I think impeachment close to the election would benefit Dems. Show Trump's crimes on national TV- best free advertising you can get.

Just like with Mazars/Trump's taxes, it's all stalling tactics. But it's other purpose is that in the void of information, they fill it with disinformation.

That's their grand strategy. That's Trump's 12D chess. That's all it has ever been and all it ever will be.

My guess is that they want to push Dems to having to impeach for obstruction so that the Senate can more easily avoid voting to convict as they won't have to deal with spinning all the illegal shit the impeachment inquiry would uncover.

The timing of this is more interesting than the decision. They could've objected a week ago. Pulling the plug the morning of suggests the WH has figured out some of his answers would be really damaging.

Dude is one of those scummy grifters who bought his way in over the usual DC career guy who just sacrifices whatever morals he had (like Volker). So chances are high he knows a lot more damaging information than anyone they've deposed so far, which is a short list at this point but still...
