The first two pictures that appeared in a video teaser shows a gaming laptop and GeForce RTX discrete graphics card in a mobile form factor. It appears to be attached to Intel CPU with 8 (PCIe?) lanes. The exact GPU model appears to be GA104, which is rumored for RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 mobile series. Both cards will feature 8GB GDDR6 memory (hence 8 modules), however, the RTX 3080 Mobile will also be available with 16GB capacity.
The teaser also briefly shows an upcoming game called Outriders (picture on the right below) developed by People Can Fly. The game will be released on April 1st, but a free demo will be released on February 25th. The teaser may indicate that the game will feature NVIDIA technology.
The picture on the left appears to show the GeForce RTX logo, which kind of looks like a side of a desktop reference Ampere graphics card. It is speculated that the RTX 3060 12GB might be shown at the event, so this could be a teaser of a Founders Edition card.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX: Game On is an upcoming event that will go live on January 12 at 9 AM PST. It will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube.
Not at all. Switch is using a mobile Tegra SoC. Laptop GPUs that will be shown here are basically tweaked desktop parts for lower power consumption and lower heat output.
Doesn't sound like we will get them at this conference.Cool for people who are into gaming laptops. All I really care about is official 3080Ti details.
There's an image which hint at a driver with RBAR support releasing alongside the presentation.I hope that they will show more software this time. New version of DLSS or improved Nvidia Ansel or something like that.

There is a MASSIVE price gap between the 3080 and the 3090 so of course they can slot a new price bracket there.3080 Ti? Where does that even fit in with the current product lineup?
Midway between a 3080 and 3090?

The 3090 will continue to sell to the same public it sells to today: people who have fuck you money and don't give a crap and just want the very best GPU on the planet even if the difference is tiny and the price difference is massive
Have they ever released this many different models?
Look at me saying "released" when they barely manufacture enough to meet demand.
Unfortunately, Nvidia refreshed the MX line recently with non-rtx turing. So no Ampere for switch class laptop gpus

Are you guys expecting the 3080 TI, super or whatever, to cost more than $999?
shit's gonna cost $1500 nowAre you guys expecting the 3080 TI, super or whatever, to cost more than $999?
not yet, they've all been leaking thoughAre laptop variations of RTX 30 cards publicly revealed yet?
A leaked latop featuring Ryzen 5900H CPU (Zen 3) and RTX 30 from two days ago: https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-R...4900HS-and-Intel-Core-i7-10875H.513882.0.html

Turing variants were close, but this time around they seem to be very different. Leaks suggest different amount of cuda cores, not just different clocks. May be they are different chips entirely that just get the same name for marketing reasons. How much weaker are mobile chips compared to their equivalently named desktop versions, anyway?
3080Ti will basically be a 3080 with 20GBs of VRAM. There are those weird people who will pay $1200 for that apparently. But the price gap is much larger than the performance gap. 3090 has a ~15% performance advantage with a 115% increase in price.
There's a lot of room there in terms of pricing for additional cards, but not so much for performance. 3080 Ti would maybe occupy the $999 price point? That would still be 40% more expensive than the 3080 for maybe 8-10% better performance. It becomes hard to justify.
Unless the 3080 Ti/Super just replaces the 3080 at $699.
Wouldn't the 3080Ti probably be like 1199 now with the tariffs increasing GPU prices recently? But the price gap is much larger than the performance gap. 3090 has a ~15% performance advantage with a 115% increase in price.

RTX 3080 Mobile is allegedly a full GA104 with more CUDA cores than the RTX 3070.How much weaker are mobile chips compared to their equivalently named desktop versions, anyway?
Well, 780 was the last "x80" card based on the top die of the lineup so there's that.So we are back to the pre-Pascal days, where mobile chips are completely different than the desktop variants.
Stop spreading FUD about 3080Ti. It will be near identical performance to 3090, which means up to 25% better framerates in demanding 4K gaming.3080Ti will basically be a 3080 with 20GBs of VRAM. There are those weird people who will pay $1200 for that apparently.
FUD here is "up to 25% better framerates" since the actual average figure is 115% for 3090 which means that it will likely be about 110% for 3080Ti at best.Stop spreading FUD about 3080Ti. It will be near identical performance to 3090, which means up to 25% better framerates in demanding 4K gaming.
I'm not "baiting" anyone, I'm saying what I think. Funny that you see that as a bait. And it's funny you keep baiting people who are waiting for 3080Ti
I've bought a 3080 Strix OC for a price which is highly likely to remain so locally for at least a year from now.when you bought your 3080 at the worst possible time at scalper prices
3080 Ti price will likely be about 50% higher than what I've bought my 3080 for.
Yeah, 3080Ti FE will probably be nearly identical to my 3080 Strix OC in gaming performance.now you are playing down 3080Ti in your mind that it's going to be identical to 3080
Yes, there is.when there is no realistic scenario of that ever becoming true
Those who wait for the next generation of GPUs (not refresh) while having what is the best price/perf product in its market niche. Which is 3080 at the moment - and it will most likely remain so after 3080Ti launch.

I sense some buyers remorse going on and constant need for affirmation. Good things comes to those who wait, always. It's especially true in computer word.
Yeah, I could see (but still disagree with) the usual VRAM FUD, but even in the best case scenario, the 3090 really isn't that much of an improvment over the 3080 in terms of computational power. Like the only game that it actually makes a real difference is cyberpunk, because the 3080 is just a bit on the wrong margin of being playable thereA cursory glance at some YT videos comparing 3080 and 3090 performance at 4K shows about a 10% difference on average. Even if the 3080 Ti ends up performing identically to the 3090, the 3080 would still clearly be the point where spending any more makes very little sense unless you need more VRAM for non-gaming tasks.
I understand the "why" of it, yes.Well, 780 was the last "x80" card based on the top die of the lineup so there's that.
980 was GM204, 1080 was GP104, 2080 was TU104 and 3080 is GA102 now again.
GA102 isn't a good fit for a notebook as its power consumption is quite a bit higher than what is possible in the mobile form factor. Just like TU102 and GP102 previously.
Nvidia spent nearly a decade building x80Ti brand. Nvidia knows what people expect from this top of the line card that sits just below halo Titan product. Customers know what they want from these cards. Making unfounded, uneducated claims that 3080Ti will be just 3080 with 20GB VRAM is absurd. If there was such a card it would just be called 3080 20GB.
WIth the way tariffs are right now, the $1k dream is dead. Some normal 3080 SKUs are already reaching that price point
When will this tariff thing kick in?I've been waiting to see what a 20GB 3080 Ti will do but with the tariffs I don't see myself buying anything until that's all resolved.
Nope.
Like last week.
That's not what MSRP meansThe 3090 is like $2k msrp now so they could just slot the ti in the $1500 bracket.
It will be $1.000 MSRP. But you won't find it anywhere for less than $1.500, if you find it. Hard to be excited for this event really.
