I can't believe it, but for the first time, EVGA has failed me. That RGB over-design, I can't. The RTX 3080 FE is too strong, I might have to bend to its will.
What benchmarks are you using to claim the 3080 is 3X faster than a 2070S? I havent seen any.
Those of us with 2080Ti have a bit of a tough choice. 3080 doens't seem worth it, but 3090 is double the cost of 3080.
For those of you saying you're upgrading from your 970/980 (Ti)/1070/1080 (Ti)....are you building a new PC as well?
I have a 6700k and a 1070, but I'm not sure I want to buy a 3080 and pair it with my 6700k. I'm kind of inclined to just wait until Rocket Lake and Zen 3 are out and then put together a new build around December.

yea i don't mind rgb components but it looks like a childish design
FE looks elegant
Founder card might land around that, but AIBs like EVGA or ASUS most likely start at 1700 € for us.
Well, the Gaming X Trio card it is then, im a sucker for these cards.
It's not. Ampere TFLOPS are much weaker than Turing ones. But less that 50% so it's a neat gain in the end.
This is why I always try to buy within the first year the new cards come out. I'll probably get a 3080 depending on benchmarks and sell my 2080 to my friend for $350 lol.

This is my plan, though I've always been running the CPU at 4.8ghz. I figure DDR5 will be around when I start looking at upgrades.
My big problem is my monitor is from 2011, it's so old it needs DVI to do 120hz. Looking to grab a 144hz 1440p replacement but g-sync seems to be out of my reach.

I guess the question for me is: Will the FE cooler on the 3080 be good enough? The new design is pretty interesting, and it looks like Nvidia is taking cooling more seriously with this series.
Yeah thats what I figured tbh. I've been prepping to start again anyway and the prices of these are certainly making that easier.
Won't go with an AIB this time around. The FE will do. How much do you think I could get for an Strix 1080ti, do you know?

This is probably so dumb, but how can I ensure that I have the right pin connectors and power supply to upgrade my desktop from a GTX 1080 to a 3080? I never even thought about connectors in the past because I just assumed that everything would be interchangeable (that's how clueless I am).
Obviously we need benchmarks but we know two things.
They said 3070 is faster than 2080 Ti.
We also see that 3080 is 50% faster than 3070.
So I am expecting at least 50% faster than 2080 Ti for $700

There are no pre-orders for the FE. Which means when it goes on sale, it's their direct stock.

I'm going 3090 to replace my 2080 Ti. Yes the cost is really high, but I'm going to be playing on a LG OLED with HDMI 2.1 so I am looking to crank out as much performance as I can at 4K with RT and all that stuff.
I'll just sit here and wait for the inevitable 3080Ti that will come next year for 999€ or whatever. The performance increase from my 2080Ti to 3080 is not good enough to warrant me spending around 500€ after selling my card and it's not like I really need that performance right now. All I play is Apex at the moment. :P

You can get a pre-order cancelled and it happens when you think you have more than you really do. Direct stock has an actual internal limit.
There are 1440p 240hz IPS panels that will be released shortly. Also you have the new LG 4k 144hz IPS panel just released. A lot of options. Obviously if you play competitive shooters then the new Asus 360hz panel is more down your alley.
