Since last March, according to the World Health Organization, Israel has killed more than 260 and injured nearly 6,400 Palestinians in Gaza using live fire. In all, more than 27,900 Palestinians have been injured over the course of the demonstrations through other crowd-dispersal tactics, including tear gas and rubber bullets. Nearly 150 people have been crippled, requiring amputations, or left paralyzed.

Within hours, Israeli snipers safely positioned on raised berms just beyond the buffer zone inside Gaza killed eighteen Palestinians and wounded 703 others with live ammunition; the youngest casualty was a two-your-old boy, with a head injury, the oldest was a seventy-one-year-old woman shot in the legs. The lack of any effective global reaction helped perpetuate a pattern of unarmed protesters' meeting lethal excessive force, repeated on a weekly basis.

This is a really good in depth read on the situation. Absolutely heartbreaking.

The complicity of the West, USA particularity, with the government of Israel and the invasion of Palestine will be one of the darkest pages of human history of the latter half of the XX and XXI century.

I am not surprised. The people who are surprised in all this are the ones who do not live in the Middle East and do not see the everyday crimes of Israelis.

Go support BDS people and apply economic pressure against them. Counting on your governments will do nothing when they actively support Israel.

What's new? The West isn't going to stand against Israel and its crimes against humanity, they're staunch allies after all.
This thread won't even gain steam, let someone say some shit about AIPAC though and everyone's suddenly wagging their fingers.
Support BDS, fuck Israel.

It's like black americans with the police. You can peacefully protest or debate for change all you want, but not a damn thing will change. They will continue to kill you until you break. Once you break and get violent, they will point a finger and say "see, look how violent those blacks/arabs are".

The article does a good job tackling the fixation on Hamas that all too often is used to shut down criticism of Israeli policy. Well worth the read.
The 2018 Great March of Return began not as a Hamas-organized political operation but as a call from grassroots activists and ordinary inhabitants...Before the protests had even begun, however, Israel took the line that these were "Hamas protests" and Israeli officials expressed concern that armed attackers might breach the fence and enter Israeli population centers. That pre-emptive framing prepared the way for Israel to use disproportionate force in response.
It's unfortunate but largely inevitable given the IDF's violent suppression of them that the protests have been getting more militarized over time.
Is calling the soldiers Nazis still unacceptable mods?
Can we actually focus on the Palestinians rather than petty forum politics, please?

Israeli soldiers shot dead a teenage Palestinian medic in the occupied West Bank, his colleagues and the Palestinian health ministry have said.

Sajid Muzher, 17, was killed at the Dheisheh refugee camp next to Bethlehem, the ministry said in a statement. Early on Wednesday morning, Israeli troops had entered the area, leading to a confrontation with residents, who threw stones. Medical teams had rushed in to provide first aid.

Muzher had worked for the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, which later said he was shot while attempting to treat one of those wounded by Israeli fire. He died of his injuries in hospital and was buried on Wednesday afternoon.

Ahmed Gharib, 23, another first responder, said he was working alongside Muzher when he was hit. "It was 6am exactly," he said at the funeral tent in Dheisheh, still wearing his bright orange medic vest, with tape and bandages in the pockets. Muzher had also been wearing his high-visibility clothing, he said.

Imagine being able to go into refugee camps and kill medics with impunity because you know political leaders from both sides will line up to publicly bend a knee in your honour.

Absolutely horrific. They kill medics and journalists with no consequences over and over and over again. It's incredible, not to mention they take billions to US aid every year on top it, even though they are a rich country themselves.

Meanwhile we just cut aid from Central American countries. But no matter what Israel does, that's never even a thought!

These soldiers are 18-21 year olds who must serve in the army according to the mandatory draft laws. Are you seriously calling them Nazis?
Blame the government, sure, but at the end of the day these soldiers are young people that are put in the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunately easy to sway. Your comparison is not okay.

Compared to last year, there was a relatively peaceful protest yesterday. But when protesters throw bombs at you (you can see in the article) - do you honestly expect soldiers to not shoot? There isn't a single country in the world that would act differently regarding incidents such as these, especially on its borders. In any country in the world where someone acts violently on its border, illegally, he will most likely get shot on the spot.

A reminder that the more you wait on this, the more dead bodies pile up.

Millions of lives are on the line, make this a core issue amongst your representatives, Aipac and Isreal's supporters made it theirs and the political establishment got away with supporting this for decades because of complacency.

You'd be selfish if you ignore this just because it doesn't directly affect you.

This should be a make or break issue, republican or dem, their should be no justification or redemption for supporting this.

The world has failed Palestinians. They don't even register on the radar any more, giving the occupying forces carte blanche.

Where is the justice?

It's fucking sick how the Israeli government treats these people and certain countries are all too happy to take all the blood money they can stuff their pockets with in exchange for silencing any attempts to call Netanyahu out as the genocidal piece of shit he is.

In any country in the world where someone acts violently on its border, illegally, he will most likely get shot on the spot.

Can't recall many other countries where snipers shoot unarmed children near the border for sport.

I've had first hand experience with the IDF/IAF in Lebanon, shoot on sight, my friends mother had her face smashed in by a rifle stock, indiscriminate bombing, land confiscation, fuck everyone of them.

I will not only blame the government, the soldiers take a lot of the blame in gleefully killing innocents.
Fuck them, they're fascists as well.
Imagine defending the IDF, they deserve every one of their fucking ranks killed.

What a load of crock shit.
IDF has been routinely caught shooting innocents, medics, children and elderly just for protesting, helping the injured and getting close to/ damaging a fence.

Now, considering that these IDF attacks are routinely snipers, you're telling me they are defending themselves from bombs? snipers?

Get out of here.

I have been following this particular issue since the start and honestly? I see no end in sight.

A couple of weeks ago Hamas had the fine idea of preventing people from protesting because they wanted truce with Israel and all that did was get one civilian killed and the protest continued on because people resisted Hamas.

I hope the people have strength because they are going to need it.

Fuck Israel.

Not much left to say but fuck Israel and everyone who continue to enable their crimes (including those who stan for them here).

Wish there was more I could do besides boycotting and donating, but there's only so much a nobody from Malaysia can do. I hope Israelis and Americans stand up for what's right. You have the power to change things for the better. Their lives are in your hands.

So it's unfair to hold Israeli soldiers accountable, but you're perfectly fine justifying the murder of hundreds of innocent Palestinians because a few of them fought back?

Disgusting post, but I shouldn't be surprised after reading your previous thoughts on this matter.

Oh fuck off. I can't believe someone is defending the fucking IDF. They're fascists and they constantly defend settlers and will always shoot unarmed civilians and I am tired of getting videos about them killing civilians, taking people's homes or outright demolish buildings while the rest of the world whines on how we should be careful with wording Israelis. They're like Nazis, full on fascists, you people cannot keep defending them while genocide (ethnic fucking cleansing) keeps taking place and not providing any meaningful solution. We had two fucking intifadas and Palestinians have compromised so many fucking times yet Israel didn't go through with any deal and just limited Palestinians control or autonomy every single time.

It's not like anyone is gonna fight for them.
Putting aside that the people firing are snipers and the whole "but their throwing bombs" defense falls flat on its face on the fact that A) they are fucking snipers and B) they are indiscriminately firing on all protestors regardless if they are non violent, medics, children or the elderly.

The fact that any form of resistance is painted as terrorism is disgusting, especially with the poster here.

The peaceful option is getting met with bullets and destruction of homes while your politicians give the oppressor financial and political support.

There is no peaceful option left, not if the international community sits on its ass.

You want a peaceful option, pressure the fuck out of your politicians till they force oppressor to stop their atrocities.

Anything other than that, you can fuck off.

What a horrendous justification of murder/oppression.

Under international law, the Palestinians are allowed to use violent means to fight for self-determination and to oppose an occupying foreign power...

That's what's so infuriating yet most are out of touch with reality. Israel's PR have done the impossible: Make any action done by Palestinians (armed resistance, BDS) as a threat to Jews yet justifying genocide. Maybe in 100 years where Palestinians are almost extinct will westerners feel a little bit sorry for them. Maybe even Israel will give them a right to return if the numbers are way less then the jewish population. Anything to justify genocide it seems.

Israel has a stranglehold on the American government, so this will only continue until Palestine literally doesn't exist.

Nothing will be done about it, unfortunately.

And that's why anyone who pretends to give a shit about bigotry and the rights of people needs to act now.
The reason this shit is allowed to continue is that its not a core issue for the vast majority of people so they let it slide or accept it, while it is core issue for Aipac and Isreal's supporters, the faster the opposition turns into a major issue, the better.

Being anti-isreal is political suicide. You just can't do it. AIPAC has embedded itself so deep in both parties that any talk of justice for Palestinians is deemed anti-semitic.

They've even managed to convince a decent portion of the UK public that Corbyn/Labour are anti-semitic.

That is exactly why the opposition must be strong.
If you let them do that shit unopposed, then your complacency is part if the problem.

Either you stand with us or you stand with them.
If this was an LGBTQ issue, this would not stand and the outrage would be immense, but because this is an issue where the oppressor and its allies have silenced opposition, the onus is on us to undo that.

Remember that LGBT issues used to be minor until people made a stand on it, same can be done here.

Are you sure you know what a Nazi is?
-Asserts dominance over land and says ethnic group has no right to be there
-takes ethnic groups land away and property away. takes away their education and school supplies
-kills ethnic group to keep them in their camps
-denies aid to group from outside countries
-soldiers laugh when killing young kids
-believes in racial superiority

You are talking about fascism.

You really should study political movements again.

Nazism is to asser dominance of the "Arian people" and the destruction of semitic and bolscevics community in particular. That's hardly israel, don't you think?

Then there is the fact that Israeli government is making friends with several adjacents of nazis (yes the ones that would sport swastikas) and is helping them in their countries
