So real world reviews are not showing the purported 50% leap over the RTX 2080 Ti, at least without RTX.
Mind you, if you have a monster CPU drawing a ton of power and a kinda weak 650w PSU, you will likely run into trouble. This thing can draw upwards of 380w during benchmarks.
Yes, fans stop at idle and don't spin up until at 63 degrees (mentioned in the Finnish article linked above)
Hardwareluxx.de says the CPU cooler gets 3°C warmer compared to a 2080 Ti but the 3080 is also just generating more heat so that is likely the bigger factor.

Are these 'dont buy if you're not 4K' reviewers taking into account 165hz screens?
This thing runs RDRII at 72fps average in 1440, sounds about ideal for that.
Does seem utterly wasted on stuff like Doom Eternal tho.
Yeah I don't get the complaint about if your not in 4K you have no need for an upgrade, I'm on a 1070 and I'm like WHAT offc is worth it :D
Hmmm... so something like 20% performance gain over the 2080ti on average, correct? Don't know if I'm going to upgrade then ...
Any word on whether the FE fan setup is going to be problematic for air cooled CPUs? Hoping some reviews touch on this, but am not able to watch them today.

Are they not gonna be faster?Heh, I hope people didn't really sell 2080 TI's because they thought 3070's would be faster.
Everyone will see a huge benefit once next gen games will arrive on PC.So, regular 1440p seems to be a negligible area for those wanting to upgrade, but since 3440x1440 is pretty much close in processing power as 4K, I'm assuming those of us using Ultrawide will see a huge benefit?
So what's the general consensus I'll be getting going from a 1080ti to the 3080?
No dates from nvidia. Release day currently. 24.9.

The card is severely CPU limited right now in everything below 4K.
Wowzers!Seems to be roughly double the performance in both 1440p and 4k.
Hardware Unboxed found only 22% improvement from a 2080 Ti @ 1440p, which is woefully short of the expectations set by Digital Foundry's underhanded and cherry pickeded benches.
It's always worth it if you want higher framerates.Yeah, just going to wait for the 3070, don't think the 3080 is worth the 200$ more if I am just playing at 1440p.
The margins drop off a cliff when you overclock the 3080 and the 2080TI. As predicted.
The 3080 doesnt have much power headroom, but the 2080TI did, which allows it to close the gap.
But that's FE vs AIB. So... let's wait for some AIB reviews I guess.
Doesn't look like i need to replace my EVGA XC Ultra 2080 Super for another 2-3 years. Cool, now i just need ryzen 3
