So i got the oculus link cable working almost perfectly. It seems to have much less stutter in halflife alex but intermittently i get stutter periods of 10 seconds or more and then it goes back to normal. I tried other games and they seem fine. The only game that runs like absolute ass over link is no mans sky. That I have to use VD for to get any decent performance.
I am amazed at the clarity of the resolution on this headset. Its absolutely insane how good Alex looks. I find myself picking up objects and looking at them closely at all the detail. But does anyone have a fix for the alex stuttering? Also it seems when i load a new area It will either load fine, stay at the loading screen forever, or just freeze completely. Any help would be appreciated.
On the opposite side from the port.So when I charge I don't see a light on the outside to indicate charging? Am I missing something.

I can't freaking believe Facebook made the old link cable a pain in the ass because they changed the orientation of the usb port, guess they want me to buy the new link cable, gonna need to buy some tape or something, super annoying how it falls right now.
Tea For God, Ancient Dungeon, and Contractors are really good.Just setup side quest, what's the list of "musts"?
setting up Pavlov shack already and some time crisis clone.
Could you have accidentally enabled recording? By default when recording a red dot will appear on screen.I was playing Half Life Alyx this morning and all of a sudden a bright red dot appeared on the display and wouldn't go away. I panicked thinking it was a dead or stuck pixel. Luckily I restarted and it went away. I think it was one of those red dots you see when you're setting the guardian and it shows objects in the play area.
Oh maybe! I was casting so my wife could see what I was doing. Does casting create the red dot? If not, I may have just hit record when trying to castCould you have accidentally enabled recording? By default when recording a red dot will appear on screen.

Awesome! Thanks a lot. I feel much better!Yes, casting causes the recording light to appear, so it was that.
I thought I had a dead pixel the first time too.
Haha, I noticed the day after I got mine on Facebook. Was ready to get with the guy who sold it to me until it finally clicked in my brain.Yes, casting causes the recording light to appear, so it was that.

Yes, Virtual Desktop can pass through your Quest mic. Just know there is around half a second delay.I am so tempted to grab this as my first VR experience. I think i would primarily use it with Virtual Desktop to play stuff on my PC wirelessly. I'm mainly worried about my glasses and trying to use discord with it. Im assuming since its just streaming your desktop I could set my oculus mic as my discord mic via passthrough and it would work fine?

After seeing people were getting 30 dollar promotional credits for their delayed Elite straps, I decided to check my Oculus email account to see if I got anything for all my Facebook shenanigans. Turns out they sent me a 20 dollar credit yesterday.
I'm thinking about Walkabout Mini-golf. It's got some good buzz. Anyone own it?
I really like it. Super polished and interesting course designs.
I second this. Picked the game up earlier and it is awesome, definitely the best mini/crazy golf game at the moment, really nails the feeling of being in a themed mini golf resort. Multiplayer is fantastic fun.
I don't understand. I have the old link cable and have been using it, seems to work just fine for me, what's the problem? I plug the L-connector into the headset, facing the cable forward toward my computer. Is the problem that you orient your play area to have the computer behind you? Does it not work that way?I can't freaking believe Facebook made the old link cable a pain in the ass because they changed the orientation of the usb port, guess they want me to buy the new link cable, gonna need to buy some tape or something, super annoying how it falls right now.

I have a feeling Skyrim VR will end up on Quest natively :)I'm totally sucked back into playing Skyrim VR. Using Virtual Desktop means I can turn around as much as I want which really improves immersion and the mic passthrough means I can use the "Dragonborn Speaks Naturally" mod to for fast voice equipping of weapons/spells and talk directly with NPCs. Awesome.
I'm also using a bow for the first time (always been a mage before). My aim kinda sucks but the tracking with the controllers feels as good if not better than my original Rift.
Yeah I dove in the other day and it's been a real bad life decision, in the sense of me taking off my headset and going "Holy shit why is it dark out". Having a comfy chair in my roomscale that I can sit in and plug the headset into when I'm not in a dungeon is not something to do when you're on a time budget for the day.I'm totally sucked back into playing Skyrim VR. Use your actual Facebook account. It's not a problem for 99.9% of people. My Quest 2 should be arriving in a couple of days, any tips to avoid messing up and getting locked out of Facebook/my quest 2?
Depends on bitrate and codec. W/ h.264 i have to crank the bitrate and still see artifacts. HVEC gives a cleaner image at comparable bitrates, but tends to be higher latency. So I've been messing with VD for a little and is it normal for it to have artifacts even on a good connection? I just thought I saw people mentioning that it looked almost like Rift S quality if you have the settings right (5Ghz, 80Mhz channel width), and I think I have it set up correctly but it still looks like I'm watching a youtube stream. Also, there is very slight lag but noticeable when I play PC version of Pistol Whip.
I believe it's under experimental settings. Yep found it https://support.oculus.com/609948326077538/Am I missing something or does the quest 2 not have the double tap to enable pass through? I used that all the time on quest but it doesn't work on the quest 2 and I swear I looked through all the settings and can't find anything for it :-(
It really is. A lot of my local mini golf courses shutdown even before Covid, and it's been great finding and playing this game. I hope they make a sequel or add additional courses.Walkabout Minigolf is amazing. Might be the best bang for the buck!
