I'm sitting on $190 in Amazon credit and debating the 1tb expansion card. I want it but I don't need it. I can manage with the internal space that I have. But I know I'd be happy having it in the future. So hard to decide. $220 is so much for this thing.

Hmm been trying on the app but get an error when I select the game oh well hope it's fixed sometime before Thursday

Its it the "oops looks like you're stranded error" because I keep getting that. It's frustrating because I bought a digital key that I won't have access to until launch day so the app is the only way I'll be able to preload I think

Everywhere says that CP2077 comes out "at midnight in your region" on Xbox but at least for me (US) in the MS store it shows 6PM Central on Wednesday which lines up with the worldwide release. An extra night to play will be sweet—I can definitely get behind a 6PM game launch

That would be great. I am off on Thursday and was hoping to play Wednesday when I get off of work. Can't wait to dive into this game.

Kind of wish the threads would be re-opened. Odd that the Spoiler one and the other one was locked, but the one pinned is still open.

My screen cutting to black issues are getting worse. Happened in 3 separate games i played tonight, so frustrating. It didn't do this the first few days I had it and now it happens multiple times every day. It was cutting out as soon as i turned it on today.

Have you used any media apps?
When I do this happens until I do a full shutdown

So my Series X arrived

Dpad is a massive upgrade. Tetris Effect and Ori 2...oh my. Tactics as well, but the colourful games really get it going.

New console brings out the dts x in the soundbar and 4k HDR. So much lovely capitalisation of new tech. Bought the pieces over the last 18 mths and the effects whilst playing tetris were just so stimulating. Entertainment upgrade complete. Can't wait to see what Fable and co look like. Playing tetris on og then on the x with all features enabled was huge.

Does anyone know how regions work? Some games are censored here so I'm planning on buying them from a different region. How does it work?
I only ask cause I bought blue dragon from my region and instead of having the local language it only had English. No idea why.

So I am having an issue with HDR, screen is dark like when your phone goes to a darker screen when you haven't touched it for a short time.

Felt I noticed it when I tried an Xbox 360 arcade game and it just felt super dark, now it seems every game is darker and the quick guide is also very dark. Had to turn HDR off as it's way to dark to even use.

What's going on here?

Welp

Tried to do a 10 second power off and when it came back on controller won't connect or stay on. Also doesn't work when it's connected through usb.

The controller will turn on the system but that's it. What a headache.

You can just flip to a different region in the options and reset your Xbox. Newer games will look at your language option and download/install language packs based on that. I believe an older game like Blue Dragon was tied to region in regards to language.

Wow uh, I thought maybe I'd resolved the issue with my TCL television tonight and no... no, I did not. The whole "flashes off and the screen goes white for a second" thing. Not only did that happen a couple of times but this one really fun time the TV just gave up entirely, went to an old-school snowy screen thing, and the Xbox Series X automatically shut down in response.

Everything's still working fine otherwise but goddamn. I am definitely not watching anything via streaming services on the poor console anytime soon.

So, it happened. All that S talk and ended up getting an X, haha.

I haven't used it that much so far, it was a busy day. I unwittingly turned off my phone's wifi during setup and the console disconnected from it. It successfully completed after that but should I be worried about something?

Holy smokes! I've been dealing with this too! Any more info on this? It's annoying as hell lol Happens on the dashboard at while streaming Hulu/Netflix/Prime/etc.

Have people with the TCL black screen issues tried using a different hdmi cable? I was having that problem before getting an audio extractor, which requires 2 hdmi cables. I'm using a 2.0 cable to go from the extractor to the tv, and the problem disappeared for me.
Both cables I've tried have been HDMI 2.1. I'll try 2.0 first chance I get. I hope it resolves this.

I have a Vizio P series and my series X does the exact same thing from time to time. Even down to the old school snow screen. I turn the console off, back on and it's good to go

I am going to try and grab a console for myself but having trouble deciding.
I don't PC game - if that helps - but I have a PS5 so I am thinking this machine would be a Game Pass machine. I have a hard-drive with some digital Xbox One games as well. I sold my One X somewhat recently.

The Series S seems like The Game Pass Machine but I also feel like I might be feeling left out if I don't get all the bells and whistles that the X gets but I also don't know if the gap is that big that I will notice?

I have a true native 4K monitor that is 60hz compatible so that makes me also lean towards Series X.

I really just want to play Ori, Halo Infinite, and Destiny 2, and the Bethesda titles.
Honestly it really depends if you wanna play halo, fable, Bethesda games, etc at there best. You gotta ps5, you can play all the multiplats and exclusives at 4K 120 with ray tracing and all that jazz. Might as well get the cheaper console, an don't let the storage fool you you can easily buy an external ssd and use it with quick resume and all the next gen features pretty sure. And this is coming from someone with a day 1 series X, $300 is a steal lol hard to pass up.

Really comes down to if you wanna play halo infinite at its best or its second best. But in your case I'd say get an S, objective is to save money with gamepass and play mainly the exclusives might as well do it the cheapest (but most premium) way possible.

I found a Series X in the wild, and have broken my rule of not buying launch window consoles. Oh well. It's almost my birthday anyway.

It is somehow still bigger in real life than it looks online. Considering how little it looked compared to a PS5, I'm now curious how big those actually are.

I love the X so far, though I've only been playing XB1 games. Nier Automata is so damn smooth now, those nasty frame drops are gone!
Also the screen doesn't flicker like crazy when I select VRR this time around. That option was useless to me on the One X, most games caused some kind of brightness flickering, going light to dark very quickly. I'm using a Samsung TV (QF6 or something).

Quick resume worked like a charm with 2 XB1 games (Nier and AC Odyssey) but failed with the one 360 game I tested (Nights). No idea why. I wish there was some indication that the game was waiting in a QR state.

Now to let it sit downloading the upgrades for Forza Horizon 4 and No Man's Sky.

My friend just noticed that his XSX is warm while off. This was because of instant on, correct? Does anyone know much power it consumes while off?

Has anyone else had weird audio issues when Windows Sonic for Headphones is on? I've noticed it on Gears 5 and Warzone, some sounds come through almost echo-like, or with a slight reverb (it's really hard to explain). I've changed it to Stereo Uncompressed and it seems to have fixed it but it still seems odd. I'm using Astro A50s, optical out of the TV which may have something to do with it? I know very little about audio settings.

That's just what bad spatial audio sounds like, eg Windows SoNic. I'd rather use stereo than WS. There are free trials you can access on the store for Atmos and DTS: X which are much better spatial audio solutions for headphones.

Alright. I like the feature so will keep it enabled on my x.

Has there been any power draw tests on this mode?
Honestly my Series X turns on in about 6 seconds without Instant On. I think ill just keep it off to avoid the heat.

As far as power goes, heres an Ars Tenchinca article. Seems fairly tame.

arstechnica.com

Xbox Series X unleashed: Our unrestricted preview

In good news, we finally have a stunning 120fps game. But not much else, games-wise.
But it's also comparable to the total heat output of most modern consoles. Series X's power draw—a theoretical maximum of 315 watts, but closer to 190 watts as measured by a Kill-a-Watt device while playing "next-gen" games—is a good metric, compared to the 120W average gameplay draw of the original Xbox One and 185W average gameplay draw of Xbox One X. (You read that correctly: In my limited testing, Series X and XB1X are absolutely comparable in power draw.) Series X just happens to vent its air at a particularly noticeable rate, which is probably why early reports claimed it ran hot.

I think I might have the same issue as you. Also have a TCL TV - Every time I open a streaming app (except YouTube) my series X goes in and out of white static. The only way to fix is a reset of the console. Only happens when I try to open one of those apps. So weird.

This random WiFi disconnecting issue is really starting to become a problem. I can't play online games because it'll randomly drop connection. Just started happening last night. All other devices that I own are fine. No one else is experiencing this?
