That's Nvidia math - they're probably adding up the theoretical potential of the tensor and RT cores.
These would be amazing prices, if the CAD wasn't so messed up these days.

There were rumours of 128 cores per SM instead of the usual 64 cores. A lot of leaks referred to just the SMs and people assumed it would be 64 cores per SM.
Well, the recommended PSU is 750 and I'm not sure if it would be wise for me to try and scrape by with a 9700k and the 3080.
I'm currently rocking the 2070 Super and have been very happy with this card, but I run into compromises trying to run new games at 4K. Is it worth me upgrading to the 3070 or 3080 knowing I could offset the cost by selling my current card?

I think the 2 times performance is with RT and DLSS and vs just the 2080. Thats what it implies on the product page.
Edit: actually borderlands 3 is without them on so yeh maybe in normal raster aswell, but its vs the 2080.

Those games don't require a 30xx series. Nothing coming next gen will require a 30xx. I fail to see how you made a bad investment to the point where you're calling yourself an idiot. By the time you begin to see games asking for this level of power these cards will be widely available for less money.

You are seeing RT performance. Everything in the show was with RT on. They have basically doubled RT performance vs previous gen which means that these readings should be taken with a very big grain of salt. Basically if you play games with RT and DLSS, you will enjoy a big performance boost. In games that do not have those it remains to be seen.
Basically a confirmation of eventual super and ti models with that sort of gap. Either that or Nvidia really was worried about what AMD has in the oven for the 3080 price tiers and below.

Also rocking a (just) under a year old 1660ti. Was all set to stick with it through 2022 but.. I was not expecting these prices to be as reasonable as they are. 3070 seems like a big increase for a great price.
Id go straight to 3080, the jump will be noticeable regardless but the price to perf on the 3080 is too good especially with the sale of your old card
