Happy to see Days Gone do so well. It's got flaws but it was a great effort from a studio as small as Bend and I really enjoyed my time with it.

Nah that one is obviously PS4 with Days Gone being 2nd and MLB 3rd overall.

Bad how? This is only the second simultaneous release of a third party game on the Switch so far, sports titles notwithstanding. All the other have been late ports, and without exception have exceeded expectations. Said expectations were obviously and reasonably not "top charts in the month of release".
Watch Matt's video that's linked in the OP, it goes more in-depth. 11 didn't beat X's first month, but that's likely because MKX released on April 14 while MK11 released on April 23.

What other 3rd party game should've been able to top the NPD for the Switch? There aren't exactly many major 3rd party titles on the system. MK11 was the first one in a long time that launched in a good enough situation to actually do it. It doesn't mean anything about the Switch's 3rd party situation
MK10 was bigger than Batman Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3 in US NPD during its year of release.

Huh? Pretty much everyone who's supporting Switch is very with it's performance.
Well, a 3rd party game did top the Switch chart (and NPD overall) since but Nintendo technically published it: Octopath Traveler.
I'm guessing these are first month sales. Can we get an adjustment list with number of days on sale?
Not that suprising. MK is huge in US while Ubisoft already said to investors that The Division 2 did not met expectations on PS4/Xbox. Also The Division 2 sales here do not include PC numbers which Ubisoft said that are bigger on uplay than Division 1.

Depends on whether you are counting Octopath as a 3rd party game. That game topped the overall chart in July.
Mario Kart 8 is already at 25m between the WiiU and the Switch version.
It sold better in 2018 than in 2017. Its legs are abnormally huge.
Wait so whats the breakdown in ratio of MK 11 sales between all 3 platforms?? If Switch sold more than 40-50% compared to the rest than 3rd parties are making inroads on Switch. And man what a juggernaut the Switch is. Can't believe how much sales its doing. Hope next gen comes sooner because Sony PS4 sales don't look likely to reach 120 million soon.
Very solid for a new I.P. that did not have the benefit of strong reviews like the other titles on that list. I think Bend are safe.
It is indeed! Dethroned KH1 as the best selling game in the franchise back in March.
The decline is starting to get pretty drastic for the PS4 and Xbox One. Next Gen consoles next year will help boost hardware sales again, but we might see constant decline overall until then.

That's not going to appeal to a massive audience. Not everyone wants Bloody Palace plus cutscenes, which is what DMC5 is. And I love DMC5, but I also know that's template is limited for mass appeal.
Where do you get that number from? It obviously sold the most on PS4 and by the looks of things by a lot.

Days Gone at over 833k in the US with just a few days tracking is amazing. Deserves it as well, the game is great so far.
Ehh still published by Sony so I don't buy that. Most ppl don't know who the specific dev is for most games.
Well, not bad for anyone really, but Division 2 is the sequel to Ubisoft's biggest launch of all time (IIRC), so I was surprised that MK beat it.
It's a monster in it's own right but when you giants like Minecraft and GTA V...well...it's not exactly comparable as it is an exclusive but, still, there's a gap for sure. Even then, it's gonna easily hit over 20 million on the Switch alone, no need to even count the Wii U's numbers here

Good to see DG do well. Reviews don't reflect how good it is imo. Flawed for sure but there is something intangible to it that turns a 6/7 into a near 9 imo. Almost finished with it too, super long and keeps getting better despite some slow pacing at the beginning

Days Gone always had great metrics.
I remember saying the decline would be brutal this year in a sales thread last year. People did not believe it and were expecting the PS4 to go after the PS2. Pretty safe to say it won't happen.
As I said, I expect the PS4 to become the 3rd selling platform of all time, behind only the PS2 and DS, but in front of the Gameboy. I'm still seeing 125 million lifetime.
But I won't be surprised the Switch challenges it down the road.
I knew Days Gone would be a big commercial success for Sony... and I knew it will turn into another millions selling club franchise for Sony.

Because they're in the top 10 for the year overall, looks like people went for Anthem and RE2 up front at release. Sekiro seems to have the staying power.

Isn't Mortal Kombat actually the second big third-party 'new' game after Mario+Rabbids? 2018's third-party game was nearly all late ports like Diablo 3, Ys 8, Dark souls, etc..

It's okay it took like 11 years for DMC4 to hit 3 mil and DMC5 hit that in 2 months so to me that's a winner in my eyes.
