Link.

Calls to New York City's Poison Control Center for exposure to certain household chemicals more than doubled after President Donald Trump suggested injecting disinfectant might be one way to combat COVID-19, the city said Saturday.

In the 18 hours after the president's suggestion during a Thursday night news conference, the city center got 30 exposure calls -- nine specifically about Lysol, 10 about bleach and 11 about other household cleaners.

In the same window last year, there were 13 cases -- two specifically about bleach and none of them about Lysol-related products.

None of the 30 exposure calls in the city resulted in death or hospitalization.

Good thing it was only sarcasm.

guys its in new york. there is a good chance those people were democratic voters.
Poison Control handles calls and information for the entire state, at least in NY. NY outside of NYC is VERY red, anything outside some areas of the capital region and NYC might as well be the south. Confederate flags and Maga signs/hats are very normal here.

Poison control calls have been up across the board since the pandemic started.

Sales of cleaning supplies, including Lysol and Clorox, have increased since the coronavirus pandemic began. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier this week that it's seen a significant jump in calls to poison control centers and accidental exposures to household cleaners and disinfectants.

Upstate Poison Control has also seen an increase in calls related to cleaning products during the pandemic, but not calls related specifically to the president's comments, according to an Upstate University Hospital spokesperson.

I'd be more interested in a comparison to the calls they got in the weeks preceding Trump's comment than a year ago. I mean, obviously there's going to be less calls in a non-pandemic month.

Realy doesnt matter who it is.

However, there are nearly three million Trump voters in the state, hundreds of thousands in the city, it's not that difficult to imagine the case load of people doing this because of the president probably involves a majority from that side given who trusts him and who tends to be more skeptical as a general rule.

Believe it or not, republicans exist in blue states/cities and democrats in red states/towns.
yup but their votes dont matter similar to how votes of democrats dont matter in red states.

on another note: strange that trump has not won in new york as he is a new yorker. normally you would get a bonus.

And this is why we don't vote morons into positions of authority, because it makes it positions of "authority."

Comparing it to last year isn't really helpful when poisoning cases like this have been up everywhere cause of the virus, need to compare it to the days/weeks before Dr.Trumps suggestion.

What parts of New York state are you talking about? I can't even remember the last time I saw a MAGA hat let alone a Confederate flag.
