Hang on a minute so are they saying that 2080 to 3080 in pure TF performance is nearly 3x?

I just got a bigger case in anticipation for the 3090.

I know I should go with the 3080, but.... I want the 3090 so bad.

So how can I sell a PC?

I just want to get rid of my Mini ITX bullshit thing and start over with something I actually thought about for a few seconds.

Well the 3070 will easily fit in my case but the 3080 might be pushing it. I'm sure I can make it work but I'm guessing it will be a tight fit without removing one of the drive bays.

So how do you typically purchase a GPU on launch day? The email notification will pop and then it's just dash to get one?

Now to wait for benchmarks.

I'm especially intrigued how the fancy memory on the 80 performs vs the regular memory on the 70.

They're adding up all the potential computational power from the RT and tensor cores there. It's technically correct (the best kind of correct), but won't translate to real-world performance, as you only use those special cores for specific tasks during rendering (which Nvidia showed itself in its presentation with its frame-time reduction graph)

Sticking to my 2070S for now, but those prices seem ... good?
Is it likely that there will be 3070/3080S in the future?

8GB has kind of been the standard for years. The 3080 "only" having 10 is a little weird, and the jump to 24 on the 3090 is just nuts lol.

Other than that, Nvidia sure knows how to make this stuff exciting to watch. Seems they're flying high on cloud 9. Really wish AMD could be competitive, then we would have a stew going. Like I'm not asking for some insane, only-the-crazies-will-buy 3090 equivalent, but at least something that will give the 3080 a run for its money.

Nice that's about what I expected for 3090. Now comes the question should I wait for AIB or not...

I am... so all over the 3080 for that price, goddamn.

Wish I knew what the requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 are going to be so I can plan ahead for the rest of my new system, lol.

I know I should just settle for a 3080 and it would be good enough for everything I need but damn that 3090 looks nice.

You've got more self control than me.

Also rocking a (just) under a year old 1660ti. Was all set to stick with it through 2022 but.. I was not expecting these prices to be as reasonable as they are. 3070 seems like a big increase for a great price.
Until my 9 year-old 1080 p display dies, I think I'm fine. No point in going extravagant for so little screen space, it's just overkill.

If I end up picking up a new screen and move into 1440 territory, then an upgrade might become more of a consideration.

Did they end up having a solution to accomodate for the less VRAM on some of these cards? I remember hearing some speculation about Tensor core compression but I don't really know what happened
