Now put a crown on a male toad and show me Prince Toadstool.

Always knew Mario was just a junkie trying to get his hands on shrooms. Didn't know his main squeeze Peach was one of those shrooms too.

The Mario lore keeps getting fucked up with each passing year. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Mushroom Kingdom being the size of Australia.

Here's the more important question

DnAzf5-X0AEgP4R.jpg

Is the only reason Bowser kidnapped so many Toads because they all were Peachettes?

...

That makes tons of sense, Peachettes are decoys and Bowser kept being fooled by them!

Also, you know, this also explains why in SML the Daisy at the end of each world kept being a fake one! Tatanga had access to this princess-ifying technology.

We're through the looking glass here!

What if every time Mario loses a life in these games that is really a Toad actually dying, and the Mario you play as after that is a different Toad wearing the same hat?

Ok, FINE, since no one is adding the picture, HERE IT IS.
08e.png

Yep, so here's the lore:

The crown is just a magical crown. When worn, it will make the bearer take the shape and form of the Star Power holder of the Mushroom Kingdom. Who is the current Star Power holder? Princess Peach Toadstool.

If we swapped roles, and the Star Power holder is not Peach Toadstool, but is King Bowser, think about what would happen if Toadette takes shapes as Queen of Koopalings?

God, this actually suggests that Peach isn't just a specific instance of "the adult/ruling form of a female Toad," but that Peach should properly be called "a Peach," because the blonde hair, blue eyes, haircut, facial structure etc. etc. are all shared among mature forms of Toads –

Peach Toadstool is Type-Peach Name-Toadstool, the way Peachette is Type-Peach Name-Ette, isn't she. Peach is the species. Peaches are a type of cuckoo or parasite which have slowly developed a codependent, controlling relationship with Toads.

A Super Crown is a symbiont Power-Up which converts a viable female Toad to an immature instance of the Peach species, granting aerial mobility, but slowly co-opting the nervous system; Peach Toadstool is a matured form, so completely infesting her host (presumably Princess Toadstool) that she remains in control even after the host body is damaged and shrinks to miniature form. Her age also reduces the efficiency of the gaseous jet systems which provide aerial mobility and convince Toads, earthbound residents of a traditionally very vertical ecosystem, to use Super Crowns – why would she need it in such prime condition, if her host is so thoroughly controlled? And of course, as one of the oldest Peaches, her mastery of language is sufficient that she can use social adaptations to maintain her control over the Mushroom Kingdom.

We might imagine that gliding/double jumping is an adaptation to avoid the Peach's natural predators, likewise landbound Koopas, and navigating their natural habitats. And the human appearance? Another step in the cuckoo process – think of it as something like toxoplasma gondii, which can only reproduce in the stomachs of rats. The Peach adopts a particular form in order to allure human beings, which it can then use to spread its spores or bear its cuckoo children. Selecting a suitably mobile new host vessel, the Peach then manipulates that host vessel into budding off new Peaches across a wide range of locations, spreading them to brick blocks and empty Question Mark blocks by physical contact. Each different outing provides the spores for more Super Crowns. They take years to mature, yes, but eventually the Mushroom Kingdom will be infested.

Peach is elli from last of us.

the toads are the clickers.

The crown holds the fungus mutation that made possible ellie not lose concious.

thats why the kingdon is on constant jeopardy, the humans are tryingt get control back, but mario and luigi are too high to realize.

thats why peach is always targeted.

Shy guys are just humans trying to not get infected with the spores using masks

The lore implications are groundshattering

We hear people talk about things saying "in a post-witcher 3 era" or "post botw era", now things will never be the same in the post-peachette era.

I'm going to go rest now.

But where does Pink Gold Peachette fit in this?

It does make a lot of sense if the mushroom kingdom is like a bee hive.
Peach was originally a toadette, who was chosen to become the next queen, the crown acts as a powerup which allows her to take her "royal form".

And like a bee hive, the queen is the only one who can reproduce.
The kidnapping is actually an ancient courtship ritual performed by the toad king; Bowser.
While being kidnapped, she gives birth to thousands of near identical toad children, who populate the land.

And now the era of peach is over, as toadette will soon become the next queen.

Truly Mario has the deepest lore.
What I like about this new info, is how much sense it makes.
No one is even really weird out by this because it fits so well into what we already know.

Clearly this is something retroactively added. But the developers had clearly gave it a lot of thought in advance, to explain one of the many mystery's of the Mario franchise.

So are we supposed to be treating this Peachette as a separate character? Or is it just Peach dressed up in Toadette fashion?

To everyone bringing up baby peach, she's never appeared in a mainline Mario game to my knowledge and should therefore be considered non-canon. Especially considering the simultaneous existence of baby Peach and baby Rosalina goes against lore in Mario Galaxy where Rosalina is at least a hundred years older than Peach, and as Mario Galaxy is a mainline game it takes priority.

This is where I remind y'all that there's no such thing as "Mario Lore" and according to Miyamoto the characters are just a cast of actors plugged into whatever roles they see fit for the game they want to make.

So Peach was a Toad this whole time.

I'm wondering what Mario thinks now.

This reminds me the ending in Earthworm Jim where everyone was a cow.

There's nothing suggesting baby Peach is not just a baby toad-with-a-crown, surely. If the crown is a special evolutionary item/symbiote for toads it could be added to the child toads as well. Does its metallic nature eventually poison the host body and turn it into pink gold, that's what I'm wondering.
