According to HUB
21% faster than 2080 Ti on average at 1440p
31% at 4k

So yeah definitely CPU limited in many titles at 1440p and the delta between the two cards should grow larger with time and next gen games

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition Review - Must-Have for 4K Gamers

NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3080 "Ampere" Founders Edition is a truly impressive graphics card. It not only looks fantastic, performance is also better than even the RTX 2080 Ti. In our RTX 3080 Founders Edition review, we're also taking a close look at the new cooler, which runs quietly without...

TPU benches are most indicative as they have the highest number of titles in the bench suite.

Yeah, just going to wait for the 3070, don't think the 3080 is worth the 200$ more if I am just playing at 1440p.

Even more, at least for me, is the power numbers. I feel like once you cross 200 watts, you literally start feeling the heat's impact. Those numbers, for me, don't justify the large power increase that the 3080 uses. If 3070 truly does match 2080ti, that's my card.

Can't tell if Era's being a bit overly negative or if the card actually is underwhelming. I've currently got a 4k 120hz tv and my current pc can't even run the games I want a 1080p 60. I was planning to get the 3080 for my new pc build, is it looking like a good card for 4k 60 on demanding titles and 4k 120 on much less demanding titles?

4k is a waste, happily, stick with 1440p for the foreseeable.

Hell, even 1800p is fine.

Ah nice, don't have to benchmark my 2080 Ti myself in my current favorite "punishing" game. Getting roughly always at least 60 fps is nice but not sure if the performance increase is otherwise all that worth it to current overclocked 2080 Ti owners. I am in no hurry to swap my GPU so might wait for a "3080 Super/Ti".

For the record my Palit Gaming Pro 2080 Ti with the settings I use (which are probably higher than used here) gets me an average framerate around 60-65 fps with occasional drops under depending on the area. 1900-1950 MHz boost clocks.

Looks awesome, but I'm not convinced to sell my 2080ti yet. I want a bigger jump. Bring on the 3080ti, I'm convinced it's coming based on amd rumors and that $800 Gap between the 3080 and 3090

Looking at the reviews, I think it is a great card for 4K - 60FPS and 1440p - 144FPS.

22% improvement in 1440p in a card that is hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Ti is good imo.

Especially again when the 3080 isn't really the gen on gen upgrade from Ti, it's the 3090. It's going to be interesting to see how that perform vs 2080 Ti.

Pretty much. People is getting a 20 to 35% MORE for 50% LESS money, that huge. Imagine if they announce the 3080Ti in a few months, it's gonna be a higher jump even.

If you have a 2080ti and were looking for reasons to burn money, bad luck, you don't need and can use that money for something more important. If you were on a 2080 or less, rejoice.

Yeah, that's the key. It is a tremendous value compared to the Turing line, which was a bad joke from a price-performance standpoint.

Weirdly, outside of the insane 24GB of video memory the 3090 doesn't look that much better than the 3080. Certainly not enough to justify spending twice as much for it...

Doesn't have a lot of overclocking headroom and also performance drops with the OC according to Nexus?

So basically, very small OC on the core and realistically for most people about 500/600+ on the mem if you don't want to be throttled.

Will be interesting to see what a custom bios can do.

For me the big takeaway is that the 3080 is the biggest generational leap of all time. It's a tremendous value proposition to boot.

I think for 2080/2080ti owners, it's definitely underwhelming because it isn't as powerful as expected, and NVIDIA used some misleading advertising in those cases. But, it is a good card for 4k, it has diminishing returns for 1440 and 1080

Looks real nice for me though coming from the 1070 though

So I game in 1080p, I have a 970 now. I'm thinking of getting the 3080 because this will be more future proof and will last me 4/5 years, while the 3070 will start showing it's age earlier. Do peoplesagree it's better to get the 3080 for future proof reasons?

The 3080 is 31% faster. Man, people suck at percentages so much. It's pretty basic math they teach everywhere, right?

anyone cover CPU scaling well ? I wanna know how if my 1600AF/2600 will bottle neck much until I can get Zen 3 Next year. I will be playing at 4K so no 1080 High Frame rates required.

So having skimmed through a number of reviews performance is about what I expected (I do think my expectations were perhaps a bit lower than most though).

Sound like a super solid card if you have a 4K monitor or if you are upgrading from a 10-series card. For my use purposes I am not interested, great to see how the tech is progressing though & good luck to everyone after one.

I mean, Nvidia promotional launch material is always beyond worthless. At this point, I don't even get mad about any of it. Because my expectations have been trained and I just ignore it all.

They usually overstate things. But from 90% to a mere 17% improvement? That's not even close.

What are the reports on the founders edition? Worth it to get that one over waiting for other versions?

It's a jump but the absurd claims of 2x 2080 performance was over the top from nvidia. Now I'm doubting if 3070 has higher performance than 2080ti.
