Ok so the sizes for my 2070 are 23.2 x 4.2 x 12.7 cm, while according to Nvidia the 3070 is 24.2 x 11.2. Should fit nicely, if it isn't too thick. Seemingly fine since I have an extra 1cm in front of the card and it is stated to be 2-slot.

Else I will just buy a series 20 and yolo :3

I think ill stay with my 2080 super. DLSS is magic and lets me run with ray tracing at 1440p with little issue. just MORE GAMES NEED TO SUPPORT DLSS!!!!

Going from a 1080ti to a 3080 would be a pretty significant upgrade, right? If so, I need to know where to start F5ing and turning mobile notifications on for the 17th.

Hey all - I built a new PC this summer in anticipation for these new cards (i7 10700k, 32GB DDR4 3600, 1 TB NVME drive, 850w PSU). I'm currently using a Titan X (the 2016 version) that a friend loaned me until Ampere was released.

I game on an 120hz ultrawide, 3440 x 1440. Do you think a 3080 is the right move? I had kind of made my peace with buying a 3090 if it were in the $1200-1300 range, but at $1500 and seeing the price to performance ratio, it seems like the 3080 might be the best bet. Anyone have any thoughts?

From Digital Foundry's tests, and previous 1080ti vs 2080 results, it looks like ~75% - 80% bump, at 4k. I'm in the same boat. Seems like a pretty great upgrade.

urgh. wonder if a 650w is enough even though the recommendation is 750w for the 3080. I really dont wanna do all the cable management again and im not really all into overclocking. hmmm

Just waiting to see what the flooded used market price is for 2080ti's - can't be more than $400 unless these sell out completely. 2080ti owners got screwed on their resale.

So yeah, I think I'm gonna go with a 3080 in my new build.

No, because considering the large pricing gap the 3080 Ti is also likely to cost substantially higher than the 3080. Since it's closer to a 3090.

The 3080 is a huge upgrade for almost everyone.

Yeah, I've been warning people on here for several months to sell their Turing cards. Been telling people since March not to buy RTX 2000 cards too, if it's not necessary. Several people wanted to argue with me stating that the Turing cards were going to lose at least 40% of their value as soon as RTX 3000 was announced; it turns out it's going to be even more than that. I certainly don't feel bad for anyone who decided against selling theirs until today.
Yeah a lot of us have been saying to wait for a while now if people could, if they didn't... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wouldn't this be overkill for non-RT games if you target 1440p? Honest question, seems like this card is useful if you want to game at 4k.
Depends on frame rate and I'm sure there will be other settings to raise to hit a frame rate that the 2080 or 2080 Ti couldn't reach.

In for the 3090, I'm a dumb whale that hasn't done social stuff since March thanks to covid, so my wallet is full of dollars that wasn't spent on vacations, bars, movies or other stuff that involves me being around people.

My Valve Index will thank me for allowing it to finally spread its wings.

Decided to do a reset on my current build to make an entirely new one for this but, fuck now I'm getting extremely anxious over being able to actually sell my current PC.

Wish I just had a buyer lined up or something lol. I'm gonna absolutely hate going through the stress of trying to flog it. Especially now 2070 Super prices are going to Crash so incredibly hard :(

Does the 3070 support RTX IO? I'm not seeing a clear answer anywhere I look.

I'm prob going to build a new system and update from my 1080 to 3070. Maybe 3080 if it makes sense, but I wanted to not go crazy this time.

Wait they have already been up for sale? I thought it was the 17th?

Edit: Oh nevermind, they just say out of stock because the listings aren't even up yet.

£800 for a Strix... Man... I... That was the price I was expecting, but knowing the Ventus is 679 is so tempting. SO tempting.
Yep, same.
I was expecting £800 but now that I know I can get these other brands as well as FE for £650, I'm gonna nope out of this one. Max I'll go is £700 and I don't even see a reason to do that in the first place.

Get the £650 card and maybe if I feel like overclocking, I'll slap a water cooling block later. All these factory overclocked ver is just manufacturers trying to nickle and dime off sub brand name.

RTX IO is supported on GeForce RTX Turing and Ampere-architecture GPUs.
