Doom was always fast-paced and no survival horror at all.

Unless you were one of the weird ones that played with no autorun at the lowest difficulty possible.

How can you say that a room full of mancubi, spiders and Hell Knights is from a survival horror game?

they don't remember late game doom 3 was just an action shooter with less enemies able to be on screen. Only the first few levels in doom3 have that horror atmosphere shit.

once you get all the guns... it's just doom.

To be fair, you're describing Doom 2, not the first game. The first game focused on the horror aspect a bit more with smaller enemy counts, jump scare monster closets, bleaker lighting, and more atmospheric music. Doom 2 dumped most of the atmosphere and focused on action.

Which was for the better, as Doom's mechanics are way better suited for action instead of survival horror. This is why Doom 3 ended up being disappointing... it ended up being a really easy and limited action game instead of a horror game. It's hard to be scared when you have crazy fast mobility and super weapons capable of gibbing entire rooms.
