If she wasn't wearing a mask why isn't she just offered a simple one and taught how to wear it?
In my country only people who actively refuse to wear one when told otherwise are escorted out, and even then usually people go by their own foot. No need for a stronger action most of the times from what I hear.

I always said the good thing about Trump is that it will bring all the racism out to the top. No more "well technicuhllluyyy' bullshit. But here we are and its just being ignored now, not even really debated. Just "welp, more tanning lotion Sharron.." The double standard is just, the standard now.

This isn't sustainable.

Truth is: Folks want it like this. They'll never say it openly but deep down the fact is mainstream America believes that Black people need to be treated with a "firm" hand. The fact that they don't get the same firmness is entirely irrelevant to them.

The fact that NYC is one of the most liberal places in the country and has a democrat mayor with black children yet the NYPD is still allowed to operate the way it does, shows how deeply white supremacy is entrenched in this country. I honestly don't know what it'd take to dismantle a system like that, because it's clear that voting isn't enough.

Racism is a foundational principal of this country, as its founding fathers owned slaves.

That's how deep white supremacy is entrenched in this country.

Agreed. Maybe if people got manhandled and whupped for not social distancing we would be done with this Covid! I know the NYPD is out there equally enforcing the rule keeping us all safe

Keep filming and doxxing these racist fuckers, America.
Make all of their lives the living hell they willfully make the lives of minorities on an everyday basis.

Take a look at the psychopath that was just elected president of the police union here in "communist" Chicago. He's a hardcore Trumper. He's had 50+ complaints filed against him. He got caught red-handed working a second job as security while on "medical leave" for a bad back. Fuck the police.

Why should the police be allowed to beat the shit out people for not wearing a mask?

because shes brown. Subhuman, not deserving of any cop treating her any other way. In front of her spawn too. That will learn her and send a message to the rest of them.

White people are not being treated this way by the same NYPD.

Your mistake was to think that liberals truly care about racism and stuff that doesn't affect their life's outside of the occasional twitter post. I'm sure a lot of people in NYC would consider themselves liberals but she's no tears at this because it's not affecting them, but let those parks with people sunbathing and lounging around be the center for police brutality and things would change

I mean, large metropolitan cities are some of the most starkly segregated places in the country but since they tend to vote Dem in large numbers, this seems to never come up.

DeBlasio just gave his response to this in the past minute, basically saying "people need to adhere to police instructions" and essentially "we don't always get it right". Oh, how I loath that sentiment.

And the video, they made the kid stand by and watch.
He aint opposing the police right now, he needs them more than they need him. One negative comment from him on the police and the police union will be all over him in the press talking about how brave they are and how they are risking their lives to protect the city and the people of the city and how the mayor is not supporting them......... Most politicians dont have the balls to go after the police when they do shit like this.

Yep, they are pure cowards.

Is it really? Hasn't NYC repeatedly elected tough on crime GOP mayors and then hailed them as heros?

Giuliani was an aberration. Bloomie only ran under the Republican ticket since it was an easier path. He was lifelong Dem before that and then ran independent his last term.

Democratic mayors still defer to the police in most major cities. Police are way too powerful politically.

Npr had a story about an actual good cop that was in opposition to quotas and said the areas and people that were ticketed or arrested focused on minorities. He got audio of all of this during the morning briefings before they hit the streets. Of course his complaints weren't popular and he went into detail of threats he'd received. The other cops even ordered him to let a bunch of them into his home which he got audio of that threat when they had entered. In the end nothing happened. I can't remember if he was fired or if he quit. He said he was still getting harassed though even after moving.

Anyway I say all that to point out you're right. Even in the rare instance a cop wants to speak up and do what's right theyre jjust seen as the nail that sticks out and get hammered down.

Oh here's the story from this American Life: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/414/right-to-remain-silent

This is exactly why you don't hear good cops speak out. They are bullied until they comply with the rest (or at least stay quiet) or quit out.

Meanwhile, this fuckboy is able to vandalize a subway car by dumping milk all over it (also
wearing a mask around his neck) and gets away scot free

Why in the fuck do they have the kid right there watching that?!

She's not a kid, she's a future criminal and maybe watching her mom get harassed will give her second thoughts about her natural inclinations toward crime and violence.

I live in Harlem and constantly see white people walking around without masks. This is so disgusting.

White people without masks are the ones driving the protests against staying at home.

And they get the benefit of the doubt, and the media talking about how hard it is to be home, the hardships, and all that bullshit.

If it were black people protesting, the response from the cops would be like this video.

You ain't lying that that's the thought process of so many. I mean if you're not going to stop the ridiculous overuse of force happening, at least have the decency to distract the kid. If not they might as well just lay them down next to their mom and say this is what you can expect in 3-90 years to happen to you too.

wtf man. what's the point of handcuffing someone and throwing htem to the ground, unless they're outright not listening and actively trying to get near people or something.

Meanwhile I went for a walk through the park yesterday in astoria, cops and park staff around, no one was bothering the giant groups of people with no masks on playing soccer and running around all over. Honestly to the pt that it made me uncomfortable to be in the park.

How is this supposed to be funny?
It's an awful attempt to be Eric Andre when

1. It entirely lacks the creativity of Andre's Fruit Loops segment

2. He does not have a TV crew behind him to clean everything

3. Andre didn't do his shit to essential workers during a fucking global pandemic

It's just 10 year old "haha I'm being a dick to people" humor. This kid was such a dick that Barstool of all places even called him out on it.

It's the same misunderstanding of humor that we see from MAGA people. And despite all this, he still gets ignored by the NYPD for one fundamental reason.

I see plenty of people not wearing their shit properly.

Yep. Problem is folks ignore that fact when black people get attacked by cops and just want to be all "law and order".

Either cops shouldn't be roughing people up for minor mask/social distancing violations or they should be roughing up white people the same way they do us. I'd rather the former but I'd settle for the latter cause it'll at least eventually lead to the former.

You would think Republicans would be up in arms about this, but they don't give a shit because it's about a black person.

People love Cuomo right now because he positively looks like the greatest thing since sliced bread compared to the Trump administration's response.

Also, you're 100% right. The NYPD, and other police forces, are out-of-control gangs and cannot be controlled by politicians. They govern themselves from the mob-like top down. I know several people in the NYPD and if you want to keep your job, you shut the fuck up and don't question one thing and do your job as you're told.

It's absolutely criminal that none of these organizations are governed by seemingly anyone but themselves.
That's an insanely low bar and Cuomo is shit and has been shit for a very long time. People continuing to praise Cuomo, who have no idea what he's done as governor outside of this pandemic (which he fumbled at the beginning also), need to stop talking and start listening.

We need a federal organization dedicated solely to auditing and holding accountable police departments, staffed entirely by non-police professionals (social workers, activists, former defense attorneys, etc.) Without that police will continue to terrorize and oppress minority groups.

Well yea, I agree with you on all accounts, just saying that's the reality of why people love the dude right now. It's not my personal opinion.
