Ok. That's weird. Almost like Sony and MS with their secrets.

They have some reveal event tomorrow and they did show design officially today.

I would expect full spec sheets and availability info by end of the week.

Won't go with an AIB this time around. The FE will do. How much do you think I could get for an Strix 1080ti, do you know?

Not sure.

Lets put it this way, if I can get 400€ for my 2080Ti I'm VERY surprised.

Before someone comes at me with "loltopkek should have sold weeks ago" meta bullshit, don't. I expected hard value crash and I'm fine with it.

Have any 275mm length (or less) 3080s been announced from AIBs at all? Needs to fit in my H200...

I'm going from a 1060, and yeah, I'm gonna build a new one, but I'm overdue already. I'm with an I7 4770, the plan is going R5 3600 or 4600 if they announce it before november

If you're worried about console ports, I'd bump to the 8/16 range if I were you. These new consoles are going to have nice CPUs this time around, so they'll be no brute forcing your way through.

The time to upgrade from my GTX 970 has finally come. Now I just need to figure out whether I want to save up for the GTX 3080 or 3070. Doubt I'll be able to get a card at launch, but I've waited years already, a few months is nothing.

Hmm, I figured my EVGA G2 650w would be fine for a 3080—I imagine I'd be fine wattage-wise, but looks like the AIB 3080s are mostly going with 3x8 power connections? I think my PSU supports it but I'd need an additional cable on top of what was included.

(Edit: I think I'll be fine, actually—looks like I have 2 6-pin + 8 (6 + 2)-pin cables, so that should be able to drive 3 8-pins.)

For those of you saying you're upgrading from your 970/980 (Ti)/1070/1080 (Ti)....are you building a new PC as well?

I have a 6700k and a 1070, but I'm not sure I want to buy a 3080 and pair it with my 6700k. I'm kind of inclined to just wait until Rocket Lake and Zen 3 are out and then put together a new build around December.

I'm still thinking about it, but I'll probably get a 3080 and pair it with my 6700k for now, and see how that goes. That'll be with the understanding that it won't be an ideal long-term pairing and that I'm likely to upgrade the rest of the system in the next year or so.

Well seems I will just sit the 3k family out and buy a new card when the 4k comes out.
My seahawk rtx 2080 ti should last that long at 1440p with gsync I recon.

So I fired up my HTPC (where the 3080 would go) that is hooked up to a Cyberpower UPS to see what it was telling me wattage wise. I kept the AV receiver turned off, but the TV itself (LG C9) is still included in the wattage reading out of the UPS.

On my system:
SF600 PSU
6700k
16GB DDR3
GTX980

Running Heaven at 2560x1440 at highest settings for everything I saw jumps to 480W.
Running the FFXIV:Shadowbringers Benchmark I was seeing jumps 550W with one ping at 580W.

All of these have the TV included, and looking online that looks to maybe be, conservatively, about 150W to take off of those numbers to get to just the PC

So Worst Case 580W - 150W (TV) - 165W (GTX980 rated wattage) = 265W for the PC minus the GPU.

The 3080 is rated in the specs to 320W, so 265W + 320W = 585W

So seems I MIGHT have headroom with the SF600 PSU and the 6700k, with a potential AMD upgrade netting a few more watts off the top, but it seems like it may be on the hairy edge if the current specification isn't a worst-case number.
is your cpu running at 2volts or something? thats way too much for "the rest"

If you are opting for a 3090 I would suggest a support bracket. These cards are going to be heavy as shit and I expect them to sag like crazy.

I purchased a very basic (almost non visible) support bracket for my 2080Ti FTW3 and it made a very nice difference visually.

But how do these work when everything is covered in fans?

Is the 3070 dual slot or still almost triple like the others? I have to fit it in my SG13 lol.
it looks like the FE 3070 is dual slot but the actual card looks to be just a tad bigger. but why in the fucking world did they put the 12pin IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING CARD? WWWWWHAT?!

not a fan of EVGAs take on the 30 series. quite the departure from their pervious looks of 20 and 10 series cards.

Nah, I'm going to rock my 6700K for a bit longer, and probably bump up my OC a bit. Even if I bottleneck the new cards some, it will still be an immense upgrade over my 970. I'll probably build a completely new rig in a year or two.

Man, I am so happy to be doing this upgrade. I have a 1070 mini and upgrading to the 3080 is gonna be a big leap forward. I cannot wait!
Also just got a new mobo, cpu and ram sticks so its gonna be noticeable from my old build.

Yeah, you're right. I'll have to save some more and go for the 8/16. Worst case scenario a 3700x after the 4700x announcement/launch

i5 6600k and a 1070. Will rebuild once AMD announces their new CPUs, but otherwise I don't see a rush. As someone else said, it will likely bottleneck a bit, but still be an improvement.

Going to try my best to get an EVGA 3080 card as I have been happy with their cards for a long time. Not sure what the difference between the FTW3 and XC3 versions are, but I guess I got time to figure it out.
