Still waiting on UPS to show up with my Link cable. Since it's after 8pm I'm not sure that's going to happen today, even though my tracking still says by the end of the day.

My official link cable just got here. It's got a great feel and the cable is surprisingly light for it's length, but I was pretty nervous putting the cable in to the clip that holds it to the band, it's a really, really tight fit.

Yea, had to really squeeze the cable to get it in there. Good news is, the clip itself is easy to remove, so you don't have to take it off the cable to play untethered. Just snap the entire clip off the headset.

I don't mind the clip. seems decently sturdy to me. but if it breaks it breaks. I can use velcro then.

I'll try to stick with it. Will try not to lose it! Would be nice if they packed in two or three!

The Anker cable came with a nice tiny vecro loop that is now basically attched to my Quest because it sticks anyway.

Highly recommend everyone to grab Audica when it launches on Quest. Bought on the Oculus store to play via link since it's confirmed to be cross buy and I'm having a BLAST. It's like Beat Saber, but more challenging.
Is it as good of a workout as Beat Saber?

I tried Synth Raiders last month but ended up returning it both because it's the only Quest game to ever make me feel nauseous, but it also didn't really seem like a good workout.

Guaranteed 2 day air should totally take more than 4 business days to arrive right? That's normal right?

Was supposed to be here yesterday. It's still not here, and we're well past the 12:30 to 5:30 pm window. I doubt UPS are out extra late on New Years Eve.

So I guess I'll get my cable more than a week after it shipped *last Thursday* after a delay on the Oculus end. This will officially be the third delay. I know it's just a cable and I shouldn't be so annoyed about it, but I've wasted a bunch of time waiting for this delivery and I could really do with a distraction right now with my head in a weird place due to missing family and all that at the holidays.

So Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is legit. I know people had a lot of praise for the VR that was added, but it's definitely surprised me and exceeded my expectations. It just looks like an amazing VR game. Would recommend to anyone who wanted a traditional playing game that just oozed atmosphere in VR.

Did it ever come? I used to ship quite a lot with UPS and somewhere along the line created an account with them. It's the free account type. It seems like whenever they've had shipping problems with me, I'll get an email with a link to their real-time package tracking (usually have to pay for this). This really should just be the standard. Why are we not allowed to track our packages, for free, in real time. It certainly would make things suck less.

I've got tracking. It currently says 'Delivery estimate unavailable'. On Monday it had a delivery estimate between 1:30pm and 5:30pm, which changed to 'By End of Day' at 5:30 and which didn't happen. Then yesterday the same thing. It's apparently in Yarmouth which is less than twenty miles away. So no idea why it would fail to reach me without explanation, twice, but there you go. If it doesn't show up again tomorrow I guess I'll go raid the place or something.

The sales of this is fucking nuts here in the U.K, been sold out for almost 2 weeks in the North west region where I live. the closest one I can get it is a fucking three hour drive one way! Cant even get a delivery for it, haha. Amazon is just shoving 3rd party retailers on its main product screen for this and the cost of a headset skyrocketed to over £600. You know the damn thing is popular when amazon struggles to keep it in stock. I'll have to wait for a window so I can buy the damn thing.

I got the oculus go last week and was astounded by the quality of the headset and the media viewing experience was damn good for the price. Wanted to taste good quality vr and was impressed by what the entry level headset could pull off. Returned it because it convinced me to buy the quest instead.

I feel very lucky that I have no issues with comfort when it comes to the Quest. I'd prefer a halo style strap naturally but I've used the Quest for hours and comfort has never been an issue.

Perhaps I'm more used to worse, since I had a Sony HMZ-T1 and that thing was torture after about an hour and a half.

Hour and a half? You are torture proof. The hard plastic on that literally dug into the cartilage of my nose. It was unbearable for any period of time. And if it didn't dig into my nose (literally), it was completely out of focus with the tiny sweetspot it had. Obviously this was an issue with the size of my nose, but that thing was a torture device even without;)

The problem I had with stock Quest is it digs into my cheeks. I was constantly fidgeting with it as a result. With my DAS and counter-balance, I can go 2 hours without once touching it.

I angle my strap to keep more of the weight on my forehead and weight off my cheeks. Perhaps I've got strong forehead muscles or something from my time with the HMZ. Who knows.

I'm pretty good with the comfort of the Quest myself as well.
I have the pleather VRCovers which feel good, but they leave marks on my face after just a few minutes. May just go back to the standard face plate.

I am having a big problem with sweat and the standard face plate (even with the cloth VRcover). I live in the tropics and the humidity is horrendous. Yesterday my wife played for maybe 15 minutes and the foam was soaking wet with sweat and it is starting to develop a not so nice smell even after cleaning it after every session. We've tried headbands but those haven't made a difference ... Will the silicone replacement mask make a difference? If so, which one you guys recommend me to get?

Try a big battery on the back yet? Helped mine out a bunch. Just velcroed it on.

I'd like a DAS too, but holding out for something cheaper at this point.

I tried my 10,000 mAh battery from my suitcase--didn't make a difference :( felt way too light to notice.

Is it as good of a workout as Beat Saber?

Not as good of a workout, but definitely more fun and more of a "game" if you're into that. I find myself only owning Beat Saber to show VR newbies.

Finally got my Link cable. It's good.

Not sure if it's the cable, or recent updates to the official software, but I think I'm seeing less compression artifacts in Sam 3 (the second level with smoke, webs, and darkness seems like a worst case scenario for macroblocking). Obviously it could just be placebo, but I had to look for them today, whereas before I couldn't not see them.

Turns out I got an email on the 31st saying my Link cable had been processed and is preparing for shipping. Still hasn't shipped yet, but I was expecting the 8th.

Yeah, I was an idiot and cancelled my initial order. This is for my re-order.

Personally, I think they did some MAJOR improvements with the Firmware 12 update. The blacks, IMO, were greatly improved for example. Either that, or something was defective with my setup on FW 11.

So far I have had success with this USB-C to USB-A adapter and the official Link cable:

I've gone ahead and Gorilla taped it them together for now so they behave like a USB-A to C cable.

EUDEgm3.jpg

It is even working with my 5.0 meter active extender cable that I use to get the signal from my PC to my play area.

It feels good to use the USB port on my RTX card. Even though it isn't technically using the standard it was intended for, it was meant for a VR headset, and I'd been waiting for one that could use the port. So yeah, it feels 'right'. If me changing cables did lead to a better end result, it's probably as much about not having to use ports on my MB, where some would drop and some wouldn't.

I can't seem to get audio out of my PC when playing using Link, despite having the Play VR Audio from PC option turned on. Is that something that just doesn't work with Link right now? Other than that, Link is working great with my 42ft of cabling.

I can't get it out of my PC with oculus stuff, but I can with steam VR stuff by turning on audio mirror.

I can make the oculus play strictly through my pc if I want, but I want it through both.
ideally the next update fixes this.

Guessing you've tried this, but the of couple times my audio didn't work, I fixed it by restarting the quest and the pc. Worked again after that.

VR horizontal scaling
If you have a much smaller space, you may want it to appear a bit larger. Just for comfort. This is possible with horizontal scaling. Note that this means that space appears larger but also when you move in the real world, you cover a larger distance within the game. It may be scaled up to +100% which means that for 1m walked in the real world, you move 2m in the game. Up to 40% should be okay for most people. 10-15% feels really comfortable.

My favorite VR demo, Tea For God, has introduced "horizontal scaling", which allows the in-game playspace to be larger than the real one. I tried it out and could use 40-50% scaling without feeling anything unusual. I hope more games start experimenting with proper locomotion like this.

It's a SteamVR game, though. That's the VR api it uses. For whatever reason, it crashed a lot when I tried playing it with Virtual Desktop. Think I had like a 2 hour session using Link, though.

Also, doesn't it also ship with the Oculus SDK? I'm not even sure it uses SteamVR with Link. It might just run through the Oculus SDK. This is one of those games where I feel Link is better anyways. If you route the cable right, tethered VR isn't annoying when seated.

Was able to nab one after a few weeks of trying. Got a 128gb one for media and movies and downloading games over the next 3 years at least.

The fact the quest doubles up as a high quality pcvr headset allows me to use the next PS as a standard gaming platform and incrementally upgrade my pc over the coming years to be my main vr platform years before I thought it could happen. Wanted to wait for psvr2 but the go and quest convinced me otherwise.

Same. All the advice/reviews said 64 was enough but I grabbed so many games that I'm already running low on space.

Delete some? You can always re-download. I still stand by 64GB being plenty of space...

But its not for purchase on Steam though, how would i go about getting it to show in SteamVR when you start up ALVR on the Quest? (ALVR only supported SteamVR frontend)

I don't know enough about the ins and outs of the launch process in ALVR but Tetris Effect is confirmed as compatible in their FAQ, apparently the VR controllers don't work though so a gamepad might be needed:

I've bought way more games than I expected so far and my 64GB is only half full. There's no porn or digital hoard on mine though. I can't imagine ever running out of space if I keep things I play monthly or more in it. Right now everything I own for Quest is on it.

I managed to buy a 128GB Quest for £250 earlier which should hopefully arrive next week. Now to spend some time digging through this thread to see what games are worth getting.
