Describing this "incident" as "sexual assault", given the full background, context, and aftermath, greatly cheapens and diminishes actual sexual assault. Full stop.
Mod warning was about 'unwanted physical contact', which seems reasonable but then again someone calling a porn star "hot" got a warning too for sexism.
Seems extreme moderation but in fairness it should apply both ways if the playing field should be leveled.
Edit: Didn't think either deserved the warning.
The age difference certainly doesn't help things in that scenario

Did she make out with him? No? Then he still had that first kiss moment. Heck, was he never kissed by his momma on lips when he was a kid or infant? First kiss and First romantic kiss should be different. Otherwise most of probably had our first kiss without even realizing it. But heck if that's how the kid wants to feel then he has the right to I guess.

Pretty much sums it up, feel sorry for him if his Mother never kissed him but the dude has gone public to say it's cool.
This story is about a young man who was uncomfortable being kissed. He would have said no if asked. How he feels after the fact does not change what happened.

Him saying it's cool and it being cool are not the same.
Justifying unwanted physical content seems pretty normal. He agreed with his friends that it didn't count.
He redefined kiss so that what she did didn't rob him of anything.
Bottom line, she shouldn't have done it, kissing people against their will/without permission isn't cool, and both individuals will probably be fine.
I don't for a minute disagree she shouldn't have done it, but there are comments saying sexual abuse when it what quite obviously was not.

Yeah I honestly don't know if an unwanted kiss qualifies under any definition. Im sure its the sort of thing that varies greatly state to state.
Even if it does I think people recognize it's a lesser offense on the spectrum. Me personally I hope she apologized and drew attention to making sure to get consent, because what you view as harmless might not seem the same to the other party involved.
I feel like in general people should err on the side of respect and restraint when they're thinking about surprising a stranger or slight acquaintance with physical contact, especially if it's flirty.

Poor kid, and I say this earnestly. Perry shouldn't have done that. And people making fun of him wanting his first kiss to be special should be ashamed too, attitude like that perpetuates the notion what men "should be" in order to become acceptable regardless of their choice.

This was clearly inappropriate and she should apologize to him, but other than an apology and a lesson for the future I don't think this merits any disciplinary action.
Also think if the genders were reversed AND all other variables were the same I don't think it would be worse. That means a hot younger male celeb, and the contestant already willing to kiss him on the cheek voluntarily a couple of times. People asking about "What if it was Donald Trump" are being ridiculous.

Oh I thought he was refrencing Katy Perry's unattractivnesss, but man power dynamics really suck, they forcee people to do stuff they do not want to out of fear.

But don't you only know something was reported when it leads to a ban? And doesn't that then mean the mods agreed and the report was justified?

Exactly. That's what makes the "oh please its nothing" comments seem ridiculous.
If it was one of the male judges sneaking a kiss like that to a woman, you can bet it would be on every major headline in the internet, the judge immediately fired and shamed for his behavior, and possibly career ending.
