Not sequels. Xenosaga and Xenoblade are two new IPs altogether by members of the same team, Xenosaga having been a failed attempt to tell a revised version of the six-episode Perfect Works chronology (having failed as a result of developer infighting around Episode II as well as a massive sales drop-off after Episode I).Xenogears, Grandia, and Lunar Silverstar Story Complete are some of my most vivd gaming memories. I never played any of the Xeno "sequels," and frankly i'm not sure how any of the subsequent xeno games fit in (or even if they do). Would love a remake.
I haven't finished Xenogears yet but comparing it to Xenosaga, they seem to share a lot of themes and elements. They have different approaches to narrative, characters, and exploration however.Xenogears, Grandia, and Lunar Silverstar Story Complete are some of my most vivd gaming memories. Both are personal favorites, but Xenogears remains the GOAT for me.

Yeah, i got halway through that explanation and was reminded why i never fully understood how the games were related. Thanks for the info, though. Part of me is somewhat relieved they're not connected.
Yeah but giant robots doing martial arts is super cool tho.The character combat in Xenogears is a visual treat. Unleashing max AP combos is super satisfying and I love it. Gear combat on the other hand is...why did they limit it to single two-button combos? Why didn't they just extrapolate the excellent AP combo system to Gears? It's not nearly as interesting.
Of course it is! They're both amongst the best JRPGs the PS1 have to offer.I just snagged a copy of Xenogears. Is it worth playing through?
Bought both as they came out. PE drove me bonkers doing the endgame. The running animation matched up with a slow movement speed, and that repeating Resident Evil style foot step noise.
Xenogears was more traditional, and it's a shame that Disc 2 is an unfinished trash heap of convoluted anime bullshit.
It is. I just wish it looked and felt as cool as the character combat.
