If they announce a new desktop gpu I wonder if they would adress the shortages or just ignore them. They basically would know that they release something most people wont be able to purchase.

I would like to buy a 3080Ti but I don't understand how one does that, mechanically.

Is it literally:

1 - Nvidia announces product
2 - Product appears on retailer websites immediately
3 - You have maybe 10 minutes to buy the product, before it effectively goes out of stock permanently

? Is that how this all works now?

Except the 10 Minutes are closer to 10 seconds...

My prediction: a new card, which is actually available this time, but costs £1999

Whoever was in charge of the 3060 lineup should be ashamed of themselves if the rumoured specs for the 3060 12GB is true. How can you have a card that's got more ram than the ti model but less cores and a higher price tag.

That's not what MSRP means

It doesn't matter who makes it it matters where its manufactured. Unless the tariff issue is sorted I doubt Nvidia will eat that cost. It will be passed on to us. Most 3080s are closer to $1k msrp now as is. You guys are dreaming. I don't think anything will even be shown let alone priced ti wise. This should just be mobile. Maybe just an announcement for later in the year.

I'm dreaming? I said earlier I'm just waiting for 3060ti prices to come back down lol

Nvidia spent nearly a decade building x80Ti brand. Nvidia knows what people expect from this top of the line card that sits just below halo Titan product. Customers know what they want from these cards. Making unfounded, uneducated claims that 3080Ti will be just 3080 with 20GB VRAM is absurd. If there was such a card it would just be called 3080 20GB.
3090 isn't a Titan and nobody promised you anything about the "x80Ti" "brand" positioning. Also there is no such "brand", it's just a model name.

3080Ti is released soon and is pretty much on par with 3090 (as per rumors). $999 for FE, a bit more for AIB cards.
It will be as "pretty much on par with 3090" as 3080 is right now.

3080Ti doesn't happen and Nvidia simply release 3080 SUPER refresh card that is better than 3090 at the end of summer.
The two options aren't mutually exclusive. Maybe you should wait till the refresh then.

Although apparently this product event is only for laptop GPUs so this is getting a bit offtopic.
Yeah, 3080Ti is likely a March or so product.

I always wait to buy graphics cards and other computer components when the prices are at their lowest. I leave FOMO panic buying to others. This is unusual situation though, as I've always been able to buy GPU about 4 months after launch at good price. I guess this time I'll need to wait maybe 6 months in total to buy 3080 or 3080Ti at MSRP.

All of my friends who wanted a 3080 got one simply by ordering and waiting in a queue. It took 1-1.5 months but they weren't among the first ones to order anyway. So you need to be either lucky or patient I guess.

I just hope the 3080 Ti gets revealed and released within my 90 day step up timeframe with EVGA. If its only a couple hundred more than my 3080 then I may as well upgrade.

of all games, this is one that doesn't really benefit from it. I guess if you want to hit 300fps on a 2060?
It's a weird choice of a showcase for sure.
Feels like they are running out of options on what game to use for promotion.
Hopefully The Medium will be there too, this one should at least need DLSS for performance reasons.

Hoping they announce the 40- series tomorrow.
And 50 series too alongside it.

I wonder if Nvidia is actually doing well targeting these tween games like Nintendo. Seems like a disproportionate investment in a market sector they probably can't capture.

What's an investment in this case though? Nv doesn't pay any money to game devs, they provide tech and dev support and it doesn't matter much for them whom that support is given to when it's otherwise free from other projects.

So we are back to the pre-Pascal days, where mobile chips are completely different than the desktop variants.
Yup. This just leaked. Mobile 3080 and 3070 are significantly slower than full fat desktop versions. I mean, it's fine, as long as laptop stickers and device manager say it's castrated "mobile" version, so people don't expect full desktop experience like they got with pascal.

So $300 for FE then. NV would be putting some serious pricing pressure on AMD if not for the realities of current market situation.

$330 MSRP is pretty good if I can get at least 2070 super performance. Now I really hope I can get it for less than $400 in my country...

$300 for 3060? I wonder how it performs relative to the 3060Ti

Not that it matters without stock.
