EVGA 850 G2 PSU
x2 6TB Barracuda Pro HDD
x2 2TB SSD
x1 512GB SSD
Define R5 Case

That said, I'll probably be building a new system early next year. I want to go itx, and already have a fractal node 304 I'll be using. I just need to get a CPU, mobo, RAM and smaller PSU.

I'm right on the verge of dropping a whole lot of money into my PC. I'm just too indecisive.

Right now I have a GTX 1080 FTW edition, 24 GB DDR3 RAM (not sure of frequency), i5-4570 3.2 GHz, Samsung EVO 850(?) 250gb SSD and a 500gb sata drive

Playing comfy couch with my TV and a steam controller so I was planning on getting a monitor but I'm having a hard time deciding. Keep going back and forth between a 1440p 144hz which I can actually take advantage of, and a future proof 4k HDR with all the hz.

Next up would be my CPU....that thing's gotta go. I'm thinking about getting an R3 3900x but might wait for that 16-core to "exist." That would mean a new motherboard, which would be DDR4 compatible.

Probably won't get more storage until PCIe 4.0 NVMs are a good price for enough space to have a couple games on there. The 1080 I'm planning on replacing with either the 3080 series or the 3080 ti super...not a huge rush to upgrade yet.

Wrote more than I first thought I would. Whoops.

I just ordered 16 gigs of DDR4 3000 ram for around 60 and I plan to upgrade from my 770 gtx in July, finally. I have an i5 6600 system and I don't plan to go beyond 1080p60hz any time soon, so I think whatever I get will hold me off for a while. I want to play Cyberpunk but I don't need Max settings and I think VR using the oculus rift S should be fine until I do a full system upgrade in 2-3 years.

I'm still on an x99 platform system, so my next move will likely be from the ground up.
Looking lovingly in Zen2 (Ryzen 7 3700x)'s direction.
My 1080TI seems like it's still damn solid for the foreseeable future.

If I get a Valve Index, I'll see how my PC handles it. If an upgrade is needed, I'd look at a RTX 2080.

If not needed... I'll probably build a new PC from scratch in 2 years. Maybe 3.

My x99/5930k system is going on 5 years old this fall (CPU/Mobo/RAM at least) so it's about time for an upgrade.

I've been mainly waiting for what the new Ryzen brings to the table before doing an upgrade. The higher core count and higher IPC is looking good but as all we have are AMD's numbers right now, gonna have to wait for independent benchmarks before making any decision.

On the GPU front, my 1080Ti is still a beast of a card so I can stick with that for the time being, until at least the 2nd generation of RTX cards hit and we see something in that $600-750 ish price range that is worth replacing a 1080Ti for. I cannot justify a $1200 card for not that much more performance than what I have currently, despite how cool the RTX stuff looks.

EDIT: I see djplaeskool above is in about the same boat as me.

Still rocking an i7-4930k and a 780 Ti. Unfortunately, between saving for a house and general debts that need to be paid, actually upgrading is looking more later than sooner.

CPU, I have an i7-4770. But if I change CPU I'll have to change Mobo and Ram.

And I also need to change to a better case, this one doesn't have space in the side for cable managment.

And at that point why not also change power supply.

And storage.

Basically the entire PC.

I think my i7-7700k and 1080 SC will last me a good long while i don't plan on upgrading my CPU or ram for another 5 years minimum but i think i will upgrade my GPU in the next 4 years. I didn't think the 2080/2080ti was worth it since i play 1080p/60 and i have no problems playing VR (which i want to focus on getting index next). I'm not upgrading my GPU till 3 new nvidia lines from now so the 5080/5080ti or whatever those will be called and by then i think i will just build a new PC and slap a 2080/2080ti since they should be at least half the price by then and use that in my living room.

Honestly my i7 - GTX970 - 16GB RAM still serves me well enough. And it is from 2017. A three year old pc used to be so slow and bad. But nowadays I am happy with it.

Instead I built a super cheap computer for around 150$. an old Lenovo Thinkcentre M93P tiny that I added a SSD and some RAM to. So now I've finally moved my gaming laptop (that I almost never used for games) to the living room, while the new one will serve me for doing illustrations / work.

I've been riding the 780Ti/6850x(after my 2600k died) for a while now, and have been wanting to upgrade for years. I'm preferably going with AMD next, unless Intel come blow them away again. I kind of want an AMD card also simply because I'm tired of Nvidia's bullshit, but I'm not going to skimp to make a statement. I'll likely jump in with the next set of GPUs post 20xx and get a 3700x or something. I'm going to do a full rebuild with a smaller tower next.

Probably a 1440p 144Hz monitor. I'm still rocking a sub-HD 900p monitor paired with an i5 7600K/GTX1080.

Ray-tracing is promising but not worth a GPU upgrade right now.

Able to hit 1440p with most games at 60fps. Waiting for a single gpu solution for 4k fps before I upgrade my gpu. Probably get more Ram first and upgrade my ssds.

My i5 4690k will be replaced by a Ryzen 3600 most likely. Also my main SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB) will begin it's fifth year of operation, so I'll have to replace it soon for an nvme drive.
If I can sell the old stuff I probably can afford to upgrade my GTX 1060 to a second hand 1070.

I think right now is a bad time for buying a new GPU,
I would think by the end of next year we are going to see Nvidia on 7nm with second gen RT, AMD with "Navi+" with RT and a larger GPU (5700 is pretty small, like a midrange GPU, they can built something a lot more capable), I feel like the current stuff is not going to age all that well

You think they're going to release a second gen of cards within 4 month of launching the SUPER Refreshes?
