Really interested in seeing where the 3060 lands. $300 for 2070S-2080 performance seems too optimistic but it would be nice.

Ok, explain to a PC gaming layman: why would anyone pay 1500$ for a graphics card? Watched the DF video and the 700$ one looks like it gets on just fine

I have a question about DLSS that is kinda key in deciding which card to buy, if anyone would be so kind.

I have an LG B9 which only supports G-Sync in the range of 40-60fps on 4k resolution, and 40-120fps on 1440p. My question is, if I play a game in 1440p with DLSS reconstructing the image to 4k, what is my actual resolution in regards to the triggering of the G-Sync? Would I be able to play games in the 40-120fps sync range while the image is being reconstructed to 4k?

Some people have a ton of money that $1500 doesn't mean much to them. Others are just willing to spend their disposable income on having the best stuff. Yes, it's overkill for a lot of people. But if gaming is the main thing you do it's easy to justify luxury purchases.

just to say they have the best, also like the titan its ment more for workstation uses like viddeo editing ect.

Ah ok, I could imagine if its used at a workstation it would be great for Blender renders or something.

If you buy the 1500$ version, are you planning to use it for the next, like, 10 years? Or would you buy the next generation?

Hmm, I wonder how well the FE cooling solution will play with vertically mounting the GPU. Instead of pumping the hot air up to the CPU, you'd be blasting it against the side of the case.

Might be something I'd be interested in trying since the FE looks like it might fit under my big honkin' Noctua. But only if the temps don't get hurt too badly.

no dlss upscales gpu side, what your talking about is video bandwith to your monitor.

instead of selling my rtx 2080 for pennies on the dollar, can i do a SLI setup with this new GPU or do you need to have the same GPU to do SLI?

Ooh! I didnt notice that! Thanks very much. Where are you buying imported if I might ask?
Still want to upgrade my screen to something more juicy to actually run games on high with this - any suggestions there?

Either Amazon or B&H Photo. Priority shipping and import fees are pretty much identical between the two. I imported my EVGA 2080 Ti from B&H but went the ShopMate (AusPost) route, and I wish I hadn't. I assumed AusPost, being a government entity, would handle the customs side of things, but instead I was pawned off to a third party, so I had to pay a service fee on top of everything else. I still ended up saving a bit of money, though, so "glass half full" and all that.

Edit: I should clarify that by "fair chunk of change", I mean around $100. Needless to say, the unavoidable import tax shaves a lot off the savings.

Im probably gonna do it becuase I need a new pc anyways and am waiting for the 4000 series amd also. I am trying to future proof so I don't have to upgrade for years and the 3090 will do that more than the 3080 will so in the long run it will save me money.

For me personally, it's because the performance gain over the 3080 is worth it to me. I've said it in this thread a few times too, but it's all about the monitors now.

I want to run 5120x1440 at 240hz. For I need every bit of performance I can. The 3090 will be able to do that by itself. Monitors are a crazy world!

until the next titan equvlent. plus if your using it as a workstation card your likely hiting it prity hard. the people who buy those kind of cards replace their pc about every 24 months anyways.

From what I undestrand, some people might buy the 3090 for the deep learning/AI and productivity stuff.

Looks like for all the hype, PlayStation and Xbox are losing the next generation hype to Nvidia. Who would've predicted this a year ago? Wow.
It's definitely feels out of the norm, but PC gaming also skyrocketed in popularity the past 2 gens. More and more people recognize PC will always be at the forefront of gaming technology and with COVID affecting so many launch plans for both consoles it makes sense.

It's also why Xbox expanding to PC feels like such an important strategy for them. It helps keep a lot of people in their ecosystem even if they forego an Xbox console. I'm glad Sony is starting to recognize it as well and are looking into more ports.

It's strange to think that eventually consoles could just be an optional thing with every game being available across platforms day 1. It's a long ways away, but it's going to be great if it eventually arrives.

Same here. I have been waiting years and years for this generational improvement in RTX performance and saving for years and years too. I am going to be upgrading my 970 and I think it makes sense, in terms of future proofing to get the 3090.

$1500 can still be considered cheap if you aim to build a workstation that needs a lot of GPU compute, especially if the software you are dealing with doesn't scale well across multiple cards.

For gaming only the $1500 card is only for the ultra enthusiast crowd, but 24gb of VRAM with the monster speeds that card has can be compelling for professional users whose workflow doesn't benefit a lot for going with something like a Quadro card.

its also china/eastern ueurope have largly rejected consoles too, so even sony is starting to relize they need to port to pc.

I'd honestly sell it for whatever you can get and start from scratch with a Ryzen/B550 build

Old indeed, I'm not sure I could recommend a 3080 in that PC.

Upgrade the mobo and CPU to Ryzen 3rd gen, get at least 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3000MHz and get at least a 650 W PSU.

thats been the weird thing, alot of people buying gaming cards when building their "home office pc"

Really makes you wonder what they could be doing in their home office with a gaming card, huh?
