For what it's worth, AIB are usually the same price as FE or about $50 to $100 depending on the extra features/cooler. EVGA 3080 XC3, for example, should be around $699 while the FTW3 will likely be closer to $799. Sometimes the "base tier" AIB is even a little cheaper. Moving up to the Hybrid or Kingpin is going to add anywhere from $100 to $200 more though.

Of course, all heresy until leaks or official announcements haha. But hope that helps!
$50 to $100 was what I was used to, but based on the 2080 Ti cards that I used to watch, I've seen +$300.

Yeah the 3090 might see some hefty additional pricing for its Kingpin and other "high end" models. That OLED on the Gigabyte can't be cheap! 😂

Hopefully someone says something soon, or at least before release.

I am not sure how to proceed. I am still sitting with a I7 [email protected] and 16GB of DDR3. I am planning to go Zen3 since it makes no sense to get Zen2 at this point. I really want to be there day 1 for Cyberpunk and want to get a 3080 but not sure if the CPU bottleneck will be really bad or not. My plan would be to target playing on a 1440p/144hz GS monitor with everything maxed out with RT and bells and whistles. Is the CPU really going to hurt me here in the meantime while I wait? I can't imagine I am going to have much luck getting a Zen3+MB in time if they do in fact launch before CP.

So every graphics card that I have used has been AIB. This is the first time that I am contemplating getting a manufacturer card. What would I be missing out on if I go with the Nvidia card?

You best bet is get the 3080 and upgrade to Zen3 when it comes out. In the meantime, try OC the 4790K.

Generally, FE usually run higher temps > throttle > less performance and more noise. Since the 3000s use a different cooler design, it might be different.

Only thing I actually missed by going with FE 2080 Super was 0 RPM fans at idle. Supposedly the 3000 FEs support this though. Other than that, you'll just wanna keep in mind the Nvidia PCB this time around isn't reference. So if you wanted to water cool it later you'd have to wait for a block that supports it. AIBs can also have better coolers, but that comes at a premium.

Nvidia customer support also isn't the best, though I haven't dealt with them. And they void the warranty if you open the card for any reason. That alone is usually enough for people to stick with AIB partners. But I'm a sucker for the FE aesthetic haha

I'm really torn between upgrading my 1070 to a 3070 or a 3080. I feel like I'd have have to get a new PSU if I do, which adds to the cost. My current system is:

i7 6700k
16gb of DDR4 (2 8GB sticks)
ASUS 1070
1 Sata SSD
1 NVMe PCI-E SSD
2 1TB 7200rpm HDD in a raid 0
DVD drive
650w EVGA G2

I haven't found any real world gaming benchmarks that have given me reason to worry about my 4.8 6700k. If someone can prove me wrong please go ahead but I bet I'll still be sitting on this CPU until next year.

My roommate is good at delidding but seems like too much hassle to potentially hit 5ghz.

It's hard to tell unless we get benchmarks for Cyberpunk and see how CPU limited the game gets. But I'd get the 3080 anyway, even if the CPU is most likely going to bottleneck you for your high framerate target. You can still upgrade to Zen 3 once the CPUs are available and even with your old CPU, the game is not going to perform worse compared to your old card.

Hopefully it won't take 2 months for the 3rd party cards to finally appear in stock in the UK like with the 2080Ti, or is that just normal?

We're back to PSUs eh?

This power supply that might just cut it, not sure though.

Ahh I missed the PSU discussion this time. Will my 1600w be enough for a 1650 low profile + office pc?

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 SUPER/Ti could feature 4864 CUDA cores - VideoCardz.com

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or SUPER NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics cards series are now expected around November (possibly even sooner). We have heard that NVIDIA is planning two variants, based on GA106 and GA104 GPUs. The latter would likely adopt Ti or SUPER branding. Today Kopite7kimi, the leaker...

This is why I'm here!

With the $299 Xbox announcement, I now see quite possible that the 3060 is $349 or $299 even, with the Ti being 100 dollars more and the Super being 50 ($299 3060, $349 3060 Super, $399 3060 TI)

sounds like were literally in the same boat, might not be worth it since honestly performance difference in regards to pure fps especially when the 8600k is oced to 5.0ghz would basically be within 5-8fps of the 9900k if that from what I've seen. I do hear the frame times however are worse on the 8600k/9600k i5s and is noticeable when comparing however I can't say how much I notice them personally. Could be that I'm used to it or perhaps having a g-sync monitor makes it less noticeable.

Now with next gen on the rise I'm not sure how much this will change but something tells me even with this cpu for the most part we should be fine for at least another year or two but time will tell.

I just went from a 9600k to a 9900k because I couldn't be assed to update my mobo and found one on "cheap". Figured eventually I'd need the extra cores. If the i5's were hyperthreaded this wouldn't really be an issue down the line, but I think it will be, soon. Far Cry 5 is a prime example of an 8-core optimized game that hitches "a lot" on less. I don't think I'll need to upgrade it for 4-5 years, unless PCIe 4.0 is just a HUGE deal, which I suspect it won't really be.

Hmm. I'm starting to question going Day 1 with this purchase. Cyberpunk would be the only reason to upgrade and the rest of the year I'll probably going full on with WoW. Though ray tracing in WoW would be kind of neat to see if they fix it.

I would think I could stick it out for another year with a 1080. Maybe...........

I've got a 5820k running at 4.0 that I could probably get to 4.5 but I just never bothered (32gb of DDR4)

Still gonna go from 1070 to 3080 and then worry about a new CPU/mobo next year.

I'm just gonna plug that sucker into my SF600 and pray because lord knows I'm not spending triple markup on an OOS sff 750w PSU. Allah will give my little PC the power it needs.

im in the same boat. Bought an sf600 gold, couldn't find platinum during peak COVID. I'm hoping it does ok with a 3080 or 3070. Not stressing it, I can ride the 2060s until shot calms down.

I'm not the most knowledgeable about PSUs. I was looking for something within budget that would replace my Bronze 600w and the G5 was nearest available one.

What's exactly bad about it? weaker components? Can it sustain a 3080?
Yeah, weaker components. More noise on the rails and things like that.
It will probably sustain a 3080, remember that the 750w Nvidia recommends are when paired with an i9.

I have a pre-built PC that's a few years old now with a rtx 580, ryzen 5 2600 and an asustek prime b450-plus motherboard. It's starting to show its age and with the transition to next gen games i'm going to want to upgrade. Would i be okay upgrading to a 3070/3080 or would i need to upgrade my cpu and motherboard too?

I keep going back and forth as well. If there is even a hint of a 3080ti or Super I'm waiting and letting my 1080ti continue to crush most games I throw at it.

Maybe I'll just get a Switch instead but there's also that rumor of a new upgrade Switch next year Blehhhhhh. I hate reselling too but I suppose I could always try and sale a 3080 when/if a Super or TI is released, here on Era.

Lol! I'd hold out on the switch in the hopes they fix their damn joycons

I promised my son I'd build him a computer as soon as I replaced by 1080ti and would give it to him. So there is some added pressure of an 8 year old also asking when we are going to build his computer. If I told him it may be another 9 months, I may have to sleep with 1 eye open.

If you get the D15 chromax black edition it looks nice. Then for added bling you can add a heatsink cover if you want, and consider RGB fan covers - so you can keep the Noctua fans.
That's the exact cooler I was looking at until I realized it doesn't fit in the PC-O11 lol. I've got one of their lower profile coolers in my build now, can't remember which, but it doesn't have a chromax edition so I'm ordering an extra one of those to go with all the case fans I'm ordering.

To be honest, I'm not sure if a 2600 will cut it but certainly wait and see before upgrading your CPU. Unless your heart is really set on a new CPU like I was (I had a 3400G before), I recently bought a 3600 since they aren't too costly right now.

I can already see a much improved performance on my RX 570.

Same - although I was originally looking at a meshify C. Now going for a bigger case but I already went for a U12A. They will be doing a chromax version of that early next year so I'll wait and get the replacement fans then. I can live with beige for a few months

I have a SF600 as well. According to this power calculator, I should be fine. I'm also planning to undervolt to reduce temps, since my case is pretty small.

This one below is a A tier PSU. Thinking of getting this one.

Yeah, you should good. Has three PCI-E connectors. And two EPS 8-pins if you need more than that.
Also, remember to change all your cables.

So now people talkin' about two different 3060s already a 3070Ti with 16GB. Which of these do y'all think are coming this year?
