Is the 3070 dual slot or still almost triple like the others? I have to fit it in my SG13 lol.
Eh the 5700XT is on par with a 2070Super, and the 3080 is about 3 times faster than that... (30Tflops vs 9Tflops)
Oh damn, well then, goodbye Zotac.
I can't believe it, but for the first time, EVGA has failed me. That RGB over-design, I can't. The RTX 3080 FE is too strong, I might have to bend to its will.
Are we sure? Because if the FE 3080 is 719€, I am buying it 100%
It's not. Ampere TFLOPS are much weaker than Turing ones. But less that 50% so it's a neat gain in the end. What benchmarks are you using to claim the 3080 is 3X faster than a 2070S? I havent seen any.
Ugh I bought/built a 2080S system in January and new graphics intensive games haven't even COME OUT for me to push it and now there's a 3080....I'm feeling some type of way right now
Ok. That's weird. Almost like Sony and MS with their secrets.
Overclock your CPU and make sure your RAM is running at 3000mhz or higher and you'll be able to get good mileage out of the 3070 for a couple years at least.
It's time for a new build.
I mean it'll work, but budget for a full upgrade soon if you get a 3070/3080. You'll be bottlenecking if you don't.
Won't go with an AIB this time around. The FE will do. How much do you think I could get for an Strix 1080ti, do you know?Founder card might land around that, but AIBs like EVGA or ASUS most likely start at 1700 € for us.
3070, heck even the 3060 that comes later will handle it.Given that I have a 1080p monitor and have no intentions of upgrading to 4k right now, should I go with the 3080 or will the 3070 be plenty?

Obviously we need benchmarks but we know two things. It's not. Ampere TFLOPS are much weaker than Turing ones. But less that 50% so it's a neat gain in the end.

you'll be fineCan anyone tell me if my R5 3600 will bottleneck a RTX 3080 badly?
Agreed. Is there a huge difference between the FTW3 and XC3 cards?Maaan why does the FT3 have to have all the RGB shit.
I just want a basic black card.
System performance is impacted by many factors and the impact varies between applications. The impact is typically less than a few percent going from a x16 PCIE 4.0 to x16 PCIE 3.0. CPU selection often has a larger impact on performance. We look forward to new platforms that can fully take advantage of Gen4 capabilities for potential performance increases.
Can't you just turn it off? If not the Asus cards look pretty plainMaaan why does the FT3 have to have all the RGB shit.

Those of us with 2080Ti have a bit of a tough choice. 3080 doens't seem worth it, but 3090 is double the cost of 3080.
Thank you, honestly I feel better than we don't have pre-orders this time. Even though I am good at securing them heheThere are no pre-orders for the FE. Which means when it goes on sale, it's their direct stock.
For those of you saying you're upgrading from your 970/980 (Ti)/1070/1080 (Ti)....are you building a new PC as well?
I have a 6700k and a 1070, but I'm not sure I want to buy a 3080 and pair it with my 6700k. I'm kind of inclined to just wait until Rocket Lake and Zen 3 are out and then put together a new build around December.

There are 1440p 240hz IPS panels that will be released shortly. Also you have the new LG 4k 144hz IPS panel just released. A lot of options. Obviously if you play competitive shooters then the new Asus 360hz panel is more down your alley.Anyone have a monitor recommendation to pair up with the 3080?
