The article doesn't seem to mention the antisemitism involved either. If you pop over to 4chan or something, not only were they mad that he abandoned them when the coup fell apart, but they were mad about the Trump admin's concessions to Israel.

Oh man, imagine thinking Trump is your guy 🤣🤣🤣

And it took four years for them to figure out that Trump doesn't give a fuck about them.

This is the part where they look for a smarter fascist.

They don't care about anyone else. Trump was like a "lightning in the bottle" candidate for the Republicans/GOP, just like Obama was for Democrats/DNC. This won't happen again for the GOP.

Pretty much. Trump is over but these people aren't going away.

I think it'd be harder to find a specific person like Trump again though, he wasn't just fascist. There was a whole lot more about him that was very appealing to a wide, often male, audience. His whole decades long cultivation of a "NEVER LOST" persona and business image is something that a lot of people would struggle to create.

Except that wide male audience basically converted to fascism the last four years, so...

guess we will see

This was all clear from day one.
Trump has never been brave or patriotic.
And he never cared for a living soul.

The only figure in the US today that I could see replicating the Trump image is Elon Musk. He's constitutionally ineligible to be president though.

These private conversations surrounding Trump have been happening since 2015, though. There is nothing new about this. Because what has always been true is that a not insignificant number of people in right wing politics, and everyone high up in the alt-right conspiracy sphere, have known that Trump is a pissant who doesn't believe in anything but his own power and self-aggrandizement. Republicans and right-wing cultists don't evoke Trump because they believe in him; they use Trump because they know other people do.

So long as Trump functions as a right wing figurehead (and he still does, President or not), you will continue to see Republicans and right-wing charlatans use the image of Trump and the platitudes of Trumpism to corral their base while expressing concern and disappointment behind the scenes. And at this point the burden is on them to prove us wrong.

What I'm annoyed at is the NYT (and our predominantly white news media) falling for the okie-doke and publishing this same article over and over again.

Remember when racists and scum thought they were pretty edgy by using TRUMP as a clan name or tag in online gaming?

How do they feel about being represented by a weak-ass conman who pretty much told them to fuck off when he was done at the White House? Fucking hilarious.

Yea, they might have turned on him in an Annie Wilkes turning on Paul Sheldon way. But they'll be right back on their knees for him when he needs them.

Those people are constantly unhappy. Now that the God Emperor is a bigger loser than before they have a pretty big decision to make. Snap out of it and admit you were wrong those last four years or turn on the God Emperor and fuel your rage on the next POS on their list.

They're the most delusional people in the world. They had a loose idea of what Trump represented and performed as for them. With the reality of him bowing out, they have to have make some big stretches for their make believe revolution narrative. Fuck em

Please fight each other.

Delusional Trump supporters thinking there's still a master plan vs Disillusioned Trump Supporters thinking there was anything Trump could have done.

Profoundly stupid. Fucking pathetic they ever attached themselves to someone so obviously fragile and unprincipled just because he was known for constant racist bitching.

Hold up, a Cuban is leading the Proud Boys?

Don't doubt he's anything more than a figurehead, someone they can point to and say "See, our leader is Cuban! How can we be racist?" as they often do when people rightfully point out all the racist shit they do.
