Top 10 best selling titles (Year to Date 2019)
- Kingdom Hearts III
But it didn't do well. 1 million copies of this game is horrible.
Mass Effect 3 was released in early march and had almost 3 more weeks to sell during the month than Anthem. The launches aren't that comparable.
Super Smash Bro
Imagine if Jump Force was an actual good game. It could rival or beat Smash sales numbers.
Yeah I'm so puzzled by that as well.
Game is mediocre, look mediocre, had awful review scores and yet this happened.
Hopefully Bamco won't think theWestUSA love this.
Anthem had 10 days of tracking and PC digital sales are not included.
I think it did well over 2 Million if we include PC.
Yea that's completely out the window now. The question is how far short they missed the targets.
Their expectations were 6 million by May I think? Doubt they'd set their expectations that high if they didn't plan on reaching them.
They definitely didn't plan on reviews being as scathing as they were.Their expectations were 6 million by May I think? Doubt they'd set their expectations that high if they didn't plan on reaching them.
A JRPG beating a shlooter......Top 10 best selling titles (Year to Date 2019)

- Anthem^
You have to go a really long way down the chart before you find Crackdown 3
Have to take into account Origin Premiere members also who signed up to play it.
EA having a subscription model for PC users throws things out of whack just like gamepass does.
stop looking at my crack
This destroys the narrative of Microsoft claiming that Game Pass can lead to increase the normal sales of the titles featured in the service.
Uh. How does crackdown 3, a game that had no hype and reviewed bad destroy that narrative? Is this a troll post? This destroys the narrative of Microsoft claiming that Game Pass can lead to increase the normal sales of the titles featured in the service.
Yeah, that point has been proven valid for multiplayer games intended as GAS, because it will increase the player base and it will boost the popularity of the title.
But for games more focused in the single player aspect, this will lead to a heavy cut on the initial sales.
The only way in which a small developer can benefice from releasing a single player game debuting on Game Pass, is if they have a limited budget for marketing AND they are releasing the game in other systems the same day.
So the visibility of Game pass will boost the sales of the title in the other systems.
But by releasing the game only on Game Pass?
This is a recipe for disaster in the case of single player games.

Uh people like anime games. I'm not sure why it's a surprise. Naruto and DBZ games always do well

Yup, and I'm sure they spent quite a bit on marketing that game, I kept seeing ads for it everywhere. Even Fanta sodas here in Peru have ads for the game.
WHAT? Yeah I know avatar quote and all, but didn't you see the crowds for Dragon Ball and how the latest movie did? DB/DBZ/DBS is mainstream as fuck.I guess. I just don't see Naruto and DBZ as mainstream brands really but I guess I'm wrong.
Anthem was the best-selling game of February 2019, and it is now the second best-selling game of 2019. Anthem represents the second highest launch month sales ever recorded for a BioWare developed game, trailing only the March 2012 release of Mass Effect 3.
Does this really say much though when they released only one other title between ME3 and Anthem?Anthem represents the second highest launch month sales ever recorded for a BioWare developed game, trailing only the March 2012 release of Mass Effect 3
Mario day maybeSurprising that the Switch still managed to get good sales despite that there were barely any notable releases this month (I think the only one was Steins Gate? And even that is extremely niche).
I think they might've prepared for that. Bioware and EA must've known for sure the state they were releasing the game in.They definitely didn't plan on reviews being as scathing as they were.
They thought they were going to get in the 70s range, they got 60s and 50s. They had no clue they were going to get ripped apart like this.I think they might've prepared for that. Bioware and EA must've known for sure the state they were releasing the game in.
