THey are not buying studios, they are buying an entire publisher... who makes multplatform games...Era is weird sometimes.
Era: I'm not going to buy xbox because it doesn't have games I like
MS bought studios
Era: no fuck you MS
I never said that. I don't like this move because I've always said that 3rd party companies should remain 3rd party companies. I don't like moves like this as it hurts gamers. We saw what happened with Street Fighter V.
Because they will lose out on billions long term.Biggest Judo move in a while.
Yeah, I don't see why MS would pay 7.5b to not make their games exclusive.
in all honesty, now that Xbox pushed the nuclear button... I can see Sony acquiring Capcom. Square Enix and SEGA are too diverse and huge for Sony to want them IMO. However, if something stupid is coming, I think Square Enix are on Sony's sightsI gotta believe Sony knew this was coming, and is in talks for a similarly big acquisition.
Ubisoft? Square? Activision?
You don't play any Bethesda game? ever?
I'm not seeing their worth being too much different, honestly. I'd easily believe Nintendo is worth more now. What does MS with Windows have to do with this? No?
Nintendo is a gaming only company, Sony has PS and a huge movie/music/anime catalog.
And MS has Windows lol
Damn this is going to make Series X impossible to get tomorrow lol.
While massive, no, Sony won't 'react' by buying another company as they don't have to. It can just be a massive get for Microsoft on its own.
Era is weird sometimes.

People talking about companies reacting to this and making moves like it's as simple as an eBay auction.I can categorically guarantee you they didn't just spend $7.5 billion dollars in response to a PS5 showcase, LOL.
Probably some sort of timed exclusivity though if they do put the games out on PS5.We don't know that. Chances are the games will continue to me multi platform but launch on Game Pass day one.
Does 7.5 billion seems cheap to anyone? Bethesda owns some big IP's
GUYS
GUYS
Maybe now with MS funding we will have a sequel to Arkane's PREY
But MS games launch at the same day at steam now...Woooow.
Not up to speed with who's running things at Zenimax, but they have a history of being business assholes, they're why Prey 2 didn't happen and Human Head almost went under, so guess I'll hope that those people will be made to GTFO. They won't, but I'll hope.
Somewhat concerned about games being put on the Microsoft Store. Some of Bethesda's games are of the type that you'd want to buy and mod.
Guess again
And then Sony finds out 10 years later its still paying for the acquisition because 2K put everything behind MTX paywall.
I don't think anyone should equate this to when MS bought Mojang, especially in terms of multi-platform distribution.
There is a major difference between buying out a developer vs. buying out a publisher. I think MS spent 7.5b to acquire exclusivity rights. They have gained so many IPs that could all be system sellers.
I'm forever regretting not getting the full 3 years upgrade from the $1 conversion last year.I better get like 5 years of Gamepass in case they jack the price up
Disney bought Star Wars for 4 billion...Does 7.5 billion seems cheap to anyone? Bethesda owns some big IP's
Pretty much. I am truly curious about how MS expect to recoup the costs if they go for full PC/X exclusivity, goddamn.
they confirmed no PS games? link?Holy hell
no more falliut and oblivion on PlayStation is huge
ms can buy out anyone
