I thought the Quest could only use games on the Rift Store, or has that changed?
Haven't tried Steam Games yet, but tried apps like Virtual Desktop and Whirligig, and it worked. Will try a game soon!

Anyone here go from the CV1 to the Quest? Ever since I moved into an apartment it's been a bit more frustrating playing VR games, so I've thought about getting a Quest to let me play without having to lug my PC into my dining area so I have adequate room.

I remember it was just last week.
What the fuck I just bought one of these like 3 weeks ago for retail price, why is this happening?
You can link quest to a pc via usb 3 cable, yeah can play be games from other stores, played Tetris Effect it's on epic storeI thought the Quest could only use games on the Rift Store, or has that changed?
I did, the quest doesn't use external trackers it's built into the headset, also, the screen is much improved, clearer and feels bigger.Anyone here go from the CV1 to the Quest? It's an S curve alright, and we are coming out of the slow part from the looks of it.Reminder - every single year, vr sales have increased. Every year, more vr headsets are sold than the previous year. The last 6 months, the quest alone has sold half of what took the original rift 3 years to sell.
VR sales are exponentially increasing.

ya, its the technological adoption curve, as I've been saying for the past 5 years
Yep, the Gartner hype cycle also shows an interesting aspect of adoption in terms of expectations/interest:
I'd say we're just getting out of the trough of disillusionment. Enlightenment here we come.
It can also run SteamVR games, its just something Facebook doesn't like to talk about.
Just like how the game trailers on Playstation youtube channel doesn't show other platform logos for multiplatform games.

From mainstream appeal? I'd say 5 years or so away from reaching mass consumption on the technological adoption curve.
This is a Steam PCVR graph, but things are definitely looking up for VR (although I never doubted it). Wait until we see December's numbers, shit is gonna go vertical.
The Quest is listed directly on the Alyx site as a supported device. I have to guess Valve had early access to link to test comparability
Been playing Pistol Whip and The Climb lately. The library is filling out nicely.
As a Quest owner who has mostly been using it for Link purposes on PC, I don't get why anyone would need a 128gb version of the headset- games are like 2 GB at most, and because it's a closed market, games are pretty expensive when compared to steam prices (very few sales), so I can't imagine even getting close to that 64 GB threshold
Probably not. But then again if people demand it to him. Then he'll change his mind but in the mean time I don't see anything change.VR is gonna be huge next gen. Will Phil Spencer change his mind and make headset for series X?

It will.I tried this at best buy and didnt notice too big of a gap between this and psv4. I just read that the new half life will be on this?

Im aware of the controls and wirelessness.
Thought about getting one but I keep hearing it's not comfortable. I already have comfort issues with CV1 and PSVR so I suspect this won't work for me. :-(
By default it is front heavy and I found it painful after 20-30 minutes, but I've added two accessories to mine that changed the game. The first was a battery pack I had lying around from my wireless Vive. I added that to the back with velcro cable ties. That improved balance a lot, but I still had red marks and lots of pressure against my face. So I ordered a Studioform headstrap for $20, and that was a game changer. It took the majority of weight and pressure off my face, similar to the PSVR forehead support, but without the hard halo squeezing around my temples. It was $26 shipped from NZ and took 6 days to the US. Last I checked, they were OOS though.Thought about getting one but I keep hearing it's not comfortable. You can find the standing/sitting/roomscale status of a game on its listing in the Oculus store under "Additional Details."Can you play VR from your comfy couch or do you have to stand up and move around?
Yes, they have many sitting experiences and an easy to setup stationary boundary. It also can act as an oculus go with just 3dof trackingCan you play VR from your comfy couch or do you have to stand up and move around?
If Amazon didn't allow it, those sellers would just list them on ebay, and Amazon shoppers would just see a "currently unavailable" message. I guess that would prevent a few less informed consumers from getting the idea that Quest retails for $900, but still, it's about getting a cut from those $900 listings that motivates Amazon to allow it.This is a problem with amazon in general. 3rd party sellers shouldn't be allowed to raise the prices on new products there. That's what eBay and classifieds are for.
